Summary: The way action/sci-fi should be
Review: If you like action films at all, the scenes in this film will leave you in total bliss. But what makes it truly special is the intelligence and style that is used throughout the movie. I'm sure some Van Damne and Rambo films have awesome special effects and action, but everything else about them is so stupid is just isn't worth it. Not so here. I'd say more but the 500 other reviews already posted that give 5 stars do a pretty good job of that.One more thing - FOR THOSE OF YOU who have PC DVD-ROM players and are HAVING TROUBLE playing the DVD, SEARCH the net for and DOWNLOAD a software decoder called CINEMASTER. I had lots of problems too with my player - until I started using Cinemaster. I haven't had a single problem since. And what's best - its free :)

Summary: Great effects, great story, just tremendous!
Review: Oh what a movie, say what you want Reeves did great as Neo and you're not likely to find a deeper story in the near future. The dvd itself was great, lots of features, the fighting seens are somthing that Bruce Lee would've been proud of and the effecs are great. Very clear on pc and tv alike. Great dvd to have in your collection. Really deserves 5 stars .(Could do with 6)

Review: This movie was just so awesome I had to buy it. If your in to Science-Fiction, Action movies, then this should be number 1 on your list of movies to buy. You'll be so blown away by this movie you'll want to watch it over and over. I can't wait until the next two movies, of the trilogy, come out on DVD. This is a must BUY!!

Summary: reminder of the days when action movies had a point
Review: One part gunfight, one part martial arts and one part science fiction, the Matrix is harkens to the 80s action classics - before studios realized they could make just as much money by releasing shallow special-effects extravaganzas with no point or ideas whatsoever. The Matrix does a fine job of tapping into 90s troubles of over-connectiveness and dehumanization in an ever more information-driven world - where it's easy to feel like meaningless cogs in a great inhuman machine. Just as we can look back on films like the Blade Runner and appreciate how real the prospect of an high-tech urban wasteland felt back then, I believe we'll see our own 90s fears mirrored in the Matrix in years to come. As for the DVD itself, it comes packed with extras. Even the chapter selection screens have actual mini-displays of the film in action, rather than just thumbnail stills. One oddity, however, is the theatrical trailer is only available using a PC DVD-ROM drive. Be warned! The Matrix is a hybrid DVD with so many extras that many older players have had trouble handling it. If yours is among the first generation of players, you may want to consider renting first to make sure yours can handle it properly.

Review: At last, science fiction with brains... the likes of which you don't get to see that often nowadays. One excellent movie, on par with The 13th Floor, but alas, the disc crashes on too many players (home and PC alike). Wait for a V2.0 if you want to buy it, but rush for it as soon as it's out.

Review: I am not one for martial arts but I will say that this movie showcased martial arts in a way that will make ANYONE a fan. The premise behind this plot was disturbing-but it made you think, "Is this possible," "Will the world one day come to this"... Please see this film, the effects are to entertaining to miss, the actors/actresses all very talented, and the plot VERY original!
