Review: Just recently, I ordered the Batman 4 DVD gift set and this one was the first of the series. I loved it from begining to end. I like how Director Tim Burton gives Gotham City ad it's surrondings such a dark touch and all. And the acting, oh yes, the acting: Micheal Keaton was good and mild-mannered as Bruce Wayne and perfectly dark as Batman. Kim Basinger was cheesy and sexy to watch as the damsel in destress and Jack Nicholson steals the scenes as The Joker. Excellent movie!! Get it before it runs out of stock, hurry!!!! I showed this to my grandfather and surprisingly, he sat through the whole thing. Maybe it was liking for movies about crime and shooting (he watches westerns all the time)!

Review: Batman is the best Super hero out there, and he all ways will be. The movie starts off with awesome music, which gets you ready for a joy ride with no seat belt. It's a normal night in Gotham City just your regular crime spree of thugs, and to top it all off with a strawberry on that Sunday a man with no fear, no rules, no respect for the law, no constitution except "Justice"! Comes and kicks the buts of all evil doers "ENTER THE BATMAN"!
He is a man with vengeance so powerful that all crime must pay, he is the dead of the night, he is the shadow of the night, hell his is the night period, and he dresses as a bat. In the beginning he shows all viewers this. Next the movie takes you on a looptyloop when a sinister psychopath is born, lady's and gentlemen I give you the king of laughs, the master of gestures, the ruler of sick demented mind games "THE JOKER"! The only one who dares to challenge Batman, and that's when your admission is bought for a masterpiece of a movie.

Review: The ladder is the second sentence uttered by the imposing Dark Knight, and it helps launch the spectacular "Batman," rich in noir-tinged storytelling, larger-than-life production design, director Tim Burton's ambitious vision, Danny Boyle's muscular, rhythm-driven score and sure-footed acting. All of these elements contribute to to craft a modern classic, one that makes the last two Batman films directed by Joel Schulmaker look like child's play (no pun intended).The film picks up in a Gotham City, a crime-infested metropolis on the verge of giving into its decadence. Into this comes Batman (played with brooding brilliance by Michael Keaton), a caped, seemingly indestructable vigilante who fights crime at night. On one occasion, he fights crime lord-to-be Jack Napier (Jack Nicholson) and sees him fall into a vat of chemicals. This eventually turns Napier into the Joker. The whole story is concocted by Sam Hamm, who gives it a steady-pace to let the story tell itself and allowing plantey of time for plot and character development, something Joel Schulmaker desparetly needs. Also caught between Batman and Joker, is the vuloptuous Vicky Vale (Kim Basinger) whom both Joker and Batman take a liking to. To perfectly complement the dark story, is gritty and shady production design by Anton Fursk, who won and Oscar for his work, and deservedly so. Fursk captures the essence of Gotham City, which is its dirty and deviant underbelly and dark tones. And Director Tim Burton uses them to all their extent, which, when combined with Burton's ambitious, visually stunning direction, makes Batman into what it should be. And Danny Elfmans' sinewy score sets a perfect musical complement to the films' spectacular visual elements. To make "Batman" complete, there is confident acting by all the cast. The best is Micheal Keaton as the brooding Dark Knight/Bruce Wayne and Jack Nicholson as Jack Napier/Joker as he flashes his killer smile proudly. Nicholson is the highlight of the film, having as much fun as possible with his maniacally gleeful character. But right there with him is Michael Keaton, who the ideal actor for Batman and Bruce Wayne. He perfectly captures the brooding essence of both men, proving he is by far the best Batman so far. But both Kim Basinger and Robert Wuhl turn in exceptional performances as reporters trailing Batman. Arguably, this first entry into the Batman franchise is the best. It had the production designer, the script, the composer, the director and the cast to make it a classic. It seems timeless, having aged gracefully into this new millenium, which is quite a statement. And by all predictions (including mine), it will stay that way.

Review: Tim Burton did an excellent job on turning "Batman" into a dark somewhat troubled guy. Im sure everyone has seen this movie by now, i seen it on tv the other day and forgotten how good it was. In all the sequels i don't think no one pulled off Batman better than "Micheal Keaton" he was the perfect batman. And the main thing that makes Batman such a classic, and such a great film is the living legend "Jack Nickelson" as the joker. With such great acting and storytelling, this movie had know where to go but in the classic catagory.

