Summary: Not a "feel- good" movie!
Review: Hmmm.I didn't feel too good after watching this film.I love dark,moody films that are beautifully made but Ang Lee misses the mark with this brooding downer.I'm a long time HULK fan,from the comics to the tv series,and Lee doesn't succeed in making the green guy or Banner sympathetic at all.THE HULK deserves better.

Review: Yes!!! This is the best film released in 2003, if not the entire century so far! Ang Lee is a genius, he turns the once grim, dark portrayal of the Hulk and turns him into a bumbling clown. This lighthearted approach to the depressing subject matter really does it all; its like watching King Kong with John Candy in the lead role as the big ape. Final thoughts: King Kong is the best piece of celluloid film of all time, but avoid the remake.

Review: I hadn't seen this film; heard this film was boring. Anyway, this is how I think of it. Usually, I never knew Marvel messed up 4 movies in a row, but Hulk was a complete disaster. Marvel really entertains kids. This one was all about science. Not about The Hulk. The title looks really bad. It should be called The Science Before The Hulk.Good: The Hulk is the most powerful superhero in the world. He's really cool. Bad: The title looks really bad. If it's called The Hulk, then it's suppose to be about The Hulk. Not about Science. Usually, I really find/think the film is more boring than cool. Ugly: The Hulk is probably the worst Marvel film. I would say Hulk is more of a movie that should be better next time. Marvel should concentrate more and making good entertaining movies for kids. It shall not be something boring!

Summary: Dark and sad - NOT for the thrill seeker
Review: Being a long-time fan, I was a little nervous about how the Hulk would be treated on the big screen given the recent crop of downright stupid and thoughtless films based upon comic-book characters. As a fan of independent films in general, the only reason I went to see the Hulk, apart from being a Hulk fan, was that Ang Lee directed it. It was his unique perspective on human nature that lent the film a heightened level of sophistication, and made it a formidable study in darkness and inner torture worthy of the Hulk title. The film itself revolves around a foiled attempt to murder a four-year old Bruce Banner at his father's hand, which ultimately results in his mother's death as she tries to stop him from killing her son. It is this traumatic incident that Bruce Banner has buried deep in his subconscious, and is something that both Bruce and the Hulk struggle to understand. Near the end of the film we witness Bruce Banner/Hulk (helped along by a bomb) commit parricide in a lonely lake, and there is some sense of closure, that perhaps Bruce Banner has been finally set free. Sadly, the last scene depicts a man that, buoyed along by the regenerative properties of the nanomeds and raw, exposed wounds on his psyche that may never heal, will wander the face of the earth forever and completely alone, save for his enraged 15-ft tall, 3,500 lb alter ego. Of all the characters in the film (human and computer generated alike), Ang Lee as the childlike Hulk absolutely must be singled out for praise. The ILM computer generated Hulk emotes on a level that his human counterparts could only aspire to and his performance inspires awe, fear, and pity. In summation, this is a good film that treats the anti-superhero with the depth and sophistication that it warrants. Ang Lee's Hulk is a film directed at the viewer that wishes to explore the subtleties of human behavior, not the thrill-seeker looking for mindless action.

Summary: Extraordinarily Well Done
Review: Let me just say right now that I feel that the marketing for HULK was severely mishandled, and that I wasn't really a fan of the comics and prior to seeing the film had a very limited knowledge about the character. That said, this film completely blew me away when I saw it at the theater. I didn't have much desire to see it on my own, thinking it would be rather predictable and brainless like the--in my opinion, of course--much overrated Spider-Man. HULK is not like a traditional comic-book movie at all, being instead a character study of a very troubled man who must suffer through some very unusual and improbable circumstances. I think most of the problem people had with this movie is that it is a character study and not a straight-forward action flick, which they and I were expecting. I was pleasantly surprised by this, obviously many others weren't; it's simply a matter of personal taste. I would recommend everyone to watch this movie again with a completely open mind, forgetting all pre-conceived ideas and simply experience the movie on its own terms. I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised. (And in regards to the CGI Hulk looking fake, did you really think something that color and that tall and that wide would actually look realistic? For it's dimensions, it DOES look real.)

Review: Comics adapted to the big screen is a mixture of successes and failures. Some of the more rewarding, commercially and critically, were the first "Superman", "Conan the Barbarian, the first two Tim Burton-directed "Batman" films, "Blade", "The X-Men" and its sequel, and "Spiderman". Failures like Alec Baldwin's "The Spirit", Billy Zane's "The Phantom", Warren Beatty's "Dick Tracy", "Spawn", and the never-to-see-the-light-of-day "Fantastic Four" are prime examples that everything that looks good in comic form requires meticulous planning in order to make the transfer to the movies. Where does "The Hulk" fall? Commercially, its huge production costs coupled with its modest box office favor labeling it a failure. The critics seemed to have been kind in light of the fact that it was made by a director of note: Ang Lee. For me, the film is a mixed bag. What works are: Nick Nolte's "David Banner"
There is something sympathetic about Nick Nolte's character, an obsessed scientist that sacrifices family and career in pursuit of scientific "truths. Jennifer Connelly's "Betty Ross"
The Academy Award-winning actress embodies the best of the loyal co-worker and lover; she is quite believable. Sam Elliott's "General Ross"
His character very much parallels Nolte's and Elliott is effective as the military man torn between duty and love for his daughter. Danny Elfman's score
This is probably the composer's most evocative score, bombastic when necessary and subtle at the appropriate time. The "quiet" moments with "THE HULK"
When the creature is not wrecking on-screen havoc, the CGI-generated "Hulk" works. Just check out his eyes when he lovingly gazes at "Betty. Finally, Eric Bana as "Dr. Bruce Banner"
Bana adds the right blend of scientific wonder, pathos, and rage as the man with such a split in his psyche! What doesn't work? The destruction and "fight" scenes are about as believable as a Road Runner cartoon. The movie could have been about thirty minutes SHORTER. The opening credits are too similar to earlier comic pics; "Spiderman" and "Dark Man" come to mind. Josh Lucas's "villain"
Why must there always be the truly detestable money-grabbing bureaucrat? While the movie won't go down as a "great" film, it's still passable entertainment, deserving of three AND a half stars. Just can't round it off to FOUR, though.
