Summary: Back in the day
Review: This wonderful Disney classic proves what Disney should be; charming, musical, loveable, and teaching good morals. And yet nowadays, they're coming out with movies not coming up to Disney standards at all. What ever happened to Disney movies like Jungle Book or Robin Hood or Sleeping Beauty? They've changed so much, and to be honest, I completely hate the new movies they've come out with in the past few years. This movie really proves what Disney movies should be. It shows it was written and produced back in the day when Disney movies were actually good.

Review: Just wanted to let people know that the 1.33:1 full screen aspect ratio *is* the original theatrical aspect ratio (even though it is from 1973), so you should buy this now & don't hold out for an anamorphic widescreen presentation--it'll never happen!

Summary: An interesting adaptation
Review: Disney always manages to shine when it comes to their animated features. Though, it's no secret that they tend to recreate the works they base their movies on. "Robin Hood" is no exception. The main story is basically the same, aside from the fact that we're in a kingdom overrun with personified animals, and while not really an adaptation of the book, it still is very entertaining. Definitely one that children will treasure and any Disney fan will enjoy.

Summary: 'Robin Hood' Rocks! Buy This Movie!
Review: 'Robin Hood' is my favorite Disney Movie ever. It really is a classic film, and also, sadly, one of the most overlooked. Yet I have watched this a billion times, and I can't wait to replace my old, worn out, Classics Edition VHS with the new Gold Classic Collection DVD soon!This movie is mostly compared to the 1967 classic 'The Jungle Book' and for good reason. The villians, the snakes, both look like each other, and for the main villian they either have a lion or a tiger. Also Phil Harris plays a bear in both movies. Even though 'The Jungle Book' is more well known, I believe 'Robin Hood' is better. Anyway, 'Robin Hood' has all the cast being animals, so it gets really funny at parts. It's about Robin Hood and Little John who are stealing from the rich and giving to the poor because the tyrant, evil, phony King of England, Prince John, (who usurped the crown from his elder brother, King Richard who went on a holy crusade against the Muslims), Sir Hiss, the slithery snake who is the duke and aide of the king, and the big Sheriff of Nottingham along with his aides Trigger and Nutsy are charging the heart and soul of the people with their taxes. So, Prince John really wants Robin Hood jailed, so he brings his niece, Maid Marian, in from London because he knows that Robin and Marian used to like each other a long time ago. He holds an archery tournament to get Robin in, and Robin does come, disguised as a stork. The winner gets to kiss Maid Marian, so Robin is excited. Yet, Robin is outsmarted, yet he gets away in the nick of time. Then, Prince John tries another approach; to triple the taxes. Yet, when no one can pay their taxes, the whole population of Nottingham is jailed (except Robin Hood, Little John, Lady Kluck, Maid Marian, Friar Tuck and all royalty). When this does not work, he plots to hang one of Robin's and Little John's best friends, Friar Tuck. Yet in an outstanding climax, Robin Hood and Little John rescue Friar Tuck and the population of Nottingham and get back all the money. Soon, King Richard returns, and Prince John, Sir Hiss, The Sheriff of Nottingham, Trigger and Nutsey are jailed. Robin and Marian get married, and they live happily ever after. Get this DVD. It's wonderfully digitally remastered and restored like never before, and the bonus features are superb. I love this favorite movie of mine and everyone will too. It's a true classic, and Prince John is really funny! :) And when you get it, get it from Amazon.com! I know I will! :)

Summary: One of the better Disney DVDs to own
Review: Although I'm not impressed with the amount of bonus materials on the Disney Gold Edition DVDs, Robin Hood is still one of the better Disney animated movies that most Disney fans and families will want to purchase. The picture and sound quality are improved over the VHS version and there are a few bonus features (e.g. trivia game, sing-a-longs) that make this DVD worth the purchase.

Summary: Two generations love it!
Review: This was the first movie I saw, aged 3, in a theater and I lived and breathed Robin Hood for years afterwards! I made sure it was the first movie my daughter, aged 2 1/2 going on 35, saw also. Well, we've got another Robin Hood fanatic! Some of the Disney movies now are just too dark and scary for young kids (or even their parents), as other reviews have mentioned. My one complaint is the same as my parents' was back then--where is the merchandise?? Surely I am not the only parent willing to spend on Robin Hood storybooks, toys etc. I bought the beanie babies a few years ago, but as they are "collectibles" I live in fear that something will happen to them and they can't be replaced (easily)! This is a great movie for younger kids, the fact that there are several child characters for them to relate to is a plus.

Summary: Still loathed by critics and loved by audiences.
Review: When this movie first came out--it was the highest grossing animated feature in history up to that point. And, just as today, critics loathed it while audiences everywhere loved it to pieces. Well, sure, it DOES have extremely obvious flaws, all of which have been pointed out again and again and again over the years... therefore I won't go into them. What I do wish to stress is that the film succeeds because it has a wonderfully charismatic charm that transcends its errors. How many times have I seen it? Countlessly. The delightful characters have stood the test of time (especially Robin himself) and are among classic Disney's most beloved despite "The New Disney"'s treating this title like an embarrassment and refusing to market much merchandise based on it. Oh yes, and the "Love" sequence (both the song and the visuals) remain one of my all-time favourite bits of animation I've ever encountered (and being an animator, I've encountered a LOT). And for those of us who are old enough to have been children when it first came out, it is a sigh-inducing reminder of the lovely innocence that Disney once carried in its animated films compared to the obnoxious garishness of today's overly-self-conscious dreck. Tell all those dumb critics to stuff socks in their mouths. You'll adore this one, and so will your children.

Summary: A true classic...
Review: Having grown up on such movies as "Robin Hood" I think that this Disney movie is a wonderful classic. It may not be as technologically advanced as most other Disney movies, but that just adds to the charm. A touching take on the ageless legend, I reccomend this Robin Hood to everyone.

Summary: This movie is musical all the way through
Review: Robin Hood has to be one of my favorite Disney movies. I've been watching it for as long as I can remember, and it's still great. I just love the friendship between Little John and "Rob" and how well it is portrayed. When I watched it recently, I realized how well I knew it. It's not just the songs that are musical, but the characters' voices as they speak. The cadance is so musical you find yourself remembering the rise and fall even if you don't remember the exact words. I like Phil Harris's performance here a lot better than I like his performance in Jungle Book. I also love all the musical numbers. The man who plays Alan-a-Dale is just wonderful, and "Not in Nottingham" is one of my favorite songs. It is so simple, and yet so sad.

Review: Robin Hood is not my # 1 favorite Disney flick but it is much better than that live action Robin Hood flick starring Kevin Costner! Disney's Robin Hood cartoon flick is cute and a good one for kids especially boys.
