Rating: Summary: Lots of fencing, lots of action, lots of fun! Review: Ok,fellow Baby Boomers! If you grew up watching Zorro as a movie or serial, you'll love this flick! And you can't call yourself a fencer if you hate this movie, either. Anthony Hopkins,as usual, stands out (although I found it humorous to imagine"Hannibal Lecter" with a sword--!) Antonio Banderas as a (finally!)Hispanic Zorro shows his comedic side and Catherine Zeta-Jones should have had more scenes. The villain gets his just desserts,as usual, but what a way to go! Touche !
Rating: Summary: All in all a very enjoyable movie! Review: The Mask of Zorro is one of the best movies that came out this summer. It's just fun to watch. Zorro is not a masterpiece in the slighest it's just a whole lot of fun. There's great adventure romance, etc. I definetly recommend this movie.
Rating: Summary: Great fun, fantastic cast ! Where's the sequel? Review: Anthony Hopkins is always great in just about any movie he does! Antonio Banderas is a terrific Zorro -- what a great sense of humor he brings to his character! Catherine Zeta-Jones is a fine actress with a classic beauty reminiscent of the Golden Age of Hollywood (a latter day Ava Gardner?). The musical score and the stunt work get your heart pumping! Some minor inconsistencies aside, this is one great adventure film that kids can enjoy with their parents!
Rating: Summary: Good Movie, this one is a keeper. Review: As for Mask of Zorro, Saw this one in the theater, and I would definitely recommend this one to anyone. Great swashbuckling action, swordplay, stunt scenes, definitely a good plot, and an excellent cast. This movie is quite a refreshing change from all the gawd-awful sappy stuff Hollywood is coming out with. I mean, how many disaster and apocalyptic movies can one go and see and not wanna hurl? Movies like Armageddon, Deep Impact, Twister, Dante's Peak, or even the genre of movies that cater more to the adult sense of humor. Don't get me wrong, the acting and special effects on a few were notable. (there's my rant)
Rating: Summary: One of Banderas best Review: Anthony Hopkins good as mentor, Antonio good as his student. Excellent action sequences.
Rating: Summary: weak and cheesy Review: WEAK This movie was lame. I especially had to hold back the dry heaves. As the pile of 15 bad guys were plied on top of Zorro. As he secretly crawls out the bottom of the pile. Or running with the leaking barrel of gun powder as Wile E Coyote has done 100 times before. Small children might like it after they watch Teletubbies
Rating: Summary: Anthony Hopkins is masterful! Review: I didn't expect a lot out of an Antonio Banderas movie. I've seen both Douglas Fairbanks and Tyrone Power in the same role and I didn't think "Tony" could carry either of their capes. I was wrong. In a real stretch, Banderas plays Zorro as angry and impetuous and not nearly as polished or suave as some of his previous roles. I also doubted Hopkins as a Spanish nobleman, but he was excellent. I shouldn't have lost faith. This movie has everything: action, drama, intrigue, romance, swashbuckling. If you don't like this movie, you don't have a pulse!
Rating: Summary: Good old fashioned excitment and romance! Review: The Mask of Zorro combines good old-fashioned adventure with some romance, comedy and style. Banderas was great and Anthony Hopkins always delivers an exceptional performance (with the exception that he is the oldest Zorro I've ever seen). The heroine of the movie is drop-dead gorgeous and she can use a sword as well. This is fun for anyone. Go get it today!
Rating: Summary: A GREAT LATIN SUPER HERO!! Review: AS A HISPANIC, GROWING UP TO SEE ZORRO PLAYED OUT BY AN AMERICAN DID NOT DO MUCH, BECAUSE I COULD NOT RELATE TO WHITE AMERICA...NOW AS A PARENT AND WANTING MY CHILDREN TO TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR HERITAGE...I APPLAUDE MASK OF ZORRO, AND EVEN MORE HOPKINS AND BANDERRAS DID AND EXCELLENT JOB OF POTRAYING ZORRO. AS FOR THE LEADING LADY... SHE HAD US FOOLED.....SHE LOOKED GREAT AND DID EXCELLENT IN HER ROLE. I RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE TO ALL WANTING TO UNDERSTAND DIVERSITY BETTER AND FOR ANYONE WITH RESERVATIONS AS TO THE HISTORY OF THE MEXICANS IN WHAT IS NOW U.S. CALIFORNIA!!
Rating: Summary: Action-Packed!!! Review: "The Mask of Zorro", starring Anthony Hopkins and Antonio Banderras, is a fast-paced and highly enjoyable film. The plot is very rich and entertaining. Each actor does a great job of blending adrenaline filled stunts with deep emotional feelings. I feel that it is a must-see for any Zorro, Banderras, or Hopkins fan.
