Summary: very, very poor movie
Review: Costner's terrible accent. A lot of meaningless, gory dungeon scenes. The supposedly "enlightened" Moor in a movie that opens up in a Moorish dungeon. If they are going to insult my intelligence by saying 13th century Europeans couldn't even count, then they are the fools. A reprehensible farce.
The Robin Hood in this movie is a dull, passionless anti-hero. If you make it to the end of this stupid film, you might find yourself wondering what was the point of the whole thing.

Summary: What a blast!
Review: This is a really good movie, apart from stuff like the accents which I didn't even notice. It studies every angle of Robin Hood, from his romance with Maid Marion to fighting with Will Scarlet. Very action-paked, with a lot of archery scenes, staff-fighting and sword fighting. It opens with a jail scene, where he meets a black guy called Azeem (Azim?) and escapes. He makes his way to England only to find his father murdered and his servant/butler blinded. He goes to Maid Marions, then runs into Sherwood where he finds the outlaws. Will Scarlet, upon hearing Robin's name, takes an instant dislike to him and proves it later by trying to kill him numerous times and finally turning traitor. Lot of theft scenes where we see the orchestrated plans at work.
The Sheriff of Nottingham is sly, mean and prostitute-loving.
Azeem is the calm, in control and strategist.
Little John is strong (obviously), dry-humoured and likes to swear a lot.
Will Scarlet is secretive, hatefilled, mostly towards Robin and a bloke with a past.
Maid Marion is handy with a sword, attractive (to Robin, Will Scarlet and the Sheriff) and a normal medieval maid.
Robin is best with an arrow and sarcastic.

Summary: A MUST SEE !
Review: I regret the postponement of watching this GREAT movie! I can say that this is one of the best Kevin Costner's movies ever made! I am not going to discuss the movie events because I can see that so many reviewers already did. But what is truly great about this movie is the sound track, special effects, drama and highly driven emotions all the way 'til the end. The weak points in this movie are: 1. The movie is kind of long that at some point you might feel that it's slow! But it pulls back the threads and events develop in a way that you enjoy! 2. The DVD has a poor mistake since the first side contains only 74 minutes of the movie and you have to flip the DVD to the other side to continue watching the film! And if you have mistakenly placed the DVD on side B you'll start watching the second half of the movie without warning which might spoil the movie for you! 3. With such a big budget and excellence, I wonder why would the director make a mistake in presenting a wrong Muslim prayer! If you notice, when Morgan Freeman reaches England with Kevin Costner he starts praying after he asks about the East direction. But he prays not as how Muslims pray, which I find a big mistake! The director should have studied the real performance of the prayer instead of presenting a fake simulation. Other than that this movie is a MUST see and is a great collection next to other great epics such as Gladiator, Brave Heart ...etc.

Review: Although I happen to really enjoy this movie, ignoring historical inacuracies, etc. I really hate this as a DVD... Half the movie is on one side, and half on the other! I could understand this with a really long movie, but for a 143min movie, they must be joking! Mine is going back to the store as soon as I get a chance. I'll buy the real thing when they get their act together... literally.

Summary: 1 Star for the DVD, 3 Stars for the Movie
Review: The movie is ok for what it is. Thursday night entertainment. You get one film format and the extras are the same on both sides of the disk. PLUS you MUST turn over the disk to VIEW the entire movie! If I had known that I would not have bought the DVD. I do not recommend the DVD. Do like a previous review suggested and buy it on VHS if you must have it.

Summary: GIVING THIS MOVIE 4-5 STARSI ARE YOU PEOPLE INSANE?YES
Review: Well, where to start? On a positive note, Kevin Costner is a good actor and doesn't do too bad a job at portraying Robin Hood (ALMOST making this film deserve two stars). That's it, as far as good points: THE MOVIE [stinks]! What has made me angry is that there are people (IDIOTS!) who consider this abortion to be equal or better than the version with Flyn! After recently seeing the 1938 movie which yes is campy but still wonderful like THE WIZARD OF OZ, I felt committed to writing a review of this horrible picture which I sat through on HBO.

Morgan Freeman as a moor- why a moor character? Why him? Marion was not alluring like traditonally portrayed, okay but why make her such a [witch]? Was England even worth fighting for in this film? It looked as depressing as the set of WATERWORLD, which may be a realistic picture of the Middle Ages, but sad nonetheless; I will take romanticism anyday. Finally, maybe it isn't fair to compare this to the 1938 version. I saw a silent version with Douglas Fairbanks which wasn't so hot but comeon people- giving this such high a rating- DUMMIES!

Summary: One of the all time GREAT action-adventure films of all time
Review: What an unfortunate error on the part of Warner Bros to have put this great movie out in a single-layered format! They missed EVERY opportunity to make this the incredible movie-experience that it is! There is no DTS or 5.1 soundtrack, and you have to flip the DVD over at the half-way mark.

If you have read through the other reviews posted here, please ignore the idiotic anti-American sentiments some obviously disturbed individuals put here for you to read - they missed the point of trying of help you decide if you should buy this DVD or not! My advice - dont. Not until they fix this particular release. Get the VHS version and "rough it" until then....END

Summary: Horrible DVD!!!!!
Review: This DVD defeats the purpose of DVD. The disk is single layered, meaning that at this movies length they (Warner Brothers) couldn't fit the whole movie on one side of the disk. You have to flip the disk over mid-film!!

Granted it is not the end of the world but it is an inconvenience that a DVD need not have. A DVD is capable of containing two layers per side. Each layer can roughly hold about 2 1/4 hours of high-quality video, audio and subtitles. So, then, each side of a DVD is capable of storing over 4 hours of footage. This means that each DVD can have over 8 hours of material.

Longer movies like "Brave Heart" can fit on one side of a DVD and still have space for a "Making of..." Documentary and lot more Bells & Whistles then offered here.

I have gone over every symbol and every line of text on the package and find no warning of the "Mid-film Flip". Because of this I am not going to buy another Warner Brothers DVD.

If I can not trust the company then my money will go elsewhere, and I suggest you do the same.

Summary: Good Stuff!
Review: Prince of Thieves was MEANT to be entertaining nothing more. Purists should stick with Basil Rathbone and Company. My two problems with this version are the witch and the attempted rape scene. Brian Blessed did an exceptionally wonderful job as Robin's Father, pity he died early on.

Morgan Freeman, Kevin Costner, Mary Elizabeth and of course Sean Connery were the backbone of this film. I had a great time watching it!

Summary: Robin Hood, Prince of Dweebs
Review: ...was our name for this movie when it first came out, and it fits. Maid Marian is Ninja Woman the first time we see her, but in the attempted rape scene, all she can do is scream "Robin, Robin!" and throw a candle at the Sheriff. Historical inaccuracies abound. Ditto all that has been said (all true) about Costner's accent. Stick to The Adventures of Robin Hood (Flynn in tights still comes off as far more masculine than Costner every thought of being), or the Disney Version (it has a few fun songs by Roger Miller instead of that abrasive Bryan Adams tune. Beautiful production, lousy script). And why did they have to add a Ceasearean, Celts, and Robin's illegitimate brother? They didn't think the script was convoluted enough? Brightest moment: Sean Connery's return from captivity. Too bad they didn't rescue Richard a little earlier; maybe he could have saved this film.
