Summary: Great movie, but Keanu....
Review: The Matrix is good, granted. The movie is amazing. Weaving and Fishburn are brilliant. Keanu is, well, Keanu. The man cannot act! But, alas, the movie pulls through anyway. so0, whatever. Ting-a-ling.

Summary: For the doubters...
Review: Sure, the Matrix borrows heavily from John Woo, TRON, Blade Runner, Total Recall, etc. Is that such a bad thing? Total Recall borrows from a million movies before it, and Hong-Kong-style martial arts flicks existed way before John Woo. Stylistically, there is very little that does not borrow from something before it. The Matrix is a biblical allegory--Mankind is enslaved in sins of its own creation (robots) Morpheus (John the Baptist) has "saved" a very few people, and those before him (Abraham, Moses) saved him. His newest "awakenee," Neo (an anagram with "One") is the bewildered, Christ-like figure who is killed to purge man's sin, then arises again. Trinity (a holy reference in itself) is part Virgin Mary, part Mary Magdalene (the one who led Neo to be "born"; the one with whom Neo falls in love), with Cipher playing the all important Judas. Sure, you may say the plot has been done before. But rarely has it been done as such an expressive allegory. Only spots of hackneyed dialogue and some terrible acting by Carrie-Anne Moss (Reeves's perennial-Ted character was perfect here) keep it from a 5.

Summary: WOW! What a film-it is in a class by itself!
Review: I just watched The Matrix on video. I am a manager at a video store and one of the perks is seeing the films early. I was totally blown away by this film. The only regret I have is if I could of watched it on the big screen. There are certain movies that you just have to see on the big screen and this is for sure one of them. It is a film that right after I watched it, I was so amazed that I wanted to watch it again. The story line, acting and special effects were out of this world! A must see for any movie buff!

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE EVER!
Review: I loved the movie, like many others, I saw it 5 times in the theatre-and I'm married! I told my wife not no get it for me for Christmas, because I'm buying it the day it's offered!

Summary: One of the worst films in recent memory
Review: From the gratuitous special effects to the unconvincing plot to Keanu's typically poor acting, this was one of the worst films I've seen in a long time. The dialogue was corny ("coppertop", "we're not in Kansas anymore", "no one can be told what the matrix is"). The science behind the film was offensively fake. This film takes the interesting but unoriginal concept of alternate realities and does an awful job of executing it. The holes in the plot are innumerable, but here's a start: humans consume, not produce, energy; real-world people can hack into the matrix to create guns, but not a door or a bomb; a computer fights simulated enemies by creating simulated agents instead of just "deleting" the enemies -- it's all a simulation, remember. And in the end, self-confidence and love conquer all. Whatever.

The movie takes cool things -- techo music, a couple of good actors, science fiction, and decent special effects -- and makes them suck somehow. And we all get to look forward to two sequels...

Summary: Episode what..who..where??? Forget that movie...See Matrix!!
Review: I give this flick the ultimate stamp of approval by saying it does more for movies than any other that was released in the 90's..A must see!!! Any movie that can make Keeanu Reeves look that good at martial arts has got to be good..

Don't you dare miss this movie....

Summary: Blew me out of my seat
Review: I was never a big Keanu Reeves fan, and hacker movies always seem to be somewhat on the lame side, but I was dragged to the movies by some friends, and I can't think of a single reason to regret it. It was great brain candy: awesome visual effects and cinematography, an intriguing plot and all the action I never thought I'd see. I saw it again that same day.

Summary: Matrix is an instant favorite - easily makes my top ten
Review: This is an invigorating movie. It is so satifying on so many levels. While being one of the best action movies, it is addresses the plight of every human being with a story that mirrors Biblical teachings. An eye openning tour de force!

Summary: Awesome Special effects!!
Review: This was an awesome movie for sci-fi fans and for movie fans. The special effects were incredible. The story is somewhat confusing at first but hold on to the end and you'll really appreciate it. I have seen it 5 times already in the theater and I can't wait until it released for home use. I would highly recommend buying the widescreen version so that you don't miss any of the special effects!!!

Summary: This is the best movie I have EVER seen!
Review: Before I seen this movie, I was complaining about how lousy the hollywood movie seen was doing, since I found out that I would rather watch older movies than the movies currently in theatres. But then The Matrix came out and totally restored my faith in new movies!
