Rating: Summary: A DECENT MOVIE Review: This movie wasn't a classic but it was a fun pirate movie with some great dialouge that you could never say in a movie today. What with political correctness and all. Robert Shaw gives a fun performance in this movie and James Earl Jones, Beau Bridges, Avery Shriber, and Peter Boyle all give fine performances as well. And the beautiful sexy genevieve Bujold. Oh she's so hot in this movie. (u get 2 c her butt) :) I recommend this movie highly for this price. It's a funner adventure than most of the drivel that's coming out of hollywood lately.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This was a great movie for it's time. Romance but not going overly with it. The cast is remarkable. Everyone was famous or went on to later fame. James Earl Jones did a wonderful job as did Robert Shaw in one of his best works. I recommend it for anyone who wants to have fun while watching a movie. Believe me it is fun.
Rating: Summary: A huge, huge disappointment!!! Review: When this movie was first released way back when, I wanted to see it in the worst way! And WORST perfectly describes how I felt about it afterwards! This film was awful! The cast and production values were there, but WHO WROTE THIS DRIVEL? It's like those horrible 1970's-era teen comedies where you despise the fun-loving kids you're supposed to identify with. And the evil governor was creepy in an unpleasant way that wasn't entertaining. I honestly can't believe there are people out there who LIKED this film! I thought it was 100% crap!
Rating: Summary: A Campy romp.... Review: Yes, it's campy, yes, it's fluffy and yes, it's a fun movie. Robert Shaw and James Earl Jones play wonderfully together, Genevieve Bujold is one very very sexy leading lady. I thought though, that this movie ended with Major Folley being presented to the new governere who turns out to be, hold your breath, the pirate? maybe I'm confusing this with robin hood. Anyway - a great ride all the way through.
