Review: I remember seeing this in the theatre and on video. I loved it on both. Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins, and beautiful Catherine Zeta-Jones bring this classic tale to life. There have been 40 versions of this film and Antonio Banderas is the first Hispanic/Latin actor to star in it. As the story goes, the old Zorro (Hopkins), trains a new Zorro (Antonio Banderas), to reclaim his daughter (Zeta-Jones), and avenge his enemy. Filled with comedy, fun, warmth, adventure, this film is for everybody. From beginning to end this film is outstanding. I remember visiting in California, and my dad and uncle were arguing over how beautiful Catherine was, ha-ha. Antonio Banderas is hilarious, Hopkins shines, and Catherine is breathtaking. Enjoy!

Review: If you're looking for a good movie, find The Mask Of Zorro. There are very funny and interesting parts. There must be only one scene on this movie I don't like. The funny parts: The sword fights, the ancient style freak dancing, and the "Perverted" part. That girl kinda liked him and then he used the sword on both sides of her shirt, which took off her shirt, then she screamed. The interesting parts: Almost everything I haven't mentioned yet.

Review: The story of an aging blade (Anthony Hopkins) passing along his wisdom and his edge to an angry young thief (Antonio Banderas). The young Zorro learns about politics, love, and war, at the feet of his teacher. His quest for personal revenge gives fire to his role as Colonial Mexico's most swashbuckling activist, one who must fight for his country and his woman (the ravishing newcomer Catherine Zeta-Jones, also quite handy with a sword).

Review: This movie was much better than I expected. Most of the reviews when it came out were very poor and that prevented me from watching it until now. But I was very surprised. Anthony Hopkins is excellent as usual and the "love scene" between Zorro (Banderas) and Elena (Zeta-Jones) is an instant classic! This movie is done as a typical super hero type of movie, sort of like Robin Hood and Batman. But it is done in more much of a realistic way, with the viewer being able to relate to most of the characters in the story. I highly recommend this to just about everyone out there. It should be appealing to all demographics.

Review: Some movies are just fun to watch. The Mask of Zorro moves along at a brisk and entertaining pace. Banderas fits perfectly the character of Zorro. The photography is nice and smooth. Anthony Hopkins almost steals the show in the role of Zorro Sr. Some humor, some action, some love....works good. I sincerely liked the movie....and have seen it several times.

Summary: Sensual Swashbuckling Fun
Review: Talk about slasher films. Early on in The Mask of Zorro -- a stylish if old-fashioned swashbuckler best seen on a Saturday night with a giant tub of popcorn -- the eponymous hero, a dashing, sword-wielding Mexican nobleman (Hopkins), carves a bloody "Z" on the neck of the hissable villain (Wilson). Later on, with a few strategic flicks of his blade, the movie's second Zorro (Banderas) causes a beautifully sexual lady's dress to fall to her ankles. Touché. Two Zorros? Yep, and together they're better than one. In this latest twist on pulp-writer Johnston McCulley's venerable 1919 tale about the gallant masked avenger who fights corrupt Spanish rule in 19th-century California, you get suave Hopkins as classic Zorro and sinewy, younger Banderas as his protégé, upstart Zorro. Hopkins, having been imprisoned for 20 years by Wilson, escapes. He soon transforms Banderas, a lowborn thief, into Zorro Jr., and the two team up to beat Wilson, reclaim Hopkins's now grown daughter (Zeta-Jones), who was kidnapped as a baby, and, oh, yes, help oppressed peasants. Too violent for small fry (kids under 8 don't need to see impalings or a cut-off head floating in a water bottle), Zorro is snappily directed by James Bond vet Martin Campbell (GoldenEye). But what this film really has going for it are full-blooded performances by its two leads. As Katharine Hepburn once said of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, "He gives her class, and she gives him sex." Ditto for these two. Hopkins classes up Zorro, while Banderas makes it sizzle.

Review: This movie left me breathless. Historically accurate and beautifully choreographed, The Mask of Zorro is one of those movies that carry with it a glimpse of what Hollywood movies used to be...adventurous and passionate. This film was put together like a full course meal...each plate is more enticing than the last, finally culminating in the grand finale...a good taste in the mouth, and a satisfied sigh. The sword fighting scenes are brilliantly executed. Anthony Hopkins is as distinguished and attractive as ever. Antonio Banderas is on fire, his energy palpable. Catherine-Zeta Jones is stunning, which couples wonderfully with her character's wild-hearted personality. See this movie, and be amazed!

Summary: Exciting take on an old classic
Review: Sometimes, movies are not meant to be thoughtful, deep, or insightful. Sometimes, they're just made to entertain, and MASK OF ZORRO delivers that entertainment in spades!!! Set in the days of Spanish California, this flick tells the tale of Don Diego Vega (Anthony Hopkins), who was the original Zorro. In a plot very much like the classic "Count of Monte Cristo", Diego is suprised by his foe, Governor Montero. He sees his wife killed, baby daughter kidnapped, and is doomed to spent life in prison. 20 years later, Diego escapes to wreak his revenge, but is halted when he learns that Montero has adopted his daughter (the beautiful and spirited Catherine Zeta-Jones). Diego recruits another vengeful soul (Antonio Banderas), who has lost his brother to Montero's henchman, Capt. Love. Diego's attempt to make his new protege the next Zorro is main focus of the plot. Told in a fast paced & fun style, this film has everything for the action film fan: great sword fighting, passionate romance, and a health dose of wit & warmth. All 3 leads are splendid and this film is well worth your time. Highly recommended.
