Summary: best movie ever
Review: I'm not really sure why I'm even writing this review, because everyone all ready knows that The Matrix is one of the best movies to ever come out, but just figured I'd give my 2 cents anyway. This movie has so much action that it's incredible. It also has some of the best special effects I've seen in a very long time, and the storyline is amazing. Who ever wrote the story for the movie, is a genius and I hope is coming back for the other 2 movies. Before the sequels come out, make sure you get the one that started it all.

Summary: Deserving of the Hype
Review: The 'Matrix' combines elements of Alice in Wonderland, Japanese anime, Kung Fu flicks, post-apocalyptic sci-fi (most notably 'the Terminator', but also elements of 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and even 'Soylent Green')and theology (Buddhist/Hindu concept that life is 'maya' or illusion; plus elements of Christianity -a retelling of sorts of the crucifixion with Morpheus as John the Baptist, his crew are the 'disciples' plus even a 'Mary' and a 'Judas'- Neo is killed and then 'resurrected').

"The Matrix" copies the formula and success of 'Star Wars without repeating it and creates a stunning, classic action/sci-fi movie with a rare combination of equal style and substance. The DVD includes various commentaries, a "Making of...', and a cool feature which allows you to sidebar into clips of how certain special effects were created - all of which you will gredily consume and still leave you salivating for the sequal.
This intense, nearly flawless film is highly recommended!

Summary: The Matrix Has You!!!
Review: I have read a lot of reviews about this film when people say that this movie is pure rubbish. I am writing this to deny that.
I was a little skeptical about The Matrix before I saw it. I thought it was going to be extremely freaky or completely stupid. I was wrong on both counts.
This movie is not stupid or overly freaky. It is a little weird in the starting but don't fastforward it because you will miss important factors of the movie. The ending is probably my favorite part of the movie. From the lobby scene on, I could watch it over and over again. Very thrilling and actiony.
The story about the Matrix may not be true, but it makes one great movie!
Thomas 'Neo' Anderson(Keanu Reeves) is a computer hacker. He keeps hearing about 'the Matrix' and like anyone of us would, wants to know what it is. Then he is invited, by Morpheus, a man that Neo has been looking for for a long time, to come and find out about the Matrix. Curious, Neo accepts. What he doesn't know is, that once he finds out, his world will be turned upside down. Just wait till you find out! Talk about a mind-bender!
Contrary to what you may hear, The Matrix isn't really all that hard to follow. At least it wasn't for me. Just make sure you listen hard, so you don't miss anything. This is a good movie to be watched on a quiet night when you have nothing to do. And, yes, it does get easier to understand the more that you watch it.
With a great cast like Laurence Fishburne(Morpheus), Carrie-Anne Moss(Trinity) and of course Keanu Reeves(Neo), there is no end to the excitement and amazement. Mind-blowing special effects and fight scenes that keep you glued to the screen. Whoa! The Matrix is a movie that changed movie making and took it to a new level.
Even if action or sci-fi is not your 'thing', please just see it anyway. It is a great film and you can't afford not to see it! But be warned- it does have its share of language and, like I said, is a little freaky. But all in all I give it a 10 out of 10! It has a great plot, actors, and music that really gets you into the movie!
Like Morpheus said,"Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for youreself." YOU will have to see it for YOUrself!
"What is the Matrix?" Like Neo, you may ask. Well... watch this movie and you will find out!

Summary: The Matrix
Review: Mind - wrap stunts. Techno - slammin' visuals. Mega - kick action. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne lead the fight to free humankind in The Matrix, the see - and - see again cyberthriller written and directed by the Wachowski brothers. The story sears, the special effects stake out new moviemaking territory - the movie flat - out rocks.

Summary: very cool, i am never bored of it.
Review: A must see movie. Incredible is how I describe this move, the special effects are definitely dazzling and totally eye-candy. I have watched it several times and have never grown bored of it. The actors choice is very good, and the movie is awe-inspiring and a brilliant piece of work.

Summary: Combination of lowbrow action with highbrow Sci fi
Review: This film is a combination of Philip K Dick's "Valis" and a John Woo action film. Matrix works well on both the lowbrow and highbrow levels.

At the "lowbrow" level, Matrix offers some of the most beautiful and rewatchable screen violence ever. The cyberpunkish style works very well. The use of mythical archetypes works better than any other film of recent memory: Campbellian myth makes this an extraordinary experience.
Oh yeah, and the music is really great. Especially the last part, when Keanu ascends into heaven. The music there, by Rage Against the Machine, is an anthem to modern youth, filled with the exhiliration of spiritual rebirth, and a really cool riff!

At the highbrow level, the Wachowski brothers say that they have borrowed from literary science fiction masters such as Philip K Dick and the early Cyberpunks. The literary quality of the script is remarkable, especially for an action film. These are ideas that have rarely been seen off the printed page. Philip K Dick's quasi-Gnostic view of the universe makes a joyous appearance here (with Morpheus as Valis, and the Matrix itself as the Black Iron Prison); and the religious and literary references are a joy to come back to.

Some parts of this film do not work, however. I found the style of the Nebuchadnezzar to be silly and Marvelcomicbookish. The Agents are suypposed to be menacing, but I just found myself laughing. Heh heh.

But nevertheless, the few flaws don't detract at all from the remarkable experience that is The Matrix. One of the most intelligent and coolest sci fi films ever.

Summary: Dream World, Real Thrills
Review: Unfortunately, no one can be told how good this movie is, one must see it for themselves. Keanu Reeves is Tom Anderson, a programmer by day, and a hacker by night. He joins a group of other hackers who tell him a frightening fact: we are living in a dream world generated by a computer called the Matrix. This band of rebels have broken out of the dream and are trying to destroy the Matrix.
I was blown away by this film! The effects are astounding, especially bullet-time, and the ripple on the building. This movie is a little disturbing, but that doesn't hamper it's greatness. This is the first in a trilogy, and I plan to see them all.

Summary: A collector's item, a reference Sci-Fi masterpiece
Review: I first saw the film with my family and was dazzled by the special effects and the unsual plot. I admit I did not understand it much but made a mental note to see it again.

When I bought my home theatre, The Matrix was one of the first DVDs to buy. I have watched it 10+ times and will watch it again and again.

The story is fascinating and makes you think.. Some of the technology shown or implied in the film is already there or under research. The rest remind one of Leonardo Da Vinci's drawings of flying machines.. The danger of humans being controlled by technology of any kind is not that imaginary..

The Matrix is an artificial "real world" created to entrap humans and let them live their "lives" in a virtual reality while "real reality" is in a dark parallel world where time and space are mostly irrelevant as there is technology to allow crossing the borders.

The visual and sound effects are simply stunning. If you jump to section 29 of the DVD you will see and hear a battle taking place all around you - while bullets hit walls in front of you, empty shells fall on the floor behind you, guns fire from every corner of your room and you wonder what may jump out from behind your armchair or coffee table.. Just fascinating...

Choose the Follow The White Rabbit version of the film to see how the special effects were created and how "bullet time" was invented and put to the best use I have ever seen.

I don't think I will get tired of watching The Matrix. I hope a sequel will come out soon and I will buy it immediately.

The Matrix is the closest thing to Virtual Reality you can watch on your TV screen. I hope that other film directors will take lessons from it and we will see more IE (Immersion Entertainment) films soon.
