Summary: A Low Budget Movie starring a low budget Marvel anti-hero
Review: In the Punisher, what you see is what you get. When his family is killed, Frank Castle goes underground to seek revenge on the underworld. It's standard gunfire with dead gangsters everywhere, That's how the Punisher comic is, and this movie gives you the same thing. No grand film making, just a film about a man who fell into the pit of darkness, never to return.Filmed under a $4 million dollar budget. Went Straight To Video and to be ranked alongside the low budget films of Captain America and the Generation X TV movie has among the worst of Comic to Film productions.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Stays mostly true to the comics
Review: Lundgren plays the Punisher mostly true to the comics original. The movie is full of fight scenes and explosions that look pretty good for a B movie that's a decade old. Admitedly, the plot has more than it's share of holes, but it is still a fun movie. And at this price, definitly worth it.

Summary: The Punisher - The Ultimate Review
Review: Yes, I hear you asking "five stars! ". But, I have my reasons. Firstly, Dolph Lundgren as Frank Castle (AKA The Punisher) is an absolute joy to watch. He displays no emotion in his nuanced depiction of a burnout ex-cop who's family were killed by the mob in a car-bombing. The one liners are gems: "What the hell do you call 125 murders in five years! " "Work in progress...". The film reads like an A-Z of 80's movie cliches, and it is fully comprehensive. It's a case of so bad its good. Watch it and be transported back to a time where CGI had no place and neither did storyline. Absolute poetry! An interesting footnote: Lundgren had his blonde hair dyed black for the part, so consequently his designer stubble did not show up. The genius make-up team decided to smear charcoal on his face instead! The elation of it all.

Summary: Punisher fan says this SUCKETH
Review: This stinker pretty much went straight to video. It's lame, has no plot, and makes a mockery of the Punisher. Where's his sidekick? Why are they preaching that it's wrong to kill murderous gangsters? I had to write a quick review just to bring the average stars down. This DVD should get the coaster of the Millenium award.

Summary: Unusually good comic book film!
Review: I have read all of the Punisher comics and they actually made a movie that measures up! The atmosphere was right the acting especially on Dolphs part was good(His best performance). The only comic book movie that was done better would be Batman(PART 1!). The DVD is not bad for quality, sure as hell is better than the video. Must buy!

Summary: Movie Holds True to Comic Rendition
Review: The thing that makes this film so good is the fact that it portrays the punisher as he is in the comic books; dark, menacing and indiscriminate in the execution of his duties. Its gets only four stars for the cheesyness it sometimes displays and the fact that it's obviously a low-budget movie but there are other low-budget films that made it big. Highlander is an excellent example. When Goldblatt picked Lundgren as his choice to portray the Punisher he hit the nail right on the head. He makes a GREAT Punisher. The Punisher was a big, burly, strong guy in the comics and so is Lundgren. He also gives an excellent performance. And who's to say the Punisher didn't dye his hair black to hide his true identity?

Summary: Too common
Review: Everyone knows that this movie is based on the comic book character by the same name. But it doesn't seem like it when watching. Every element that made Punisher so unique on the comic book pages is gone. The character has simply been turned into just another maniac with a big gun. Although filled with good action scenes, comic book fans are advised to skip this one.

Summary: too cool especially when doph drops to one knee
Review: Has a plot, has style, has one liners that are well placed. Especially like the Punisher w/brunette hair that Dolph creates...because there is a reason to that stoic mumbling...and the character has that look in the eye...especially like when Punisher interacts with kid(s)...and when he explains himself. Challenging action.
