Summary: Yep....watch it twice
Review: I watched this movie the first time totally "blinded". Since I am not a modern-day movie fan (an old movie buff) I had not followed the hype regarding this movie. My teenaged son begged me to watch it with him, so I did. The very first couple of scenes were very confusing and I kept threatening to stop watching, but then I started to get interested. I thought the special effects were great. I did find it just a little bit difficult to follow the first time, but the second time around, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's one of those movies that you shouldn't take 100% seriously, but sit and enjoy the fast action and the special effects and maybe, just maybe, wonder about this so-called world we live in. Nah, really, it is a great movie for entertainment. It's not a movie I'd personally watch over and over, but I did enjoy it and I feel it is well worth viewing.

Summary: The Matrix is a fine work of art. It's awesome!
Review: I watched this movie with rather low expectations, but man, were they ever exceeded! Keanu Reeves does a great job playing the role of Neo, and, besides the cheesy, "I love you" ending, this movie is perfect in every way. I recomend it to all people, young and old, who don't mind a few harsh words and a little violence, because this thought-provoking movie is one that you just can't afford to miss!

Summary: only movie I've watched 3 times in one night and liked it
Review: I watched this the night it came out on DVD and I didn't know what to expect. everyone from my school had seen it and it was all they talked about. I was really looking forward to it. Extremely complex the first time through, especially if you miss a few of the key elements but it gets a little clearer the third of fourth time. Some of the most exciting fight scenes and the best special effects in a movie with such a complex and intriguing plot-line ever. Go see it . . . a few times.

Summary: A runaway hit!
Review: I went in figuring "hey my girlfriend wants me to see it so I'll just put up with Keanu Reeves for 2 hours, yawn". I came out with my hair blown straight! I managed to catch the movie twice in the same day, I was that amazed! I entered a skeptic and came out a believer :-) (Okay just kidding about the 5 times a day...usually it's like 3 or 4 haha)

Summary: An incredible ride!!!!!
Review: I went into this movie wondering what I was getting myself into. (I still had bad memories of Johnny Mnemonic.) Could this cyber-punk flavored movie succeed where others had failed? Their really hadn't been a great cyber-punk flavored movie since Blade Runner. I am glad I went to this movie. WOW! When I sat down and the movie started, I felt totally immersed. This movie made me think about the nature of reality while at the same time taking me for an incredible ride. This movie was Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Cyber-Punk, Action, Philosophical, with a touch of romance thrown in for good measure. This movie grabs you and never lets go. I have seen this movie 3 times to date and have seen something new each time. This movie makes you think and entertains you in ways you cannot imagine. I honestly believe it is the best sci-fi movie of the year. (Yes, better than the movie with Jar-Jar. Don't get me wrong, that other Sci-Fi movie was good, but it is not the Matrix. I saw George's first movie when it debuted and was blown away buy the characters and the story. As a 10 year old I thought I was in heaven when that movie came out. I felt the same way with each of the sequels except for the newest one. Unfortunately the latest endeavor from GL is more like a children's movie that was aimed at the 5-8 year old audience.) The Matrix is an intelligent story that will be enjoyed by everyone. It is, at the same time, a guilty pleasure of an Action Movie and a challenging philosophical thinking man's movie. If you have yet to see this movie, go. It is an incredibly fun movie and an incredible ride.

Summary: The Ultimate Action movie
Review: I went to go see it thinking it was just a lot of hype like Star Wars but it was all true. The special effects are the best ever seen in any movie. Kneau Reeves and Lawerence Fishburne were so cool in it especially the very Bruce Lee fight scene they had. Carrie ann Moss was sexy as Trinity. But in all the movie kicks severe Butt. Go out and see it then buy it.

Summary: Mindbending!
Review: I went to see this film at the movies, and was not expecting much.Boy, how wrong could i be! i enjoyed it so much i went back the following day and watched it again! Although i have the region 2 version of this film, i'm sure there is not many differences, i would reccomend this to any one who doesn't mind thinking about a film, as a lot of people i know said they found it confusing, i did not however.Excellent special FX , excellent acting, excellent storyline. It makes you fell like a kid again, by the way it makes you want to be Neo, and learn Kung-Fu in a few minutes.I can't wait for the sequels. :o)

Summary: Bring on the sequel! Now!
Review: I went to see this film knowing nothing about it, thinking it was just a high-tech keanu reeves flick. o, my, god! I was totally blown away from the opening scene. this film is unlike anything I have ever seen before. the effects totally blasted star wars into well-deserved oblivion at the oscars, and Larwrence Fishbourne gave a terrific acting performance. the only downside on the dvd is that in some spots the picture is not that great of quality, especially when they are in the sewers hiding from the robots. other than that, the sound is the best you will hope to find on dolby digital, very good. if you can find the DTS version, pick up that one instead, it's slighty better. I can hardly wait until 2002 when the sequel comes out. for now though, I'll just be watching this film over and over again.

Summary: Maybe if it hadn't been so hyped --
Review: I went to see this movie with very high expectations, and found it failed to live up to most of the hype. The fan hysteria over this flick is completely incomprehensible to me -- I don't understand why this outperformed the comparable Pitch Black or the superior Dark City.

Although there were some pretty computer effects and some exciting fight sequences, the movie wore out its welcome quickly. How many explosions/actors fighting in flight harnesses/slow-mo gunplay does one movie need?

The plot and the visuals are recycled from better movies -- Blade Runner, Akira, Alien, even old Star Trek. This movie doesn't have an original thought in it -- it's just a blended puree of Anime, Kung Fu movies, and old sci-fi. I always giggle when I read about the "deep allegory" of the film. It's just a little Christ-figure with a little Eastern Philosophy, and it serves as no more than window-dressing to an essentially mindless movie.

The weakest link by far is Keanu Reeves in the lead role. He has all the charisma and acting talent of a piece of celery. He's also got the wrong build for a hero -- when he starts martial-arts posing he looks like a 98-pound weakling flexing in front of a mirror. I found myself laughing through most of his "serious" scenes.

Maybe the rabid fandom for this mediocre movie pushes me from indifference to dislike, but the more people gush about this flick, the less I like it. It plays like some corporation's idea of cool, a calculated attempt to make teens go "Wow." For that reason, it occupies the same entertainment strata as N'Sync and Britney Spears.

Summary: THE BEST MOVIE EVER MADE, EXCLAMATION POINT!
Review: I will put this in one sentence: Anyone who rates this movie anything less than 5 stars should be put away for life.
