Rating: Summary: What happened to Robin? Review: I sure did enjoy the movie. Michael Keaton did a wonderful job as Batman/Bruce Wayne. This was a real action packed movie. I had never seen Batman in a black suit before.
Rating: Summary: Who are you? I'm Batman. Review: In 1989, Tim Burton directed his phenominally successful big budget take on Bob Kane's mythical comic book series, Batman. What surprised the entire civilized world was how intense, dark, and mystically provocative the film turned out to be. The casting of Jack Nicholson as the Joker proved to be the production's masterstroke, though the choice of Micheal Keaton as Bruce Wayne/Batman turned out to a lucky break as well. Tim Burton's usage of updated German Expressinism and Film Noir morphed what could have been a standard superhero movie into an elaboarate exploration into the dark interior of modern metropolitan societies and trumatizied adults. There is a searing honesty to Bruce Wayne's saddness and underlying alienation over the brutal loss of his parents by street thugs so long ago. Keaton's emotionally stiffled face shows all the loss and pain in every scene he appears. The hyestrical dementia of Jack Napier's tansformation into the Joker is so colorfully recreated for Batman with such comical flourish and enthusiasm that Nicholson creates another one of his unforgettable screen personas. Nicholson's Joker maybe a sterotype but he is a lavishely entertaining character that obviously propelled the movie more than any other element. Watch Batman for its unapprecaited gothic atmoshere, zany performances, and genuinely magnificent atmosphere. This was Tim Burton's entrance into mainstream cineama as a considerable talent, and even eleven years later the film is still an enchanting walk into the macabre mind of a master filmmaker.
Rating: Summary: The best one! Review: Based on the DC Comics comic book, it's a story about a young boy whose parents were killed while he watched. The boy then vowed to get even with all the criminals of Gotham City by striking fear in their hearts in the form of a bat.The best movie out of all the installments that would soon follow. This movie not only focuses on Batman, but it also focuses on the life of Bruce Wayne. Unlike the other intallments, this one has more plot and less action.
Rating: Summary: pretty good better than the other ones that have followed Review: this film is pretty good.it's better than the other 3.Tim Burton does a good job but he has done way better films with less cash&hype.Jack Nicholson does a good job.Michael Keaton is real chill.Kim Basinger is her usual dull self.the music overall is hit&miss.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant! Review: I have always loved this film and the joker (Nicholson) is the best villian. I loved the dark, gothic sinister version that Tim Burton made, he brought Batman back to life. The sequels were a bit poor, but this is the best and to me the only Batman film worth buying.
Rating: Summary: A good all rounder Review: Batman is a good example of a movie that can entertain. It has humor, it has action, some nice effects, and a good cast. Most have heard about Batman, but its really not Batman that does this movie, its the movie in general that makes it good, unlike the sequels.
Rating: Summary: Good movie but a little too unrealistic Review: This is a pretty good movie. It's fun to watch when you want to watch something crazy. But if you want to go out and rent a really good movie that will make you think, don't rent this, it's way too unrealistic. It's pretty interesting to see the special effects and stuff though. I rent this about once every year and my mom always laughs at me because it's a kids movie but I rent it for the nostalgia, it's really great to see this movie and remember how much you loved it when you were a kid. Other than that the movie isn't that great and it doesn't look good on DVD.
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite films Review: I really love this movie, and I'm the biggest Batman fan in the world (or at least central Texas) so I'm probably a little biased. I just remember being in awe as a kid when I saw it. No other movie gave me a rush like that. It was true to who the character is. Michael Keaton makes a good Batman, but an even better Bruce Wayne. Marvelous. Of course we know about Jack Nicholson's role in all of this, who could ever forget. Kim Basinger was great in support. Many people found it too dark. Batman's SUPPOSED to be dark (to see what happens when he turns light, check out Batman & Robin, then see me after you wake from your coma). Some thought it was overdone (once again, compare it to Batman & Robin). Well, it's based on a COMIC BOOK! What do you expect? Tim Burton made a post modern gothic spectacular. Gotham City was the night, and Batman owned the night. The other movies don't even compare. It has action, it has characters, it has more atmosphere than the ozone layer. What more could you ask?
Rating: Summary: A CLASSIC FOR YEARS TO COME! Review: Tim Burton has done it again. This time, he takes the classic comic book hero and brings him to life. Jack Nicholson is absolutely brilliant as the Joker and Keaton captures the charecters of Bruce Wayne and Batman. The effects are amazing and the writing is blilliant. What I loved was that it was nothing like the old T.V. show which was corny and stupid unlike this one which was more realistic. I definetely recomend this film to evryone. An instant classic!
