Summary: Fantastic Movie
Review: I haven't read the book that this movie is based on, but nonetheless, this is one terrific film. The costumes, the scenery, and the music really add to the feel of this movie. Byrne, Irons, Malkovich and Di Caprio put on exquisite performances.

Basically this is the story about King Louis in the 1600's in France. I can't spoil the story for you, but it has humor, romance, action and more twist and turns than you can think of. A great deal of this movie has to deal with the Musketeers, so if you enjoy movies with sword fighting, you are sure to love this.

Bottomline its a great adventure, and its one of the best movies I have seen in a long time.

Dont hesitate to buy this one, its well worth the money spent!

Summary: One of my all time favourite movies
Review: Okay, so let's not pretend that this film is anything like the book. But in my opinion it is better. Let's face it - who wants to see a film where the good Leo ends up back in the mask and all the musketeers end up dead! Not me.

This film has everything to make it a success- wonderfully stirring music, fantastic sets and gripping fight scenes. There is lots of humour aswell - especially when Porthos is trying to hang himself - I laughed and laughed! Leo's acting is not great but it is more than made up for by the 4 older men. Jeremy Irons is absolutely fantastic as the arrogant yet incredibly likeable Aramis (His voice is so gorgeous!) and Gabriel Byrne is also really good as d'Artagnan - he adds devotion and dignity to the role. Both of them really successfully convey the secret agony they are bearing that they cannot share. The women are good aswell, Christine's grief always really gets to me and Anne Parillaud makes a really strong Queen.

It does take a while to really get into it and the mixture of accents is a bit annoying but I really love this film and watch it all the time.

Summary: Much ado about nothing
Review: This is perhaps one of the worst movies I have ever seen. It is disappointing for several reasons. One it does not do justice to the excellent writing of Dumas. Two, the directing is poor, managing to elicit less than spectacular acting from Malkovich, Irons or Depardieu. Three the sword fighting is poor. Fourth the movie drags on without inspiring any particular interest in the supposed heros (except for the scene where Athos goes to revenge his son's death). If you can rent this movie it might be worth an evenings watch. I wouldn't bother buying it.

Summary: Great Acting
Review: The rolls played by Gabriel Byrne (D'Artagnan), Jeremy Irons (Aramis), John Malkovich (Athos) and Gerard Depardieu (Porthos) were very well done. I felt what they said, and I recommend this movie to anyone. Brilliant costumes. The plot was very easy to follow and anyone who sees this movie will love/hate Leonardo DiCaprio. All actors and actresses were VERY convincing!

Summary: THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK
Review: WHEN I RENTED THIS VIDEO I DIDN'T EXPECT TO WATCH IT FIVE TIMES (EVERY DAY) BEFORE I RETURNED IT. NOW, I'M IN THE MARKET OF PURCHASING THIS FOR MY COLLECTION. YES, I CAN STILL WATCH THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN. IRONICALLY, IT WAS NOT THE MAIN CHARACTER (TITANIC BOY) WHO WAS THE BAIT BUT THE STORY LINE AND ITS CHARACTERS. LEO WAS GREAT IN THE TITANIC BUT HE WAS NOT THE REASON FOR WANTING TO OWN THIS VIDEO!

Summary: I liked it!
Review: Let me first say that I do not expect to find historical accuracy on the big screen, nor do I expect commercial films to be (necessarily) true to their literary predecesors. What I do expect from a film is to be entertained! I found this movie funny, tragic and moving. The honor shown by the Musketeers, Byrne, Irons, Malkovich & Depardieu, was glorious to watch. No, life isn't like that. But life is with me every day, when I see a movie I want to be suspended, briefly, from the usual and brought into a different world. I liked this movie.

Summary: I demand my two hours back!
Review: This movie is so bad that I should have asked for a refund of my wasted time. The review below is SO right about the movie being twisted into a tawdry sex plot. I have not read the book but I have a mind to. It has got to be better than this mess.

Once again, moviemakers change history at a whim. (D'Artagnan and the Queen; Making Louis XIV out to be a benevolent monarch, the same guy who worked peasants to death digging canals so he could have all of his fountains run at the same time! ) As for anachronistic casting, it is only scraping the surface of what is wrong with this film.

Cliches abound. (Check out the heroes walking out of a cloud of gunsmoke like they were $10,000 an hour supermodels) When Christine hangs herself, the only emotion it incites is mild relief. As for the twins: one is a wimp and the other is a valley girl. Gee, which one am I SUPPOSED to like?

The sad part is that the cast includes some excellent actors (Depardieu, Irons). I do not know whether it is direction, writing or both but they are not allowed to shine.

The 3 musketeers behave completely out of character. This is yet another reason to avoid this film if you are a fan of Alexandre Dumas, if you enjoy historically accurate movies (the costumes are from 20 years later on the men, on the women I have no idea where they got them. Gone With the Wind maybe) avoid this movie as you would the proverbial plague

Summary: Oh please!
Review: Now, girls, be honest, I know 98% percent of you saw this movie simply to see Leonardo DiCaprio. I actually read the book before I saw the movie, and the movie doesn't even deserve the same title. The movie totally departs for what is a magnificent book, and twists it all around in to this sex story that I found totally unappealing. And DiCaprio? Can there be a worse man for the part? And the blonde girl he falls in love with ( I think her name is Christine) I challange you to find me someone who is a worse actress than her. Plus, she obviously had the brain mass of a drunken parrot. And that doesn't even begin to pick at the whole love affair between the Queen and D'Artangan (pardon my spelling)that absolutely sickened and appalled me.

Summary: great movie!
Review: This movie was great! Leonardo DiCaprio and the rest of the actors and actresses who came out in it was totally wonderful! Many people say that Leonardo DiCaprio stinks in this movie but I don't think he does.Of course,Leo didn't use any accents like the others did but, he just can't say the accents like the others. I thought the movie was almost close to the way the book was written except that they put some extra parts or took out some parts of the book but you can still tell what the story is about. I think it's great book and recommend it to everybody.I really enjoyed it and still doesn't get tired of it even if I see it over and over. Every time I watch it, more I feel that it is really good and more I understand it. ONE FOR ALL,ALL FOR ONE!

Summary: wonderful movie
Review: I read the book "The Man in the Iron Mask" and decided to watch the movie, also because I am one of big fan of Leonardo DiCaprio. After I saw this movie, they had some parts that it wasn't the same as the movie but, I thought the movie showed enough of the story.Leonardo DiCaprio acted very well there as two different characters,I thought. I think this movie is really good.
