Summary: Spawn is OK; Great special effects
Review: I was truly impressed with Michael Jai White and would like to know if anyone has any information on him. If you like dark, satanic-oriented movies, and great special effects, you'll like this movie. Just don't go for the great dialogue. Please forward any information on Michael Jai White.

Summary: I almost want to give it two stars.
Review: Whist the special effects are pretty cool, the movie is a let down in comparison with the comics.

It's not dark enough, the story isn't hard enough, and the acting is pretty poor. It could have been so much more than the fairly mediocre action movie it turned out to be.

The Director's Cut is better than the cinema release of the title, which is why it gets three stars, not two.

Summary: They Made A Sequel?
Review: I can't believe this even made it out on video. This is the worst video I have ever seen. I kept thinking through the whole video, if only they had a plot, talented actors, and a good director. But wait, that is what entirely makes up a video! If I ever see another copy of this video, I will set it on fire so as to prevent others from the horror they would surely face. But since the director obviously didn't spend too much money making this movie, they didn't lose much of an investment. When I went on-line to give my review, I was flabergasted that they actually made a sequel to such a terrible movie. Trust me, I won't make the same mistake again. I urge you, don't waste your time on this video. It could be better spent watching grass grow or watching paint dry.

Summary: could have been a lot better
Review: Spawn is a perfect example of a movie that could have been a classic for its special effects if its story had been better. The transitions in the movie were horrible and Martin Sheen isn't very good as Jason Wynn. The running time was also too short. 93 minutes was not long enough to feel connected with the characters. There also could have been a great subplot of a love triangle between Wanda, Terry, and Spawn, but somehow Spawn easily accepted the fact that Wanda is Terry's wife. Not to mention the comic book is quite graphic, but this movie features only green blood. However, these bad parts couldn't degenerate the good parts of the movie. The special effects are great, although Malebolgia looked fake. The performances by John Leguizamo and Michael Jai White are excellent. This film features a lot of crude humor and a breathtaking battle between Spawn and the demon Violator. Hopefully, the sequel will be more faithful to the comic and have more characterization. I think Todd Macfarlane should direct and write it.

Summary: stupid stupid movie
Review: This is one of the most disapointing movies I have ever seen. It started out stupid and it ended stupis. The people that made this film only payed money for the speacial effects and didn't even think about the plot.John Legosomo is a terrible actor and in his charecter he tried to be funny, well he wasen't at all.The movie moved so slow I went to bed early especially when john leagozomo tried to be funny. The action scenes in that movie were stupid and the dialoge wasen't any good. The only thing that was well done about the movie was the special effects which they spent to much money on that instead. I would not recamdend this movie to anyone at all.

Summary: THIS AIN'T SPAWN...
Review: I've read the Spawn comic for the past five years, and this movie doesn't do it justice. The animated series is a lot better. At least this isn't as bad as the Blade movie.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Yawn.
Review: What works in a comic book or cartoon doesn't work as film. Terribly immature. Special effects are abundant, but no more special than any present in any recent films in the dark, violent genre. John Leguizamo goes over the top and becomes tiresome within the first five minutes.

Don't waste your time. If you want a dark, violent film full of special effects go for the much better, much smarter BLADE.

Summary: Antimated spawn is better
Review: This wasn't that good of a movie. Clown was funny in some parts. But the rest of the movie wasn't that good. I do like the soundtrack though.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Boring childish desaster
Review: I expected an adult movie, as dark and cynic as the comics. What I saw was a children's film, with a ridiculous story and silly dialogues. Are there no more science-fiction movies for people older than eight ? I liked the special effects and the soundtrack, but this film will be evidence for everybody to claim that science-fiction and comics are for simple-minded people. For a few moments it creates a sinister atmosphere like "The Crow", but most times "Spawn" is very disappointing.

Summary: Appallingly horrible-please erase this movie from my mind
Review: The story line was terrible, and the clown did lots of immature not funny things like flammable farts. The special effects were really good in most parts but the Devil looked so stupid and fake that the only reason we stayed through this bloodfart of a movie was so we could laugh at the Devil some more. His mouth didn't move hardly at all when he spoke--we still imitate it to this day. A shame, I thought the person who played Spawn was a decent actor, and it was a nice change to see a black main character that isn't playing some negative sterotype. But that couldn't make up for the horrible storyline.
