Review: Spiderman is a movie you have to see twice! It has really good graphics when spiderman is swing from buliding to bulding. It also has a great plot. it is really interesting how peter parker (Spiderman) get bittin by a spider and gets all the techniqus as a spider. Everything in this movie is great 10x better then the cartoons. Get this movie you won't regret it.

Review: Wow! This movie is amazing! The special effects will blow your mind! Spider-Man blends utterly thrilling action with some light comedy, drama, and even a bit of romance! It's the ultimate movie-lover's movie. I really enjoyed it a lot, and what made it even more amazing was having Kirsten Dunst play the role of Mary-Jane, the object of Peter Parker's affection. A beautiful face, and excellent talent. Tobey Maguire is also a great young actor, full of spunk and after this movie, I'm sure he's going to be a "breakthrough" actor, totally mainstream. I can't wait for the next few installments in the Spider-Man series with Tobey and Kirsten. This is a great movie, take the family and some friends along and enjoy!

Summary: One movie that's straight from the comic book!
Review: I've seen this movie twice now and love it. The special effects are terrific and the goblin is humerous and creepy. This film has several clever touches and many humerous moments in it, with a ton of romance to it too. There was only one flaw in this movie and that was that Peter Parker is more of an interesting character than Spider-Man. There's more detail to him and Spider-Man just seems to be on for the ride of it all. The real character is Peter Parker, and even though he's Spider-Man there's only Peter Parker under a mask. But the film is very well done and I highly recommend that you watch it.

Summary: Great fun, but still too much CGI...
Review: Some of my friends which are comic book artists say this is the best comic-book adaptation ever, or even a masterpiece. I wouldn't go that far. Although it's better than all Superman movies and recent Batman disasters, it still is what it is: CGI mayhem with some character development (wow!) and few nice scenes for kids. It's too lightweight even for X-men (which I liked very much), not to compare it to darkness of Tim Burton's Batman and Batman Returns. The script is solid, and waiting for the sequel will be like waiting for the next NBA basketball season - you know it's coming, but it all depends if you like the basketball. For me, CGI Spidey flying without control was a plus, CGI spidey fighting was a minus. If it was a bit more character driven (like X-Men) and a little darker, it would be fantastic. This is compromise for the kids (an understandable one) so it is pretty darn good. So, Green Goblin is dead. Bring the Son of Green Goblin plus antoher great villain and you'll be on our way for Spidey No.3! Go, web, go!

Spider-Man is the greatest comic book movie ever made!
I'm going as far to say that it is as good as Superman 1&2 and Batman!!! (And that's some praise...)
I'm absolutely amazed by how well this movie has been made - full congratulations to everybody involved -
I'm truly "web"-smacked!!
The entire cast was perfect, the effects were awesome and the whole thing was just a perfect tribute to the
classic comic-book character... I just can't wait for the sequel!!
But before that, I'm hoping to see this movie a few more times at the cinema!...

Summary: Wallopin' Websnappers
Review: The movie was excellent, great production and casting. The directors really went out for this one, considering that Spidey isn't really known to today's kids. My twelve year-old was really captivated, and even cringed during the fight scenes...a new webhead indeed ! This movie mostly served to rekindle my desire for the good 'ol 1960's classics, and to ultimately have them on DVD in the highest of quality. I don't care what it takes, this needs to happen. I don't even care if audio tracks are left in mono (of course they could do stereo), I just want a Spider Man 1960's collection in ONE box !!!

Review: Spiderman is probably one of the greatest movies I have seen in a long time. It is packed with action and has a great lesson. IT is probably not a movie to show to younger kids but is great for anyone ready to sit back relax and enjoy a great movie.

Summary: The return of the superhero
Review: As with Batman, Superman, and the X-Men, this is the first movie (probably) of a comic book hero. I remember hearing rumors as far back as the 80s of a movie version. Although it was a long wait, this was worth it. This is very well done. Like the X-Men movie, this movie is not word-for-word from the comic book. The writers and director of this film have merged some characters and tweaked some of Peter Parker's powers to ease the transition to the big screen. For instance, Spiderman's web-shooters are actually part of him rather than a device he creates. I believe this is for a more general audience rather than just the comic fans. As a comic book fan, I do not mind the changes made. This is an exciting movie, and you can't help but identify with Peter Parker. I recommend seeing this movie.

