Summary: Fantastic
Review: I'm sick of people saying they hated the stunts and how they were so unrealistic. Get over it! What action movie doesn't have unrealistic stunt scenes in it. I thought Tom Cruise was brillant and I'll definetly go back and see it again. Also consider that Tom Cruise did most of his stunt scenes himself, I think he did a great job. And don't you love Australia. Everyone should stop giving the movie such a hard time and give credit to everyone who made this one of the best movies I've seen in ages.

Summary: Better Than the First Film
Review: Well, MI2 is out, and it is actually decent, as Tom Cruise doesn't take himself as seriously (check out the lines in the movie where Tom Cruise mocks himself, particularly the line about his smile/smirk). The plot is relatively understandable-I think it has something to do with a killer plague. Also, we have a very nasty villian who does nasty things with a cigar cutter and is completely amoral. Losts of rubber masks, just like the TV series and some twists reminisent of the classic episodes of Mission Impossible.John Woo is responsible for this one, and it comes together pretty well, even if it shares some similarities to any number of his films starring Chow Yun-fat. Check out The Killer (the best of Chow's films) and you'll see. Love interest, pigeons, shootout in a church, guns blazing away without the shooters stopping to reload. For a while, I thought that Thandie Newton was going to get shot, or at least blinded, but she survives nicely, thank goodness. Also, Anthony Hopkins as the new leader of the IMF is great, especially his "mission difficult" line. I hope to see more of Thandie Newton, as she is cool and intelligent. She would make a great Bond girl and Sir Anthony would be a great Bond villian. As for Tom Cruise, this type of film suits him just fine. Light entertainment which takes in scads of cash. I guess we all want to be like Tom Cruise, right? Getting the girl and the cash at the end.

Summary: So, So.
Review: Much of the time I was intently concentrating on the interesting action/sfx sequences. However, the plot development and dissemination of situation left me annoyed. There's even one scene where one of the scientists lays out the entire setup "O.K. I confess the plot...Yada, yada, yada." I thought only really bad sci-fi TV movies did that. A great deal of the non-action footage has been digitally touched-up with fake CGI lighting. While it allows the integrated scenes to appear texturally, and color-tonally consistent, it ends up robbing the photography of the natural film textures and thus results in a look similar to The Phantom Menace and a Wing Commander game. That 'everyone is wearing a mask today' scene was totally inept and uninteresting for me. But, the worse parts of the film *were* the interesting but totally unbelievable and over-the-top action/sfx sequences -- especially toward the end. Somehow the original MI didn't seem this overdone and unrealistic. I just couldn't handle it and started laughing. Then, and I totally swear this, the whole audience starts joining in and laughing AT the scenes. A film is supposed to suspend our disbelief through proper character and plot development, and by setting the rules of this movie world. Other films with these types of moments have already established that the characters are either superheroes or have the ability to alter reality. MI:2 did no such thing. Perhaps John Woo should stick to action/sfx coordination and stay away from directing. I don't know...

Summary: Violent as an art form
Review: I was hooked to John Woo's productions since I was a teenager in Asia. His productions were always stylish despite limited budget compared with what he's doing now in Hollywood. Storylines are always kept super simple so that viewers are enticed to enjoy the rest of the movie. Then, I wondered if there were a day when John Woo would leave his trademark in Hollywood & boy, didn't he start with a big bang? MI2 is every bit a John Woo's movie. Having said that, he's more restrained in using those slow motion scenes which he tended to overkill in his previous productions such as Face Off & Hard Target. The perfectly choreographed fighting scenes reminiscened of Asian gangster movies with plenty of somesaults, kicking, fists in the air, gun fights which never seemed to be running out of ammunitions were first rate. If you have seen Replacement Killers by Chow Yuen Fatt, the viewers would know what I mean. The chemistry between Thandie Newton & Tom Cruise was accentuated with the ingenious cinematography of their first encounter in a function amid the commotion of Flamenco dancers with their rhythmic tap dancing, & clapping. Talking about passion! Then, there's the memorable car chases between them in a Porsche 996 Carbriolet & Audi TT. Wow!! Anyway, what made John Woo's movies memorable must be the plot which the hero has to sacrifice himself to save another, or vice versa. In that sense, we really feel for the characters. Moreover, there's always the final confrontation between the ultimate good guy, & the ultimate bad guy. No interruption but fight to the death between two worthy contenders. Smooth!! Remind you of Nicholas Cage & John Trovolta in Face Off in the final slug after the boat crush? Watch out for the bike chase sequence which bettered or matched the car chase sequence in Gone in 60 Seconds. What shouldn't be overlooked is the bolsterous soundtrack composed by Hans Zimmer which seemed to bring the movie to a higher level. Hans' contributions in previous blockbusters such as Backdraft and The Rock have proven my point. In addition, there's cameo appearance by Sir Anthony Hopkins (short but memorable) & commendable peformances by Tom's funny but competent side kicks such as Ving Rhames (who only got mad at the baddies after they put a hole through his Versace jacket!) & John Polson (Aussie block to the bone with much usage of "mate" in his vocabulary). This production is definitely first class & slick. Critics can say whatever they want about MI2 being a no brainer but hey, for its entertainment value, it's definitely one of the best action movie for Year 2000. I can't wait for the sequel. Can this mean that this is a threat to 007 franchise? Highly recommended for first timer or repeat viewing. Sydney is definitely coming of age as the Hollywood of the Southern Hemisphere as it has proven in the Matrix, this movie, & the up & coming Star Wars prequel. Good on you, mate!! For viewers who are interested in John Woo's previous works, A Better Tomorrow (with 3 sequels) starring Chow Yuen Fatt is regarded as a classics in Asia. Don't miss them.