Review: BATMAN is more a Tim Burton movie than a comic book adaptation. Gotham City is clearly a creation of the artist who will build the world of EDWARD SCISSORHANDS one year later. The problem with Michael BATMAN Keaton is that he is able to be himself only when he's disguised as a bat or hidden in his steeled batcar. He has to wear a mask to protect his face. The Joker, on the contrary, doesn't have a mask ; in fact, his face is already a mask. He loves to work on raw material (pitiful Jerry Hall!) or poison cosmetic articles in order to recreate his satanic smile on his victim's faces. BATMAN is a movie which has to be appreciated for a lot of reasons. It's a really good entertainment, the cinematography is great and full of visual ideas, the story can be read at different levels and, last but not least, the musical score will stay as one of the all-time best. Too bad there are no special features to be remembered of. A DVD zone twilight.

Review: The first time I saw Batman I was 5 years old.I fell in love with the movie,after that I became a huge Batman fan.Then I started buying the toys,seeing all the cartoons and movies,also reading his comic books.Tim Burton does a great job in capturing the darkness of Batman unlike joel schumacher did in Batman forever,especially in batman and Robin.Michael Keaton does his best performance of his life as batman and bruce Wayne,jack nicholson does a great performance as joker in this movie.I give it a 5/5 rate.buy it you won't regret it at all.

Review: There isnt a single boring moment in this movie except the scene where Vikki Vale is on her first date with Bruce Wayne but even that is somewhat fascinating.The movie starts out with 2 crooks who are disagreeing about whether Batman is real or not.The unbeleiver was proved wrong when Batman rushes up to hold him over the building. I love it when Batman says "Im not going to kill you.I want you to do a little favor.I want you to tell your friends about me.
Then Jack Napier enters the picture as someone who is very dramatic and works in organized crime. I love the part when they go to start havoc in the chemical plant. Batman again enters the picture and uses a device to attach to Jack's face and Jack falls in.It makes no sense how he becomes the Joker from being put into a vat of chemicals but hey this is fantasy not reality.
This movie is sure to please people who have a dark sense of humour.Theres tons of lines the Joker says that fall into the macabre sense of humour.For instance he uses a hand buzzer to finish off one of the workers it heats him up to death until hes dead and the Joker is like "Antwan got a little hot under the collar".
Batman as a character always kicks ... even against the joker.
I wont say anything more except that the movie is just amazing.

Summary: Very well done but with minor flaws
Review: I have been a huge Batman fan for over 35 years. Have collected many comic books, own different videos including the 1943 & 1949 movie serials. This version of the Dark Knight was the most eagerly anticipated version in years. I enjoyed the movie so much that I saw it twice in the theater. The only thing that I was a little disappointed was with how Bruce Wayne became Batman when his parents were murdered. The original version in the comics says that they were killed by Joe Chill, a lowly thief. In the movie version, the killer was a young Jack Napier who later became the Joker. I understand why the producers made this change. So that Batman could have a double motive to kill the Joker. The Joker's origin was changed also. In the comics he was first The Red Hood who later fell into the vat of chemicals & changed into the Joker. Except for those 2 changes, the movie was basically the same as in the comics. The costume was incredible & so was the Batmobile. The 3 sequels later on were more or less okay. Only Batman & Robin was bad. It looked like the 1966 TV series. BIG MISTAKE. I can't wait for the next one. Hope this review helped.

Review: I have always thought Batman were the best superhero. No mumbojumbo powers, no silly slogans or sickening peace and love.
The 60`s series was totally horrible, it pictured a Batman that was downright embarrasing. There was no style, there was no darkness, only a stupid, dumb fat Batman. Then came Batman the Movie.
Tim Burton saved Batman from the 60`s, took him into a world of nightmares, violence and deaths, changed him from a fat bum with slapstick jokes til a man on the edge with enough vengance to take down the whole Gotham City. Yup, no fun and games anymore.
The story in short words.
Jack Napier is ordered to rob a safe in a chemical plant, but is set up by his boss, and to complicate everything, Batman arrives and everything ends with Napier taking a dip into the acid pool...turning into who we know
as....The Joker. He clicks and starts a spree of crime in Gotham City, and its up to Batman to stop him. Simple but effective, the story is pretty good, while it takes a few liberties with origin of the characters, it does not hinder the movie, but the major key in Bruce Wayne`s story is...well I can understand Tim Burton`s decision, and it was a bit surprising, but also a bit TOO obvious. You`ll see..;) On to the DVD. The movie it self scores skyhigh. But I was very disappointed with the DVD. There is NOTHING on it except for the film. Of course the film is the most important, but hello, we are talking one of the best superhero movies ever. No sweet deleted scenes, no making of, no hidden endings, interviews or anything.
However, if you can look past that, and think the movie is the only thing that you want(which should be enough!), this is an absolute winner. The Cover is simple, but yet it wields so much symbolic power that one cannot help but being impressed by it. I will give the movie 5 stars, but for the simple and poor DVD it gets down to a 4. Dont let it hinder you, this is absolutely one gem you WANT to have in your collection. Highly recommend the soundtrack too(the Score, not the one of Prince)
