Rating: Summary: The Daywalker is Dead On Review: Based on the Marvel Comic Book created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, the film adaptation, wisely sticks to its source material. Eric Brooks/Blade (Wesley Snipes) is a half human-half immortal (vampire) who battles the forces of the undead. He is aided by "Whisler", (Kris Kristofferson) his mentor and father-like figure When the immortal dark lord, known as Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff), makes plans to destroy the human race, Blade must act. At the same time, he must guide an emerging female immortal, Dr. Karen Jensen ( N'Bushe Wright). She may be the only one who can create a serum that may defeat vampire and for all, and help Eric, at the same time. Directed by Stephen Norrington, BLADE, has some fantastic martial arts/battle scenes. Like the comic, the film is more than a "Batman" wannabe, and Snipes is perfect in the title role. The character is multi-demnsional with a compicated past that translates very well to the big screen. Dorff makes a pretty good villian here, and after a while, Kristofferson grew on me as well. The DVD is loaded with extras. Some are better than others. The best of those are the 4 featurettes that offer a well rounded look at the movie. I was somewhat disappointed with the 1st commentary track. It is just a mess, jumping from one person to the next and all were most likely recorded separately. There's also a solid feature called "pencil to post" that has sketches from early in the production versus their final film counterparts. If you want to see a good action film, that also puts yet another spin on the vampire myths, then Blade is for you. Recommended.
Rating: Summary: Looooong Review: I think Wesley Snipes is wasted in the movie and you can almost predict how it's gonna end. Although, some of the special effects were cool!
Rating: Summary: Awesome action flick! Review: I have to mention upfront that I have not seen this movie on DVD yet. I own a VHS copy, so I cannot attest to all the DVD extras, although I'm sure they are a great addition. I think most of the reviews of this movie are right-on. The night-club scene at the beginning of the film had me hooked. The music is great, and the fight scenes are for the most part well-choreographed. There have been a few reviewers who have gone on and on about vampires and how this film doesn't get them right. Whatever. Blade is a Marvel comic book character from the 70's (a series that ended recently, but has been begun again as a result of the popularity of the two Blade films). Snipes plays Blade, a daywalker who has all strengths of vampires but none of the weaknesses, save one--he must control his thirst for blood. He gained his powers as a result of his mother being bitten by a vampire while she was going into labor. His life has been spent dedicated to eradicating vampires and searching for the one who "killed" his mother. For all those who complain about how daywalkers can't exist, and how silver doesn't affect vampires, how vampirism is not the result of a virus, etc., I just have to say this--get real. This is not a documentary on the myth of vampires. We all know that vampires don't exist (except for those freaky people who like to drink blood), and since this is a horror/action flick based on a comic book, vampires can do whatever the writer and director want them to. And I think that the movie does a great job of explaining vampirism in medical terms (of course not real, but it works for the movie). For those who like action movies, don't mind gore, and like a pounding sound track to set the mood, then this is a great movie to own. Snipes is really ripped, and his martial arts moves are top-notch. I have watched my VHS copy so many times that the wear is starting to show. Guess it's time to buy the DVD copy!
Rating: Summary: "Smells like a vampire wiped his [rear end] with it" Review: Wesley Snipes plays a half human/half vampire battling vampires in New York City. Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorff) hates to see the daywalker, and wants to make every human into a vampire through an old legend among vampires. This movie is based upon the comic book of the same name. A great action flick!
Rating: Summary: quite good Review: i liked this film more than i thought i would. it was better than Interview with a Vampire because at least here they dont say that "God doesnt exist." Sorry Antonio Banderas, but that was the wrong thing to say!
Rating: Summary: Awesome movie. Review: First off I just want to say that this movie is very gory, so if you don't like that stuff, this movie is not for you. Of course it is gory since it is dealing with vampires, so if you don't like that either, this movie is not for you. I seen a part of this movie when someone brought it in for our class. It was the first 30 minutes, but I was still hooked. I had been wanting to see it for quite awhile though, so I was glad to see that part of it. This is a great movie and even though I never read the comic book, I still liked the movie. If you read the comic book, then you will probably like it. This is a must-see and should be owned by everyone.
Rating: Summary: A great hyper-kinetic vamp film. Review: Wesley Snipes plays his finest role yet-Neo-esque half vampire/half man Blade. Blade is a daywalker who fights the vampires and their human allies in the darkness along with his friend Whistler (Kris Kristofferson). Stephen Dorff is fantastic as Deacon Frost a evil vampire with designs on looing a vampire virus upon man kind. Blade rescues a bitten woman (N'Bushe Wright) and together they wage war against Frost. Udo Kier gives a freaky performance as Dragonetti for the short time he is in the film. Great battles the effects sometimes get cheesy, but this is a low budget masterpiece. Directed with gusto and fervor by Stephen Norrington. Rated (R) for Strong Language/Violence/Gore, and some drug content.
Rating: Summary: Do NOT watch this!! Review: What can I say? this movie is one of the most horrible I have ever watched, I wish I could have given it -5 stars, and its not even worth it to say why I hate it.
Rating: Summary: Feel the wrath of BLADE!!!! Review: This is the pivotal Wesley Snipes movie to own. First off he's biggest he's ever been muscle wise in this movie, he is ridiculously nasty in every fight scene in the movie and believe me there are a whole lot, plus on top of it Wesley choreographed all of the fights in the movie which not many people know. Stephen Dorff also gives a great performance as Deacon Frost which one him an MTV award for best villain. The only problem if any is that this movie is way more action than horror which may be somewhat disappointing for those expecting a scary movie. However, the action is so unbelievable it just makes this movie worth owning.
