Summary: Probably the Only one
Review: I am probably the only one who doesn't like Spider-Man. I did not like this movie for two reasons, the first reason was the special effects were really bad and most of the time you could see how fake it looked on the movie screen and imagine how it will look on television, the second reason was The Green Goblin he was not convincing as a villian and he wasn't even scary. It even took a little from Batman(1989) in the parade scene when Macy Gray sings and in Batman Prince sings. I'm sorry to people who love this movie but I just don't like this movie at all.

Summary: Spiderman is the best movie of the year...well sorta
Review: Being a spider-man fan for some time, I was thrilled when I saw the first tv ad of the movie. I knew I had to see it. Overall it was a great movie. The web-slinging scenes were spectacular. There were some cheesy parts though. But what bothered me the most was when the 'people' of New York started throwing things at the Green Goblin. I was thinking "Oh no! What the hell is this!?!" I heard that there was supposed to be a helicopter scene, where Spiderman makes a giant web between two buildings to catch the crooks. What happened to it? For a comic-book turned movie, it was great. I can't wait for the DVD to come out.

Summary: PERFECTLY SPUN
Review: Oh, Spider-Man was a perfectly spun movie. The characters were fabulous, the special effects were off the wall, and the story was action packed and thrilling! I never thought I would like a movie that came from a comic, but wow, was I surprised! The plot was awesome, and it left me wanting to see more! From start to finish, it was perfect. This movie had all the good stuff...love, wisdom, responsibility, revenge, and awesome action scenes. In case you dont know, Spider-Man is about a graduating senior that gets bitten by...you guessed it...a spider! (no way!) And instead of it becoming seriously infected, it gave him super powers, so he could save the world from all evil, and just be a hero. There is so much more to it! Anyone that likes action movies should go see it! I so have to give this movie 5 stars. spider-Man is a perfectly spun movie, for anyone to enjoy.

Summary: A Star Wars fan who is now a Spidey fan!
Review: I had never been into Spider-Man or any other comic book hero before and was a little skeptical when a friend suggested I see it. Star Wars was my big thing and I saw it first. Spider-Man almost seemed puny at first. At first. I have now seen it 3 times and it gets better every time! The special effects are so real and the story line is comfortable for all ages. Romance, action and Tobey Maguire! Who could ask for more? I now like Marvel Comics and other related items as well and it's ok for those who aren't into it either.

Summary: With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility
Review: Wow...that's all I need to say about this film, but being the huge Spidey fan that I am I will say even more. The story follows a young man named Peter Parker. He's a brilliant young man, but is picked on and considered a 'geek' at school. He strives for the attention of the girl he has loved since 'before he even liked girls' (as he said in the film), Mary Jane Watson. On a school field trip, Peter is bitten by a genetically altered spider, and the results are history. The next morning he finds that he has amazing powers. He can leap higher than a normal man, he has incredible strength, he can climb walls like a spider, he can spin webs from his wrists, he has amazing reflexes, amazing speed and balance, and a 'spider sense' that warns him of danger before it happens. At first he uses his powers to achieve his own personal gain, but when tragedy strikes he learns that with great power must come great responsibility, and he decides to use his powers to help people. But soon, his best friend's dad, Norman Osborne, preforms an experiment on himself that increases his strength but drives him to insanity. He becomes the Green Goblin and now Spider-Man's vow to help people is put to the ultimate test.

This film is truly incredible from the opening credits to the ending credits. Both kids and adults will love this film. The special effects are...amazing, I couldn't even tell what was real and what wasn't in terms of CGI. And in my final sentence I'd like to say....GO SEE THIS FILM YOU WILL LOVE EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!! I know I did.

Summary: Web-swinging for fun and frolic
Review: Spider-Man is the epitome of a summer action flick. It doesn't have wonderful acting or a wonderful script, but it is interesting enough and loud enough to make it worth the money that you pay.

Tobey Maguire is wonderful as Peter Parker. He's the perfect casting, creating a mix of shyness, naiveté and brooding after his uncle is killed. It's hard to say how he is as Spider-Man himself, since he has so few lines. But what we did see was pretty good. He only made a couple of quips, which disappointed me a bit, since that's what Spider-Man is known for. Hopefully, that was because he was still getting used to the superhero thing and will happen more in the second movie.

Kirsten Dunst is a great Mary Jane. She runs the gamut between a flighty exterior while being extremely troubled inside. It helps draw the male audience in, of course, that she's gorgeous in the role. She doesn't have as big of a role as I would have liked, however. She fulfills the love interest role admirably, but the script doesn't give her much to do besides that. Hopefully that will also change in the next movie. I did like how the movie ended between Peter and Mary Jane, though. It was very appropriate to the character.

Willem Dafoe was the perfect Green Goblin as well. He handles the scenes where he's arguing with himself exceptionally well. A lesser actor would have sunk deep into the campiness of the role, but he holds his own. The dialogue is still pretty bad, but Dafoe rises above it. He is able to play both the sinister charm of Norman Osborn as well as the total insanity of the Green Goblin.

Those are the main characters, but I have to mention J.K. Simmons as the crotchety newspaper publisher, J. Jonah Jameson. He fits the character in the comic to a T. He simply steals the few scenes that he's in. I don't know if the role was written quite right (I don't remember Jameson being that cruel to people like his wife), but Simmons hit a home run with what he was given.

The plot of the movie is your typical superhero action plot. There's nothing really new here, but I was pleased to see how close they came to the actual comic plot. There are some differences, of course, but it was very recognizable. They kept true to the spirit of the characters for the most part, with only minor changes. As a fan of the comics, I am very thankful. I think that had a lot to do with Sam Raimi's direction, which is also fabulous.

The main drawback of the film (besides the rather pedestrian plot) is the CGI effects. There are too many times where it actually looks fake. I know CGI isn't perfect, but it really throws you out of the movie when your eyes register the effect itself rather than the result of the effect. The other drawback is James Franco, the guy who plays Harry Osborne. He had no believability whatsoever, and he was very uninteresting. I'm not sure if that was Franco or the way that Harry was written, but it didn't come across well at all.

Still, this is a great movie to see if you're just in the mood for a popcorn flick. It's exciting, has lots of eye candy and it will entertain you. I was a big fan of the comics, and my wife has never read one before in her life. Both of us liked it. That should be a good indication.

Summary: Great
Review: This is the best movie ever. A really good family movie. It was not scary at all. Although at times it was a bit tense. Take kids over 10. And about Spiderman getting beat up, "IT'S A MOVIE!!! SOMETIMES THINGS LIKE THAT HAPPEN!!" It might be upseting to very young childen but then, that's what PG13 is there for.
It was great! Go see it!!!!!
