Rating: Summary: BORING! (Need I say more?) Review: Ok, this movie looked very very good, and then i saw it. If this movie isn't one of the worst movies i have ever seen, then i don't know what it is. Tommy Lee Jones, a great actor, but get's on your nerves during this movie. Ashley Judd, miscast. I would have begged for Susan Sarandon to play her role. The acting was horrible, and the movie was not suspenseful. Put this movie at the bottom of the list of must-see-movies, and at the top of do-not-see-movies.
Rating: Summary: DOUBLE FUN! Review: IT IS VERY ENJOYABLE! LET'S START IT OUT THAT WAY! IT MADE YOU KEEP THINKING....HOW IS IT GOING TO END? VERY GOOD AND SUSPENSFULL! PLUS I LIKE ASHELY JUDD! A SORT OF BIG TEAR JERKER!
Rating: Summary: One of the best suspense movies I've seen in years. Review: After a barrage of negative reviews from many of the top-name critics, I must say that I was a bit sketchy about going out and renting this movie. Seeing the previews in the movie theater led me to believe that the only good parts of the movie were in the theatrical trailer shown in theaters. However, I was mistaken. This movie is a very good one, including the talents of Ashley Judd and Tommy Lee Jones. A well-thought of script that is superbly acted and shot, with all the perks of a good suspense flick. Libby Parsons is charged with the murder of her husband, Nick, whom we later find out has staged his own death in order to escape financial ruin. He then takes his son, and his nanny that he later marries, and moves away to a place where Libby cannot contact her son, Maddy. Of course, when she calls her son, he calls out "Daddy," and Libby knows he is alive. I will stop here. Telling you any more will inevitably ruin the ending for you. If you're in the mood for a movie that will have you guessing what is going to happen, rush out and rent this one. The DVD version of this movie is a good one. The image is clear, the sound design is well mixed, and there is a making-of featurette and a theatrical trailer.
Rating: Summary: Double Jeopardy Review: Being a big fan of thriller flicks such as Jagged Edge The Hand That Rocks the Cradle I hoped that when I purchased this on DVD, I would not be disappointed... Quite frankly, I wasn't. For those of you who don't know the plot, (Libby Parsons) Ashley Judd is imprisoned for killing her husband and the film just turns out to be a roller coaster ride from then on in.. Probably the strongest moment experienced is when (in prison) Libby discovers that her husband is alive and that she has been double-crossed... Gripping stuff! I found Tommy Lee Jones' role to be a bit "deflated" and at times unnecessary, but overall this was an immensly enjoyable film and was definitely worthy of being added to the "must watch again soon" section of my collection.
Rating: Summary: Double Zero Review: This movie rests on two key plot elements. Since neither of them work, it falls flat on its face before the end of the first reel. A sociopathic husband fakes his death and frames his wife (Ashley Judd) for his own murder so that he can then collect two million dollars paid dutifully by a life insurance company into a trust fund for his little boy. Anyone who's tried to get two cents via an insurance claim will chuckle at the thought of a company paying up as the woman convicted for his murder starts her prison term. But there's worse to come. Inside a curiously friendly women's penitentiary, and with her full makeup intact, Judd conveniently meets an ex-lawyer con who informs her that, since she's already been tried for murder, she could kill her still-very-much alive husband and be immune from prosecution by claiming double jeopardy, whereby nobody can be tried twice for the same crime. Hello? If she subsequently kills her husband, then she was wrongfully convicted the first time, since there can have been no crime. No first crime, no double jeopardy. They would throw away the key. But why worry about logic in a formulaic and lazy bubblegum movie like this? Tommy Lee Jones is asleep throughout. Ashley Judd shows enormous but barely used potential. Bruce Beresford directs like he's wading through molasses. Did he even care? No suspense and no thrills are unpardonable sins in a movie purporting to be a suspense thriller. Don't waste your time on this clunker.
Rating: Summary: fugitive 3 and the trailer says it all. Review: what started as a good idea, quickly turns into fugitive 3. same idea and concept. the acting is not bad and is the movies big redeeming feature. the main characters go from being amzing clever to doing the dumbest things. it is watchable and can be enjoyable, but there is nothing really new in it. watch it.
Rating: Summary: HORRIBLE Review: YOU CAN SEE THIS MOVIE ON LIFETIME OVER AND OVER AGAIN JUST WITH A DIFFERENT TITLE
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: It is rare that you can go into a movie theater and see a great movie that makes you want to go in and watch it again immediately. Seeing this movie gave me one of those rare moments in life. Ashley Judd is a terrific actress, and proves that in this movie. Double Jeopardy provides some good, edge-of-your-seat suspense, which is hard to find in the movies lately. Although some parts were a bit corny, I loved this movie.
Rating: Summary: Watch the trailer Review: Just watch the trailer. It says everything about it and anything else about this film is nothing special. An overdone genre and predictably cheesy. Freeze frame for Ashly judd naked is the only thing worth buying this DVD for.
Rating: Summary: Great movie - careful of aspect ratio Review: This was a terrific movie, although fairly predictable. Ashley Judd is good as a woman driven to find her son after he disappears while she is in prison for a murder she did not commit. Tommy Lee Jones is good also as her dour parole officer-ex-law professor driven to keep up with her while looking for the truth. FOR WIDESCREEN LOVERS: At the time this was written, this movie is listed as 1.85:1 aspect ratio. It is actually the skinny-picture 2.35:1. This is either good or bad news. Bad news for me, I would have much preferred the 1.85:1 version (or better yet a choice between widescreen and full screen).