Summary: An Awful Movie With Good Action
Review: How many explosions can you see? How many people can you watch getting shot or killed? If your answer is a million, then I heartily recommend this movie. If you are looking (as I am) for something more then DO NOT SEE M:I 2. This film has the one of the worst scripts since Speed 2: Cruise Control, and that was a BAD movie. This is strictly for action fans. Any of my fellow fans of the original series will most likely be thoroughly dissapointed in this totally action-oriented movie. Tom Cruise produced this movie and is in every-single scene. Who does he think he is - James Bond? Well, he isn't; not by a long shot. In my opinion, he's a narcissistic actor who just wants to show off his mountian-climbing skills.

Summary: A NEW Tom Cruise by John Woo
Review: I am always be a Tom Cruise Fan. I saw every moives of his. IM2 shows me another aspect of Tom, his action, kick, gun shot which is so smooth and beautiful. Really Cool ! Honestly, I am already get borded with John Woo's action style. However, when Woo's style combine with Tom's gives audiences a fresh feeling and look. I hope Tom can have chance to cooperate with Asian actor, like Chau Yu Fat in his future moives. Definitely, this can give us another SUPRISE. If you want to see more than a handsome Tom, see MI2 now.

Summary: Very Pleased!
Review: When i entered the theater to watch M:I-2, I didn't think i would like it because i am not into these Spy movies (Plus,i haven't seen Mission:Impossible yet..so i thought it was going to be confusing) I understood it all! But,when i left it was like "Wow!" I loved it,i watched it with curiousity. When certain things happened,i could hear myself and my friend gasping in shock! It is very amusing to watch the action scenes and i could watch this movie quite a few times before getting tired of it,for sure. It looked very realistic (Ex. When they were pulling off the masks) Very well done. Highly Recommended to people that love spy and action movies.

Summary: Stupid, mindless, and unentertaining
Review: This movie was so dumb that I was laughing in the theater during the last 30 minutes. The action scenes are so unrealistic that they make you laugh. The action is just way overdone. It seems like Hunt had to spin-kick every bad guy he was fighting. And another thing: both he and the main villain would have died about 10 times over during the end of the movie. Every character kept coming back from a death-defying experience to fight in full strength. At the end of the movie, Hunt had but one cut on his face- only from a knife. No broken bones, no bruises, no bloody noses, no other cuts. In the film Die Hard, John McClane (Bruce Willis) had to drag himself to the bathroom and pull shards of glass out of his blood-stained feet. In M:I-2, Hunt seemed like some kind of superhuman that could survive experiences that would bring death to the average person. In M:I-2, the overdone and implausible action takes away the most from the movie. The reason I feel this way is because the implausibility of the action distracts the viewer from the point of the movie. I felt like I was watching a comedy full of explosions and fools riding around on motorcycles. Also, I hated how some people seemed to have a mask of everyone else. Someone would just take off his mask out of nowhere and end up being someone else. That "mask" aspect of the film made it humorous and ridiculous to me. While the action in the movie was poor, the plot was better than I expected. The visual effects were pleasing to the eye - but they were almost all fire and explosions. Also, the action sequences did sound amazing in the theatre's Sony Dynamic Digital Sound. However, the sound of the movie was not enough to save it. Overall, M:I-2 was just meant to be an overdone, stupid, ridiculous action "thriller." I would have given this movie zero stars, but the lowest allowed rating by Amazon is one star. If you want to see an outstanding action movie, see Die Hard. If you want to see an unrealistic but entertaining action movie, see Die Hard 2 or The Rock. But if you absolutely insist on seeing an overhyped, ridiculous, implausible piece of absolute trash, see M:I-2. I don't care, you won't be flushing my money down the toilet.

Review: This movie was great. I saw it because a couple of my friends wanted to see it so I went. I thought it was going to be like The World Is Not Enough where the plot sucked and the action was great. Here both were great, and better then The World Is Not Enough. Here they mix great acting and a great plot with action. When this comes out I'll pick it up on DVD or VHS, or both!

Summary: Tom Cruise in Mission/Matrix/Love Story 2
Review: As a fan of action movies, Cruise and Mission Impossible...I was very disappointed with this mess of a movie. Entirely too much slow motion, artsy, neo Matrix action. Matrix did it much, much better. Bond does it better (of course). I kept waiting for Keaneu Reeves to come out from behind a tree and say that anything is possible in the Matrix...even the impossible. It would have made a better movie. Give me a break on the "love story" angle....Cruise would let the world experience the deadly drug after a one nighter to rescue his beloved....I don't think Hunt would have done it in character. However...the action scenes are great but I was BORED by the last quarter of the movie and they didn't help me to like the movie any better. This is a movie I won't be adding to my collection. Give me the first movie any day!
