Summary: Excellent DVD
Review: Of the many Robin Hoods out there, this one was definately up there with the best of 'em. The story was great, and the DVD was even better. The transfer was good, but the wide screen ratio wasn't that great. The audio was superb, however, and it sounds great on surround sound. A definite must-buy for any DVD/Robin Hood fan!!

Summary: Worst Robin Hood movie ever made.
Review: This was a disappointment. The Star Trek Robin Hood episode with Q was much better than this. Costner has done some good movies, but this is not one of them. Definitely one to skip.

Summary: IT WAS AN ADVENTUROUS MOVIE THAT DESERVES MORE THAN 5 STARS.
Review: IT WAS AN ADVENTUROUS MOVIE THAT DESERVES MORE THAN FIVE STARS, BECAUSE IT SHOWS HOW THINGS WERE BACK THEN. I LOVE THIS MOVIE. IT'S MY ALL TIME FAVORITE MOVIE. I KNOW IT BY HEART.

Summary: Robin Hood at his Best!!
Review: This is definitly a movie that all can enjoy. Although it doew have some things that aren't true (use of gunpowder, for example) it is overall the best movie that has great action and an even better story-line. Recommended to all Robin Hood lovers.

Summary: Celts in the wrong century?
Review: I liked this movie; it's one of my favorites, in fact. But one thing that irked me was the incorrect portrayal of the Celts.

By the 12th century, Scotland (which is where the ones in the movie seemed to come from) was completely Christian. Calling them devil worshippers and blood drinkers was quite a step in the offensive direction. Nor did they wear war paint, or by that time allow women to fight. All of these customs had died out hundreds of years ago.

But I agree with the rest of you on everything else. This is a wonderful adventure/romance film with many good qualities. Just wanted to clear up that little problem. E-mail me if you have anything to say about it.

Summary: A good adventure flick filled with action, drama, and romance
Review: An excellent twist on the original Robin Hood tale featuring a cast of brilliant actors. Superb costume and music add to the realism that launches you right into the thick of the plot. Probably my favorite movie, Robin Hood is the type of film that will make you laugh, cry, and open your eyes to the limitless capabilities of the motivated human spirit.

Summary: A sexy, warm and often humorous version of an old classic
Review: Costner shines as our hero in this updated version of an old classic. Heartwarming, sensual and funny look at Mr. Hood and the gang

Summary: Disappointing Audio
Review: I was disappointed to find out the Dolby Digitial was only 2.0 (two channel) not 5.1. I feel short changed on an otherwise excellent movie.

Summary: The best Robin out there
Review: This movie is great. The more I see it, the more I like it. It gives the viewer a new, more realistic view of Robin Hood. Kevin Costner plays very well the revolting noble, aided by that excellent actor Morgan Freeman who plays the moorish barbarian. Mary E. Mastrantonio is beautiful here as ever, and together with Kevin they develop the powerfull romantic side of the story. All the characters are very well choosen, Jonh the Little is great!!! This is without any doubt the best version of Robin Hood, the one to remain. The rythm is perfect and also the image. It's the perfect example of a good-old fashion action-adventure-romance movie. Simply great!

Summary: A Moor / Muslim shown in a positive light. Wow!
Review: This is NOT the typical Hollywood - Errol Flynn fairytale. In this film, Azeem is the Muslim of Moorish descent who is the real brains behind Robin Hood. Unlike many Hollywood films which portray Muslims in a negative light, this one is very different. Azeem is shown in a positive light: he prays; refuses alcohol; displays skills unknown in the Dark Ages of Europe e.g. the use of a telescope, use of gunpowder / exlosives, martial arts; resolving a complicated childbirth, inciting the poor to fight against tyranny and oppression being perpetrated by a devil worshipping tyrant supported by Christian priest exploiting the ignorant, superstititous and poor. The film is probably the most accurate reflection of chilvary and integrity of a Muslim in the Dark Ages of Europe fighting evil, ignorance and oppression. No wonder, the Church spent 800 years trying to rid Europe (Spain) of Muslims because the Muslims were helping the exploited. Whoever put this film together was certainly trying to get a powerful message across to those who seek the HISTORICAL TRUTH.
