Summary: Hitchhiker get picked-up?
Review: Where are the scenes where Kowalski picks up the hitchhiker? I thought Iwas buying the WHOLE movie but I guess you forgot THAT scene! Gee... why don't you just cut the last scene of the movie? (I don't want to give it away!)

Review: This was a true great film of the 70s and it it ranks up there with Bullitt and Dirty Mary Crazy Larry Movie staring Peter Fonda......

Summary: Long Live Mopars
Review: Finally saw this Mopar cult classic tonight - E for Excellent E-Body. That Challenger took all the abuse Kowalski gave it - one complaint was when he started it in the desert, the sound didn't match a Chrysler starter. We rewound the last scene about five times before we figured out it was probably a Camaro or Firebird - You can not love Mopars w/o seeing this movie.

Summary: Absolutly the best car chase movie ever done!!!
Review: I not going to reveiw this movie the same way the others above have...if you have read all the other reveiws, then you know about the storyline....Well , here it is...if you have been looking for it since '71 ...you've found it...saw this movie at the theatre and then the drive in, on TV and finally now on this video...and as a bonus..it is the extended version...with the missing scenes of Kowalskis' girlfriend's drowning...this was edited out for TV...the car is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T (road and track)...it was one of 5 cars used for the shooting of the movie. Some of the cars had 440 magnums and a couple were just 383 cars...there is also a 440 Six pack car that you can see the emblems on the hood in one scene. The car they used for most close ups was equipped with Rim blow steering wheel, 15" rallys, am-fm radio, power windows, solid white paint with stripe delete, power bulge hood, polyglas tires and a 4 speed trans with a pistol grip shifter .Barry Newman did some of the stunts himself, and many of the burnouts...I could go on and on but I've only got 1000 words...by the way...the car that hits the dozers at the end is a '68 Camaro....Kowalski lives and Mopar Rules!!!!

Summary: Vanishing Point Kicks ASS.
Review: Vanishing Point is the best I Love it its one of the few movies that I love. There is a Vanishing Point fan club you can find it at the club founder's home page www.monumental.com/kowalski/vpoint.html check it out its a great page Im fan member Jim Kowalski. there are lots of great things I could say many allready mentioned. I read that Cary Lofton the stunt man chose the Challenger because of it great horsepower handling accleration etc. I think he made a great choice because there are many great muscle cars from back then equally fast and the stunts could have been good with any of them. But the Challenger is perfect for Kowalski Because of its name Kowalski challenges to get from Denver to SanFransisco in 15hrs. he challenges the government. He challenges the bulldozers etc and he wins don't you agree. I think VP should have been nominated for an oscar bacause if their going to nominate Thelma and Louise which is a copy of vp and not as good. Don't you agree.

Summary: Classic car chase/great music flick
Review: I remember being blown away by this B movie at a drive when I was in my 20's; it was the 2nd movie - not really the one I went to see. The soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, perfectly in synch with the action. The character development is occasionally over-simplified, but not always - there's some especially fine acting by a few of the minor characters. In what other film would someone lost in the desert run into a gospel rock performance by Bonnie & Delany (in real life, one of their fans & occasional collaborators was Eric Clapton). This film is worth seeing many times over, but DON'T let anyone watch it who doesn't see it from the very beginning (it's crucial later for getting the full emotional impact of the story).

Summary: Poignant examples of the times - idealism, quest for freedom
Review: This is much more than a film about a car chase. For those that lived in those times it is a wonderful example of searching for truth in times when truth was hard to come by (Viet Nam, bigotry). It's the story of a black man and a white man joined in the brotherhood of righteousness. Two men joined by their search for truth not separated by their color. And, it shows the ultimate form of demonstration against the crooked establishment by performing the ultimate sacrifice, taking a downward spiraling life and sending it into infamy, if only for a moment. And, for us old hot rodders who saw it at least eleven times at the drive in, it is some of the best chase scenes on film.

Summary: Thank You Amazon!!!!!
Review: I saw this movie many times when it 1st came to the drive-ins in 1971. Always one of the favorites of my generation!! Great soundtrack, great car, great chase scenes. Barry Newman was also in the short live TV series Petrocelli. Dean Jagger, the old prospector has a great character part also. I still watch this movie from time to time, put it in and its the Summer of 71 again!!!!!!
