Summary: Ben who?
Review: There are several reasons why this movie is such fun. Unfortunately, none of them is named Affleck. Everytime I hear him listed as an Academy Award winner, I wish they had to say that it wasn't for his acting abilities.

Jennifer Garner as Electra is perfect. Colin Farrell as Bullseye is right on target (sorry, couldn't resist). The effects work is first rate.

This is the epitome of a popcorn movie. Just sit back, relax and enjoy it for what it is. As a translation of a comic to screen, it stands up fairly well. Unfortunately, the only thing that didn't translate from that two-dimensional world was Ben Affleck. The rest of the movie is exceptional.

Summary: Good movie, good DVD
Review: The critical and public reaction to Daredevil has been predictable: this is yet another case of a movie that primarily has been panned by people who don't care for its genre, and praised by people who do.

I found the movie itself to be very watchable. Other than the "park battle sequence" between Elektra and Murdock, which was just too over-the-top, the film is old-school super-heroics presented with such confidence and visual flair that anyone who enjoys comic-book superheroes should get a kick out of it. Affleck's performance as Matt Murdock is especially good (easily as believable as Toby Maquire's much-ballyhooed turn as Peter Parker in Spider-Man). As recent superhero movies go (IMHO), this is one of the best, much more entertaining than Hulk, just as engaging as Spider-Man, albeit not quite up to the standards of the two X-Men films.

The extras are rather more of a mixed bag. I cared little for the features dealing with the movie, but the longish "Men Without Fear" feature, a series of interviews with the writers and artists of the Daredevil comic book, is wonderful. Stan Lee is as likable as ever, and I found Frank Miller surprisingly chatty and funny.

Summary: "I hope justice is served today before justice finds you"
Review: The above words were spoken by Ben Affleck in this, one of his newest releases-Daredevil.
Daredevil is yet another superhero film that is sure to win the approval of it's viewers. Unlike most superhero films, this movie is about a boy who learns how to deal with the world around him after tragicly losing his sight due to an explosion of dangerous chemicals. Why is it any different than other superhero films? Because he didn't feel sorry for himself, but decided to help those who were in need.

As for this version(widescreen edition) I would reccomend it because as you know, widescreen allows you to see more of the movie than fullscreen does and this is a movie you definatly want to see all you can.

Summary: A BOMB, plain and simple...
Review: The first two (Tim Burton-directed) 'Batman' movies rock. 'Spider-Man' was hugely entertaining. Even Chris Reeve and Margot Kidder had their moments in 'Superman.'
This film, however, is a total mess and unbelievably boring. In a nutshell: Awful, painfully dark cinematography, absolutely atrocious acting by the two leads, and a startlingly inept "screenplay."
It's just too depressing. Hollywood: stop already, you're killing me.
Avoid, avoid, AVOID--at any cost.

Summary: Don't waste your money
Review: Please don't watch this movie! Most films have good parts, but this film does NOT. I could see this movie doing ok if it were a student film, but this was large scale. This movie fits right in with the cheesiness of The Hulk.

Summary: bad contrived script
Review: This movie is so contrived that I cannot recommend it. Any of the Batman movies can beat this one. The Shadow was more interesting. It just doesn't work as a movie. It would be a pity to see them make a sequel to this. It's as if someone tried to build a story around having Afleck as a superhero. Bad script.

Review: **SPOILERS**

I'm getting tired of these superheroes who all fit the same mold: Parent/Legal Guardian gets killed by thugs, so kid trains himself to be a crime fighter, eventually crosses paths with the guy that controlled the parents' killers or did the killing himself, and then.....what. Some get revenge, some like Daredevil wimp out.
From the start of this somewhat dark movie, it appeared that Daredevil was going to be a real bad-a**, and treat these thugs how they should be treated. Unfortunately, he wimps out.
But that's just a personal gripe and isn't part of the real gripe I have with this film: it's just lame. Come on, Daredevil is basically a blind Spider-man with no web and a better job. Ostensibly his only super-abilities are his remaining heightened senses and his "radar" (spider-sense? almost) which appears to be only triggered by sound, but he is represented in a few scenes as having this unearthly ability to jump incredibly far with the exact same muscles that you and I have. Okay, we'll assume he works out regularly to hone his strength. STILL, even if he had Schwarzenegger muscles he couldn't do some of the stuff he is capable of in this film.
And his radar comes off as very unreliable, working at its best only in the rain. So what good can he really be? If his enemies go into a library he'd be in deep s***.
I pretty much knew how ludicrous this would get early on during the second fight scene with the school bullies when he was young and freshly blind. Watching him pull off some seriously advanced gymnastics by doing that reverse jump-somersault thing.....I really don't think so. But the best acting in the film was done by that kid when he wakes up in the hospital and freaks out from all of the noise. That was painful to watch.
The first fight between DD and Elektra was poorly choreographed, and you could tell they were hooked up to wires due to their almost cautious movements. Did it really look like Ben was going to get hit by the see-saw when she jumped on the other end of it? No! They really didn't appear to be working up a sweat with all of that fake jumping.
But of course, the ending was the worst possible. If someone killed my Dad, I wouldn't wait for the justice system to handle it. What a joke.
This film is pretty much a Spider-man clone (kissing in the rain? COME ON!), and is sadly a revelation for me as a one-time comic book fan: I really see now how similar some of the Marvel characters really are (and DC as well, for that matter). Who I once thought was so great is just a mirror image of another character, but with a different mask on.

Summary: Solid DVD
Review: Daredevil, as a movie, is a solid comic book movie. I have no idea how it relates to the comic books, but this movie is solid. Ben Affleck give a better-than-expected performance as Murdock/Daredevil, and Jennifer Garner does a solid job as well. There are a few plot holes, but the movie is worthwhile.

On the technical aspect, DVD's don't get much better than this. The picture quality is perfect and the Dolby Digital 5.1 track is outstanding. Definitely a good one to show off. There are also plenty of extras on the DVD to watch. Pick up this DVD if you are a fan of superhero movies.

Summary: A movie watching maybe once, but not more
Review: I found this movie to be dark and violent. I don't know if it was the acting or the writing, but it just didn't click with me. The martial arts were impressive, but I've seen more enjoyable movies with moves just as good.

The one thing I did like was the use of rain and water to accent the emotions of the two main characters.

Summary: Overhyped
Review: Really not even remotely as good as everybody makes it sound. The story is not deep at all, no substacne to it and really just another comicbook story. Nothing to see hear, nothing worth raving about, not worth buying, but not a complete waste of time either.
