Rating: Summary: Don't be fooled by the extras... Review: Well, this one didn't quite work out, did it? This modern spin on vampires has a few nice touches (like the beginning 'blood rave') but never engages the viewer. Some of the story is rather shoddy, and Stephen Dorff as a bad guy? Please...However, if you're looking for mindless entertainment, you won't go wrong with this, with some well choreographed fights and the requisite amount of blood. If you're tempted by all the extras on this New Line disc though, think again. They look good, but are VERY dull - only one of the four rather lenghthy featurettes is of any interest, containing an alternate ending and a deleted scene, and the isolated score is something no-one ever listens to anyway, leaving a very good trailer which captures the type of film that Blade is nicely (and sounds great when really loud) and a vaguely interesting commentary, with some nice insights from Snipes. Yes, the sound is good and it's nicely mastered, but there's nothing special here. Even the animated menus, whilst at first impressive, begin to annoy after a while. One for fans of gory action films only (and oh look, here comes the sequel...)
Rating: Summary: Finally, a GOOD Marvel Comics Movie Review: Thank God that someone finally translated a Marvel Comic to the silver screen successfully. After The Punisher (where the hell was his chest emblem?)and Captain America (which I don't even have any words for), Blade is a breath of fresh air. Yeah, okay, the acting wasn't oscar material and the plot was a bit confusing at times (What happened to the Vampire God?), but this movie was still awesome. Wesley Snipes was perfect as Blade and he finally got a chance to really show off his martial arts skills. Definitely worth the buy. And by the way, I see alot of people comparing this with "The Lost Boys". Wake up, people. That's like comparing "Enter the Dragon" to "Mortal Kombat". They are two totally different movie styles. Take Blade for what it is.
Rating: Summary: Well, I bought it. Review: Well to tell you the truth I didn't think this movie would have as much gore in it as I thought it did but I was surprised of how graphic the film really was.I think you should rent it before you buy it though. Something bad about this film that goes for many other horror films like Dawn Of The Dead is the story does not explain much. The effect I wouldn't say are good because their just vampires, nothing special but some teeth and they don't even fly. Still I like the plot.
Rating: Summary: Where was the writing? Review: I thought this movie had great action, great special effects, and terrible writing. Everything that happens in the movie is a cheesy, overdone cliche - but if you don't care about well-written movies, it's an entertaining action flick. I personally thought it was terrible, but some people love this kind of movie.
Rating: Summary: Uhhhhh.... whaaaaaaat? Review: I really hope the people who wrote the reviews here aren't a random sampling of the population. The bad guys had the "cowboys and indians disease" in that they couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with a machine gun, the acting was mostly bad, there were ridiculous amounts of blood, the plot was somewhat inconsistent, and I fail to see how a god could be vulnerable to chemical reactions. I thought the beginning scene was somewhat clever, but from there the entire movie went downhill.Fortunately, if you turn your brain off the movie can be entertaining.
Rating: Summary: This movie was awesome! Review: I think that this is one of the coolest movies that I have ever seen. The special effects and the actors and the adrenaline pumping music rocked! Wesley Snipes played a very good vampire slayer and Stephen Dorff played a very good vampire. All in all, this movie rocked!
Rating: Summary: Top film only just pipped by The Matrix Review: This film, like The Matrix, has it all - top effects, great acting and above all an interesting and fresh slant on a familiar subject - don't miss this one !
Rating: Summary: This is the most stupid movie I have ever seen. Review: This is the most stupid movie I have ever seen. Junk.Garbage.Lost money and time....
Rating: Summary: M... pretty good ... but Review: I know : a vampire movie, right ? But still, its an action movie and not a horror one ... IT has action and all ... but there are some really bloody scenes ! Seriously , no under 18 should watch this ... for example the scene when Frost was biting the hell out of that stupid cop... blood everywhere, and Eeesh ... Bottom line : action is action ... horror is horror ... You want an action movie : you should focus on action !
Rating: Summary: Almost as good as the Matrix Review: Excellent DVD conversion that is packed with extras. Tremendous movie which is ideal to own as a dvd as it is the type of movie you can watch again and again. To simplify and put this dvd into context Blade would in my opinion be a close contender to the Matrix for best dvd to date!
