Summary: The Second Best Superhero film of all time
Review: This was the most exciting, action packed, yet human, of any superhero film made to date. For overall quality, it is second only to the first Batman movie with Jack Nicholson's over the top portrayal of the Joker. It blows away the cheezy Superman movies. The top three of the genre, in order, are Batman, Spider-man and the X-Men. Tobey Maguire is perfectly cast as the socially awkward Peter Parker and Willem Dafoe is a tremendous Green Goblin/Norman Osborn. The special effects, acting and screenwriting warrant five stars.

Summary: Over the top, or over the web...
Review: Incredible special effects in this vivid telling of how Spider-Man came to be, well, Spider-Man. Maguire is good in the lead. All style and no substance, but it does do a good job of explaining the character's history. No one who reads the original Marvel comics will remember Spidey getting in the ring with Macho Man (but then again, they've probably never heard of the EVIL DEAD, which would be a blessing if they haven't), but this film is a worthy companion to the excellent animated series produced in the 90s upon which its based. Raimi's direction is not Oscar material, but at least he didn't use that god-awful shaki-cam (or Sam Ram-a-cam). Rated PG-13; mild carnage and violence.

Summary: Entertaining, but poor as a film
Review: Spiderman is a relatively entertaining film which is not unpleasant to watch. However, it is ridiculously predictable and has too obvious an agenda. Despite the fact that I don't read comics at all, I could predict everything before it happened. The goodie and baddie were far too clichéd and the whole thing could drop into pastiche frequently.

As for it's purpose, it is far too obvious. Spiderman starts out as a geek and is transformed into a guy with superpowers who is then also attractive to the girl. This is a blatant geek's dream and the film is obviously made so that geeks think 'wow, I could be like that'. This makes the whole thing horribly contrived. Films should be made as a good film, not something with an agenda like that.

Furthermore, the kind of cheesy sentimentality that marks this film out make it worse. 'With great power comes great responsibility' is a horribly cheesy phrase with makes me want to puke. Equally annoying is the 'America is great, everybody' notion unnecessarily imprinted on it. We did not need a shot of the American flag to close out the film, nor do we need all the subtle references throughout the film.

Other annoyances include the fact that when he has to come to the big decision of saving the girl or the boxful of kids, there is a predictable cop-out of him saving both. Overall, while enjoyable, this film is predictable and too purposeful and obvious in its message, making it cheesy. 2 stars.

Summary: not too bad ...
Review: Is Spiderman entertaining? Mostly. However, when this movie goes bad, it goes really bad. The awful way the sequel setup manages single handedly to knock the rating down a star. The acting is adequate for a summer movie (though Willem Defoe rocks), and the effects are good (also expected for a summer movie). I like that a moral is included (or beaten in). The fight scenes are just OK, and the pacing could be sped up a little. Best movie ever? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Summary: WHY? WHY?????
Review: Ok, this is an 'ok' movie for kids. But seriously, it's HORRIBLE! I saw it as a 12:00 midnight showing for [less money] and im still [angry] about seeing it. Terrible visuals! Sam is a terrible director for several reasons. The acting is bad, the camera work is bad, perspective of things alters, and it doesn't make any sense! If spider-man DIDN'T jump out of the way at the end of the movie, the green goblin would be dead anyway! (I hope i'm ruining this for someone). However, i'm not all complaints here: from this horrible, horrible script with terrible dialog, they made an 'ok' movie. Notice how I say movie, not film...

Summary: Spider-Man Is The Best Movie of 2002
Review: I don't really like fullscreen DVD's, but I wanted to be the first one to review this DVD. Spider-Man is pretty much one of the best superhero films next to Batman. I'm so glad that Danny Elfman composed the music. He is my favorite music composer. Sam Raimi did good direction for this film, and Tobey Maguire did good as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I am very excited to get this DVD when it comes out on Nov. 1. I will definitely be getting it the first day it comes out.

Review: Spiderman it's the best comic book-movie adaptation of all time!

I'm really looking forward for the DVD, there are a lot of extras, and if the DVD looks the same as the trailer in the Black Hawk Down DVD...... WOW!

Summary: Good movie, asesome effects!
Review: I wasn't too interested in seeing this movie but my mother & 9 year old daughter were so I tagged along. I'm glad I did as I thoroughly enjoyed myself! Another great movie for the entire family, not just for kids - not just for adults but for everyone! The special effects are wonderful! Tobey Maguire is on his way to making his name a household word! If there is a sequel (and we all know there will be) the studio would be fools not to sign Tobey Maguire up again as he is your "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!"

Summary: 30+ Years Later- More Popular Than Before!
Review: Spider-man is one of the best movies I have ever seen. I have been a fan since I was 5 years old and this movie didn't disappoint. The computer generated graphic were so realistic, it felt like you were in the movie. Tobey Maguire did a great job portraying Peter Parker, smart and geeky, finally becoming the cool, confident super hero. The movie is worth the money to see and when it comes out on DVD, it will be a must have!
