Summary: Gagging on Disneyfied version
Review: This is the absolute worst rendition of the Dumas story ever filmed. Especially pathetic are the acting skills, or lack thereof, of the four musketeers themselves. Even worse, if possible, is the sneering, leering Tim Curry in a role he should never been given. Avoid this dog at all costs. See instead, the versions starring real actors such as Reed, Chamberlain, York, Heston, and many others.

Summary: Get off your high horse people.Geeez
Review: If I see another review from someone saying this is not like the book I will get another ulcer to match the ones I already have. This is just great entertainment.I read the book in high school and again in college. You know what.....great book, great movie and they stand on their own.Disney wasn't trying to make a faithful adaption to Dumas's work. They wanted to make good family fun and they did.Lighten up people.

Summary: Fun in France
Review: Ok...so you like period pieces and comedies. This is the movie for you. The acting is warm; the good guys are good, the bad guys are bad, and there's plenty of good comedic dialogue. Bloodless violence and subtle sexual innuendo leaves this a family film fit for any over the age of 8. It is fun. It is escapist. It is entertaining. Not "great film" but a heck of a lot better than a lot in that exalted category.

If, on the other hand, you insist on historical accuracy, slavish adherence to Dumas' masterpiece, and grim permeating darkness, you won't care for this film a bit. Real film critics probably don't like the film...but then they almost never like what I do. The acting isn't crisp; the plot is only vaguely believable. The filming is adequate, but not inspired.

Summary: Don't Waste Your Time or Money
Review: This has got to be one of the worst movies I have ever had the misfortune to have paid to see. I really can't put into words just how horrible it is. It failed on every possible level. The acting was extremely bad, including Tim Curry's pitiful performance. The writing was a travesty. The directing was miserable. Everything about it stank on ice. But I think the thing that I hated most about was the way that they absolutely butchered Dumas' classic story. To call this picture The Three Musketeers is false advertising. The story is NOT the Three Musketeers. Don't waste your time or money on this. Instead, I recommend the fantastic The Three Musketeers/The Four Musketeers with Michael York, Oliver Reed, Charlton Heston, Christopher Lee, and Raquel Welch. Those two movies are 5 star performances.

Summary: My all time favorite
Review: I LOVE IT! I've watched it about 5 times and I still absolutely love it. It makes me laugh every single time. The Musketeers all totally crack me up (Especially Porthos!), D'Artagnon was just the right mixture of arrogance, innocence, and charm, the cardinal was the perfect charming-but-evil villain, and Rebecca de Morney was an excellant mysterious seductress. There were several great lines and hysterical scenes, and it was obvious that the actors had fun making it. Who can resist a film where the actors are obviously enjoying themselves? It's contagious.

Summary: Don't waste your time!
Review: This film is a dog. Ok, Tim Curry was entertaining, but don't waste your time. Try Lester's 1974 film of the same name. You wont regret it.

Summary: Not Your Classic Disney Movie, and not like the Book
Review: I personally love the book, and I was not at all disappointed when I saw this movie. In fact, it was the movie that spurred me to read the book. If you're a bookworm and expect movies to follow the books they are based on, then this is not for you. The only two things that the book and the movie have in common are the character names and the setting. However, when you watch the movie its like reading another version of the book. It's interesting because if you have read the book you still can not predict what is going to happen. The acting is fairly good, not the best I've seen. However, the actors are really cute (especally d'Artagnan). It's a whole new outlook to The Three Musketeers. Watch and enjoy!

Summary: this is a very funny movie
Review: this so good its not much on the real book but it is so funny that i think it is so good that it makes up for it.

Summary: It's good for certain people
Review: I liked this movie, but that doesn't mean everyone would. It doesn't follow the bokk very well, and the acting isn't quite what one would expect. However, it contains beautiful scenes *one image of birds taking off into the sunset leaps ito mind*. Also, if you love Disney movies, this one should be perfect for you! I loved the adorable characters and the great set and costume designs. I really suggest this movie for younger (about 7-13) audiences and people who don't care if it is consistant with literature. I would give it a B+.
