Summary: The best reason to own a DVD player
Review: If you don't have a DVD player yet, this disc is the reason to get one.The digital sound is so clear and crisp you can hear every single bullet casing tinkle on the floor. The music soundtrack is loud but not deafening. What really make the disc stand out are the extra features. (Curiously, there are no movie trailers included, although if you have a DVD-ROM player, you can access the website directly.) There is a feature on the making of "The Matrix," but that's only the beginning. The "Red Pill" feature is a short feature on the way they filmed "bullet time," which is the slow motion yet not slow motion film technique. The "White Rabbit" feature is the best; the entire movie runs, but at certain key sequences -- those where you really want to know, "How did they do that?" -- a white rabbit blinks on the screen. If you trigger the DVD remote, you get whisked to another short documentary on how the scene was filmed. As for the movie, it's outstanding as well.

Review: This was by far the greatest movie i have ever seen. It had great special effects and great music throughout the whole movie. I have seen this movie many times and havent gotten tired of it. I would recomend this movie to anyone who hasnt it.

Review: I personally believe this is one of the best movies I've ever seen and probably ever will see. The special effects, cast, and story line are all fantastic! After seeing this movie I was left in awe. This is one show that will be in my collection forever.

Summary: The new "Total Recall"
Review: Real vs. imagination pulls me in every time and this film does an excellent job of presenting it. The special effects are fabulous and the music is excellent. I recommend it to everyone. It was the first DVD that I bought for my new player. This one makes you think and has application to all facets of life.

Summary: Guns and glory!
Review: If you didn't like the 13th Floor, don't assume you won't like the Matrix. The Matrix is fast-paced, original, and wonderfully crafted (e.g., did you know that the red hues were filtered out of the matrix scenes to give the viewer a sense of a drab facsimile of reality?). Although few sci-fi movies are as thought-driven as 2001, the Matrix is surprisingly stimulating. It definitely holds your attention throughout and makes you want to watch it again when you're done!

Summary: The Matrix Must Be Seen
Review: Intoxicating. That's the word I used to describe The Matrix as I left the theater. The new science fiction cyberpunk story is a visual feast for the eyes, but it also offers some mind-bending suggestions about reality and perception. Keanu Reeves stars in this cyber-thriller as Neo, a computer programmer who has spent his life in search of the truth about a computer network known as the Matrix. As the mysterious Morpheus (Lawrence Fishburne, Event Horizon) tells him, however, "No one can be told what the Matrix is." Viewers can't possibly comprehend the whole story without seeing it. In this case, seeing is very much believing. Although The Matrix uses some familiar thematic elements from science fiction, the story is told with a cinematic vision and style that makes it intense, refreshing, and incredibly compelling. In short, this is not a rehash of Reeves' 1995 cyber-disaster Johnny Mnemonic. The closest comparison I can make is last year's SF film noir, Dark City. This is good SF, pushing the boundaries and challenging our perception of the genre. Reeves is also surprisingly good. Although he has been wooden in the past (I've often referred to him as the William Shatner of our generation), I think he's very good here. Fishburne gives a powerful performance as Morpheus, cloaking himself in an air of mystery while radiating leadership and strength. Unfortunately, newcomer Carrie-Anne Moss (television's "F/X: The Series") comes off rather flat as the tough-hitting Trinity, proving once again that men who write science fiction often don't understand women well enough to write them. The special effects in The Matrix are a key element in the film, but the story is the real grabber. Even when the story seems to be taking a back seat to the special effects, they are only enhancing our understanding of Neo's world and his role in it. The visuals never become the story. Anyone who knows me well might discount this review as my usual geek-out over anything science fiction, but an informal poll of others showed a consistent favorable reaction. All I can say is, see it for yourself. If you are a fan of science fiction or action movies The Matrix is worth the trip.

Summary: i could watch this movie over and over again.....
Review: I had to watch this movie twice to fully understand it, but it doesn't get any better than this. I haven't seen a movie this good in a long time and I watch a lot of movies. TThis is sure to be one of my all-time favorites.

Summary: A Visual Feast - Pig Out!
Review: Where to begin? We'll start with the effects, since that is the main reason most people will watch this film. They are superb, and I cannot fault them in any way. The plot? Surprisingly in a film like this, there is one. And it is actually well planned and thought provoking. Neo (Reeves) find out thanks to a hacker named Morpheous (Fishburn) that the world he lives in is generated by computers. To tell you more is to deny the film some of its impact, so thats as much as I'll say. As for the acting... well, I'm afraid my review becomes a bit mixed. Fishburn is excellent as ever as the mysterious Morpheous, and for once Reeves actualy appears to be acting! Unfortuantely, Carrie-Anne Moss give a really awful performance. I've seen shop mannekins with more animation! There is one point where she is falling forty floors down the side of a building in a helicopter. How does she look? Afraid? Terrified? Perhaps even mildly pensive as she plummets groundwards? NO. She looks, for want of a better word, bored. Watch this film however, ad enjoy what is sure to become a classic along the lines of Blade Runner fors its pessimistic view of the future.

Summary: one of my favorites
Review: Wow, what a trip! I've seen it three times since it came out and am still going back for more. I think it would appeal to anyone who has ever pondered reality and come to the conclusion that it's all completely subjective. The sci-fi element of the Matrix is well-conceived and believable to anyone with an imagination although some suspension of disbelief is necessary. Despite the fact I'm not a huge fan of martial arts movies, I was very drawn in by the use of martial arts here: it's appealing to think we are all physical equals contingent upon our mental power. Finally and importantly, the acting was excellent and the cast created engaging characters. So many people I know look forward to the sequels with great anticipation.

Summary: Best Sci-fiction I have seen
Review: Unbelieveable at first, even don't know what's talking about, but as the movie goes on, everything becomes so possible that I even start to wondering if I am in the Matrix. Very breathtaking.
