Rating: Summary: simple plot but easy to watch with a great sound track Review: Having stumbled on this movie 20 years ago, my friends and I still feel this is one of the great cult classics of all times. The sound track is super and blends beautifully with the motif. It is very easy to get behind the "heros" of this movie. This is not a motion picture master piece and not a reflection of actual gang life. As long as the viewer understands these two facts, then the movie becomes a very enjoyable action/adventure movie. Michael Beck is great! The cartoon series "Anamaniacs" even parodied probly the most famous line of the movie, "Warriors...come out to play". I would recommend this movie to anyone especially if you loved the music of the 70's.
Rating: Summary: GREAT 20 YEARS AGO,SHOWS AGE NOW MUSIC GOOD Review: A BIT OF A GANG MOVIE CLASSIC. THOSE SEEING IT FOR THE FIRST TIME 20 YEARS ON WILL HAVE A LAUGH IN SPOTS.I LOVED IT IN 1979 AND STILL ENJOY IT TODAY,THE SOUNDTRACK IS ALSO AS GOOD NOW AS IT EVER WAS.
Rating: Summary: ACTION PACKED ADVENTURE Review: Extremely good lines and running scenes that couldn't be better. I especially liked James Remar in his role.
Rating: Summary: Fun but not serious movie Review: Good movie, with some unrealistic parts to it, like the baseball gang most people criticize, all in all a fun movie to watch with some cool fight scenes, great for a group of 21 year old guys to pass a night off with
Rating: Summary: silly comic book gang movie Review: although sol yuricks book was very good, this adaption of it is marginal at best. The performances are wooden and many of the actors are miscast. The plot is somewhat similar to the book but the situations are revised to appeal to poeple with little understanding of reality. Come on, since when are there violent street gangs who weaR BASEBALL UNIFORMS AND PAINT THEIR FACES! The baseball furies looked like something out of animal house rather than the mean streets of new york. Since when are there lampposts in a cemetary? In the book the gangs acted, talked and dressed like the real thing, in this silly movie they were super stylized versions of the much more believable characters in the book. Also, since when are the cops so inept that the gangs knock them all down the subway stairs? I cannot believe that so many people like this comic bookish version of sol yurick good book. What's more tha warriors were the coney island deminators in the book, and the leader was papa arnold. The gang memebers were named hactor, lungface, bimbo and hinton, and they only faced one other gang when they were forced to walk through their neighborhood. their advemtures were more believable than the movie. Had the screenplay writer remained closer to the original source, this could have been a much better and more exciting movie.
Rating: Summary: No need to think too much or overanylize... Review: It's tons of fun. A stylish, violent, adventurous comic book of a movie. A 70's cult classic.
Rating: Summary: Warriors...come out to plaaaay...... Review: Top notch street gang flick! People can either love it or hate it - no inbetweens! Fight scenes were okay, simple yet realistic-looking. One of the more powerful scenes in the movie had nothing to do with the rumbles: Two obviously upper-class couples enter train occupied by the haggard-looking Warriors. After glancing at the latter, the couple disembarks. Prior to this, Warrior leader stops female partner from "fixing" herself, clearly for the benefit of their uppy-class fellow passengers. More than a mere film depicting gang violence per se, "The Warriors" evoke feelings of pride and rough justice, as well as touching on the what is unfortunately a very wide social and behavioral gap between classes in society.
Rating: Summary: When you don't want to pause a movie, you know it's good. Review: Sometimes, something is SO good that you wonder, "Had anyone ever thought of this before?" Well, a friend of mine turned me on to a historical book by the name of "The Persian Expedition" by Xenophon. The premise is similar to that of The Warriors in that we follow the adventures of a group of 1,000 soldiers trapped in a foreign land trying to get to the sea (all the while having to fight any enemies they encounter along the way) because from there they can get home. Watch the movie then read the book! And you can find them both at amazon.com! (I wasn't paid to write that.)
Rating: Summary: Coney Island, Bronx, Brooklyn. need I say more? Review: This is a great movie. As a kid I watched it about a hundred times. Who are the warriors...I have this movie memorized by heart.I just wish it were on DVD already.
Rating: Summary: I love this movie!!! I have a personal interest in it Review: I too saw this movie when I was in grade school some 15 yrs ago. My cousin's best friend was one of the Baseball Furies (Steve James, may he rest in peace). I saw this on cable not so long ago, and the host of TNT Monstervision had me crackin up: 9 guys can't beat up a cab driver and just drive back to Brooklyn? Give me a break?? Funny...but all in all you have to give this movie it's props...It's pure fun....CANNNN YOUUU DIGGG ITTTTTT? :)
