Review: Con Air is missing something most movies need... ohh whats it called?? OH YEAH! A plot. The action sequences arent that great anyways. John Malcovich does a good job but that doesnt make up for a sucky movie. If you wanna see a red-neck run around a movie without a clue... this is for you. If you have a brain... it isnt for you.

Review: I expected to dislike this film. Nicholas Cage was the sole reason I gave it a chance. And if I were to dissect it, I'd find it pretty weakly put together. But it's not a movie you can dissect.This is a total action flick. It's Black and White. Good and Evil. The truly good man trying to get home to his family being put in peril by the most evil of criminals. Oh I want so much to hate it. It's trite. It's stupid. It might even be racist. (Actually it's probably a couple of kinds of racist.) But it's also rip roarin' action. Beautifully coreographed fire! This is a success of special effects. It's all better than it should be, because they show it so well. And that's what DVD is best at. Get blown away by the sound and the image.

Summary: ConAir is a great Action thriller!!!
Review: Con Air is packed full of action and breath taking scenes where Nicolas Cage is taken as a Navy Seal Con who killed a drunk man defending his wife. After inprisonment for many years its time to go home. While on the plane home, guess what high-jacked by cons and Nicolas Cage must play along to save him, a friends, and a womans life.

Summary: Great film - pathetic use of DVD
Review: I won't harp on too much about the movie. It made so much money that almost everyone must have seen it at the cinema. What hacks me off is the dreadful use of DVD. This little shiny disc can hold so much and all you get is the film and a couple of trailers. Why not include a "making of" feature, a cast sheet, cut scenes and so forth? There's plenty of room for them. At the moment, unless you're desperate for the extra audio quality, you're better saving some cash and just buying the VHS version. Virtually every movie company is guilty of this, so I'm not picking on Con Air's owners. If you pay so much more for a film, you should get your moneys worth, especially when you consider how much cheaper DVDs are to manufacture than tapes.

Summary: This movie is an action-packed pile of racist garbage
Review: Note that in "Con Air" one of the leading villains, the right-hand man to the arch villain Cyrus "the Virus" [Malkovich] is a "Black Militant" [Ving Rhames]. In the beginning when the prisoners are being loaded onto the plane, we're told that [Rhames] is not only a militant killer of white policemen, but that he had also written a book praised by the New York Times as a "wake up call to black America." Now when they talk about s--t flying, be sure this is it. In not so subtle terms of the white-mindedness that makes the U.S. infamous around the world, this film uplifts a friendly, passive Negro (I use the term politically) inmate [Cage's pal], who is not only too sick to do anything throughout the film but who seems all goo-goo-eyed at the heroism of [Cage], and who depends on the Almighty White Man to win the day and--as [Cage] tells him--"prove there's a God." Of course, in the climax, this sick Negro stands in front of Cage and takes a bullet, and though he does not die, the moral of the story is clear: good black people should not only love white folks, they should be willing to die for them. And the "Black Militant" character? To be sure, he is a criminal and a killer, but he is the only sane, ideologically driven character on the plane--and that includes [Cage], whose only reason for getting involved in the airborne imbroglio is to save his Negro since--as the movie tells us--U.S. Rangers never leave a fallen comrade behind. And laugh with me one last time: imagine the New York Times saying anything even remotely approaching black militancy as a "wake up call to black America." Give me a break. The people who produced and wrote "Con Air" obviously think that anything liberal is radical, and anything radical is bad--a common assumption of TOO MANY whites. In the end, the white hero and the good Negro live and all the rebellious prisoners die--with the exception of a psychotic killer and a homosexual in a skirt--which shows that the average white would rather have a serial killer running loose than a sane black "militant." END END

Summary: One of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Review: Normally, I enjoy Jerry Bruckheimer's work. I like Nic Cage too. But this mess of a film is one of the worst acted{except Steve Bucsemi}, scripted, and directed films I have ever seen. It's action is sluggish, and it's climax is proposterous. I wasn't excepting a very intelligent movie, but this is just terrible. If I had the option, I would give it no stars. END

Review: Even for you ladies who can't tolerate the violence, the entire movie is worth it just for the final scene when the Trisha Yearwood song begins. I cry every time. In fact, I bought the DVD just for that wonderful scene! END

Review: This movie was great in most all ways. The soundtrack was great, the actors were magnificient. The plot coulda used a little improvement, and the movie took a few liberties with reality, but over all, I would reccomend this movie to all my friends. Get it, or miss out END

Summary: Intense, Plot-Driven Joyride
Review: Con Air is an innovative action-packed movie well worth seeing. The only flaw, albeit a big one, is the main character. His Army Ranger background seems contrived, yet it provides explanations for his motivations throughout the movie. Just telling us a character has an Army Ranger or Navy Seal background would be enough for a bit role, but not the main character. The movie needed to explain how that background affected the character. It really threw everything off. There were some potentially great one-liners that just completely fizzled due to a lack of character development for Nicholas Cage's role. The show stealer was the child killer that escaped and apparently reformed--more character development that Cage's role. Instead the movie almost tries to explain or justify his current character at every step. Wrong! The reason for having a movie is to show change in the main character. Cage become a little more aggressive, but he doesn't fundamentally change. Still, "Con Air" is enjoyable overall. The plot and secondary characters carry the movie. END