Summary: Spider Man: Summer Action Flick or Fall Oscar Film?
Review: Spider Man is a 5 star flick directed by Sam Raimi based on the first Spider Man comic story from Marvel. In the movie, Peter Parker,(Toby Maguire, Pleasantville, The Cider House Rules)the spectacle-wearing newspaper geek at his local Queens high school who lives with his Uncle Ben and Aunt May, takes a field trip with his class and best friend, Harry Osborn,(James Franco) the son of Mr. Osborn(Willem Dafoe)the owner of Oscorp, to the museum. While there, he is bitten by a genetically advanced super spider. When he wakes up, he discovers he doesn't need the use of his goofy glasses and his body looks like its about to break out of his skin. Mr. Osborne, meanwhile, discovers his own powers when he takes a company performance enhancer and his strength increases almost 800%. Unfortunatly, it also turns him into an occasional psycotic killer named the Green Goblin. Not a great trade, huh? Getting back to the good guy, Peter later discovers other incredible abilities, like being able to jump across buildings and the famous web shooting trick. When he decides to use his powers to buy a car to impress his crush(Kirsten Dunst, Bring it On)his plan backfires and leads him to discover the true meaning of a quote from his uncle, "With great power, comes great responsibility." This movie is everything I impatiently waited for 3 months to see. The casting is superb, with Dafoe doing an especially good job in a scene where he has a conversation with his two personalities. Toby Maguire put aside all doubts in my mind about Raimi's choice for casting him as Peter Parker/Spider Man. Kirsten Dunst also does a great job, showing the audience a depth which before now has not been shown in her characters. The ending is a nice twist, leaving me hungry for the sequel which will surely come. The special effects were good enough to be liked, but may have been overused. Same deal with the fighting. But overall, Spider Man should get an Oscar nod or two, especially for Dafoe. When the sequel comes, you can be sure I'll be in line to see it.

Summary: Spidey spins a stunning web!
Review: "Spiderman" (2002) This year's summer blockbusters are actually looking pretty ship-shape! Last year we had the disappointments of such films as Rush Hour 2, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and so on and so forth, but to make up for those, in 2002 we've got Spiderman, Star Wars: Episode II and heaps of other intriguing films being released. Not only do I think this will be one of the best summer blockbusters of this year, I think it could turn out to be one of the most entertaining movies of 2002. I did expect quite a lot from this movie, but it surpassed my expectations beyond my wildest dreams. This movie is such a hard one in which to find fault! I was going to give it a slightly lower grade but then I just couldn't think of any reason not to give it the one I gave it (scroll down). Sure, the movie is cheesy in some places, but duh; it's a comic book adaptation! Of course there's going to be a bit of cheese n' corn. I must be the only person who liked the Green Goblin as a villain. To me he was perfectly menacing and his timing was right-on. I thought the costume would look horrible but it was actually OK. This movie keeps you in suspense (especially during the fair sequence) and surprised me with its genuine wit and heart. There is also one particular little part that made me completely jump out of my seat (watch out for when Willem Dafoe wakes up after being gassed!). The movie brings across some very important messages that not only superheroes should learn. I also liked it the way the movie built up Peter Parker becoming Spiderman because it put a bit of bulk on his character. The acting in Spiderman was terrific. In my opinion, all the actors were perfectly cast. Tobey Maguire is not the sort of guy you'd expect to play a superhero but he pulls it off stunningly, making a great hero and also turning Peter Parker into a likeable and memorable teen. Willem Dafoe reminded me a lot of Jack Nicholson with his Green Goblin part. He has a great, evil laugh and his character (when he's not the Goblin) is sort of like a schizophrenic. The scenes where Dafoe is "talking to himself" are terrific and very well acted. I thought they would make me laugh but they were actually pretty creepy. Kirsten Dunst is great as Mary Jane, providing her with a heart and personality. Dunst has exactly the right look for the movie, and has some fantastic chemistry with Maguire. I also adored Rosemary Harris in her role as Peter Parker's auntie. The special effects in this movie are terrific. I can't really pick out any key scenes where they were brilliant because I just completely forgot I was watching special effects. They are very realistic. The sound techniques are used effectively, especially in the last 20 minutes or so. One thing I would've liked is for Spiderman to maybe use some more gadgets? We pretty much got the sticky web thing and that was it. Maybe he just has that, I don't know, I've never read the comics (although I sort of want to after seeing this terrific movie). I look forward to seeing how Spidey's super-powers are improved in the next movie. Spiderman is a movie I think everyone will enjoy. It has a big heart and it is always entertaining to watch. It has terrific morals and messages and is able to mix genuine wit and comedy into an action-packed and intriguing storyline. This movie was a lot of fun and I think it'll be one of the biggest grossing movies of 2002, if not, the biggest! Bring it on, Spiderman 2! MY GRADE: A
