Review: I've heard people say that Johnny Depp will not be nominated because the Academy overlooks this kind of thing, but good acting is good acting and if he's not nominated, I'll be really disappointed. His performance in this movie was simply stunning. In fact, in the movies I've seen him in, he's one of the most talented actors in Hollywood, if not the most talented. I did not go see Pirates because he was the star. I went because it had "pirates" in the title. I was not a fan of Johnny Depp before this film. But since I saw Pirates, I have seen many more of his films and he possesses amazing talent. I also thought Geoffrey Rush did a fantastic job. He's incredibly convincing as the evil Captain Barbossa. Like Johnny, he also delivered his dialogue with a finesse not just anyone would be able to accomplish. Now, to the DVD. I bought it a couple days after it came out and the second disc is just as entertaining as the first disc. I loved the deleted scenes and wondered why a couple of them were not included in the movie. I liked the scene where Jack gets out of jail and points the gun at Will. I also liked the scene where Jack and Elizabeth are marooned on the island and the talk they have while cleaning his gun. I think those should have been included in the movie. The blooper reel is fun, though not nearly long enough. And it was interesting to see how the movie came together from the costumes to the weapons to the scenery to the ships. This is the first DVD I have bought and I'm glad I did. It has much more than the video and it's all entertaining.

Review: Avast ya bloomin' cockroaches! If ye be liking movies about pirates and curses, then ye will enjoy this movie! Johnny Depp plays the awesome pirate who be known to many as Captain Jack Sparrow! Not only does his name sound cool, but his attire is awesomely accurate, and his acting is absoloutely outstanding! Orlando Bloom, also known as Will Turner the son of Bootstrap Bill, plays the blacksmith who befriends the pirate to get to the beautiful Keira Knightly who plays Elizabeth Swan.
Geoffrey Rush plays the cursed Captain Barbosa who sails the seven seas in search of Aztec gold medallions along with a cursed crew of scabrous dogs! Each gold piece be like a puzzle to breakin' the curse. It be the gold that cursed the men in the first place... driven by greed they were. But now, they are consumed by it! Forced to circumnavigate the globe in search of the very things they foolishly spent! I don't want to be givin' away to much of the story, I'll let ye watch the rest and see how ye like it!
Lookin' for adventure on the high sees with a crew of swashbuckling pirates says you? Well, this be the proper movie for ye says I!

Review: MY FAMILY LOVED THIS MOVIE! WE SAW IT AT THE THEATER WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. I PERSONALLY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT AT THE TIME AND WAS PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. IT IS A LOT OF FUN AND HAVING BEEN TO DISNEY WORLD OVER 20 TIMES ITS EVEN MORE FUN TO LOOK FOR ALL OF THE REFERENCES TO THE RIDE. WE TOOK FOUR 8-10 YEAR OLD BOYS WHO SAID "IT WAS THE FUNNIEST MOVIE THEY HAD EVER SEEN". JOHNNY DEPP WAS BRILLIANT! HE PORTRADE A CHARACTER LIKE NONE I HAVE EVER SEEN BEFORE. IF FOR NO OTHER REASON, WATCH IT FOR DEPPS PERFORMANCE.

Review: I really liked the movie, Pirates of the Carribean. I am 11 years old and really enjoyed learning about pirates from the second disk. It tells about the different kinds of pirates, the boats they used and their daily life. I found out that pirates preferred small boats with one large sail because they were faster. Also a pirate's life is difficult because of bad food, water and no dental care. I found out their three main weapons were swords that were shorter than normal with only one sharp side, the captain had a pistol, and small knives called daggers. The boats had cannons. They would follow their target, to see if it was worth taking the ship. They would often fly a flag from a friendly country then raise the skull and crossbones, black flag when they attacked. They also liked to terrorize the other crew with shouting and hand grenades. I thought it was a very interesting and funny movie. So parents go buy this DVD because your kids will learn alot.

Summary: Saw it five times? How?
Review: If you're like me and you've heard everyone talk about this movie before you see it you're in for a disappointment. I was super-pumped to see this movie as all my friends were going 'I saw it five times!' 'It's the best ever!'. Needless to say, I fell into the same trap of finding Nemo. I was dissapointed.The authenticity of the movie is top notch, as any geography major can pick out the Trois Pitons (Caribbean Mountains), in the background, giving you a feel of being in the Caribbean where pirates often roamed. The movie is funny. Though I expected to be dying of laughter (for your info I wasn't.) However, I have to give the writers compliments where compliments is due,the lines will get some hilarious laughter from you if you were even semi-amused by Finding Nemo. Humour however was carried mostly by Johnny Depp. This brilliant actor is what made this movie a blockbuster. Every move he made was hilarious. He definitley got into character. Plot in itself is not worth the ticket sales. Will Turner is madly in love with Elizabeth after he was rescued from a pirate ship by her father and crew (sickening and unbelievable if you ask me). This was my peeve about the movie. They're in love with each other but Elizabeth's father wants her to marry some other man because Will is not in her social stature. She even keeps his amulet around her neck, which is what eventually gets her into trouble. She is abducted by pirates. Will, being the love sick puppy he is, teams up with Johnny Depp to save fair Elizabeth. A true Disney tale. However the special effects, funny plot, and action make up for this. Well worth the money for the DVD. Seeing it over 5 times in the theatres, I am yet to comprehend.

Summary: Ripping good fun!!
Review: I too have never been on the ride at Disneyland and almost didn't watch the movie because it was made by Disney! Johnny Depp is at his best! We were watching the DVD wondering what combination of characteristics Depp came up with to develop his character. Orlando Bloom whether by design or whatnot is disappointing as Will Turner his character doesn't have much more emotion than Legolas in the Lord of the Rings. Much more of this and I'm going draw the conclusion that the man can't act! Depp steals the show.
As for the DVD, some people may have problems with the second DVD. There's very fine print on the back of the box that says not all features are available on all players. And the blooper reel is a bit of a disappointment. The producers did a sort of blooper montage and it seemed too short.
