Summary: A brilliant masterpiece, something for everybody
Review: I have never before seen a film that combines so well the best features of every cinematographic genre. Character development, plot twists, intense action, love, more intense action, fantastic special effects, intellectual concepts, biblical references, literary references, etc. I have made it my sole goal in life to make the directors wealthy by seeing it 4 times in the theater and buying DVDs as Christmas presents. Even for my grandmother!

Summary: One of my Favorite Movies
Review: I have never really liked Keaneu Reeves, but he was great in this movie. The other characters were excellent as well. This movie has AWSOME special effects as well as an interesting story.

I have this movie at home on DVD and I never tire of watching it. I would however reccomend that you watch this movie more than once because the movie does not make any sense until you have watched it for a second time.

BUY IT! YOU WILL BE GLAD YOU DID

Summary: The best MOVIE EVER!!!!
Review: I have never really seen a better movie. The movie has thousands of visual effects. The sound is really nothing but art. At first, the viewer may expect to feel a sence of disorientation but that goes off in the first half an hour or before. When the movie ends, the viewer may experience a sence of freedom. Everything seems possible (even thougth it is not). I strongly recommend this movie. There is no other movie out there (at least for people who like action or who like science fiction) that gives that much back. BUY IT!

Summary: It;s like X-Files in cyberspace
Review: I have never seen a more over-rated movie then the Matrix. It is all special effects and no story. I don't know why so many liked this movie. I did not. I prefer other sci-fi/fantasy films with more story to them, and more imagination to them, including the one with a character named Jar Jar Binks. That is good movie making, not this movie.

Summary: My favorite movie of 1999
Review: I have not seen the DVD of this movie yet, but I saw it once in the theater and twice so far on LaserDisc. I enjoyed it in the theater but even more so at home! I love martial arts and ground-breaking special effects, and this movie combined the two with a suspenseful story and characters that I cared about. The acting was, I thought, very believable and definitely above average for an action movie. The LD has, I believe, the same documentaries that are on the DVD and I enjoyed watching those as well. The cast worked their butts off training for the fight scenes and they really are spectacular.

Summary: In the Top 3 of 1999 so far
Review: I have not seen the video version of this, since it is not out, but this is one of the best action movies I have ever seen. The plot is complex, but too hard to follow, and the special effects are wonderful, but don't take over, as in most action movies lately. The real wonder of this movie, is the fact that Keanu Reeves didn't annoy the hell out of me. There is only one other Keanu Reeves movie, where he was able to accomplish this, and that was Speed. This can be the makings of a new image for Reeves. I hope he doesn't blow it, when he makes the 2 sequels.

Summary: Unfortunately, no one can be TOLD what the Matrix is...
Review: I have only one complaint for this movie. Keanu Reeves, Trinity and Tank have some pretty weak moments. That being said, I shall now give everything else about this movie (these qualities being so super a numerous that there is no question that it is five stars).

This movie will blow your mind. The special effects are more revolutionary than Star Wars, the action is suberb, most of the acting rocks, and the plot is spectacular. The plot, which I consider to be one of the most important aspects of a movie, is great because you can see both sides. I despise a movie in which the "bad guy" is completely evil without any cause. This movie shows that some people's personalities can be too weak to accept what is hard to believe, and to drive themselves back into their ignorant naive state, they would do anything. That sums up why this movie is so great. You can see the point of view of all sides, and the whole thing is enhanced by everything else in the movie.

Of course, I am not alone with my 5 stars. There are thousands of other reasons to buy this movie, that I won't bore you with. Because no one can be told what the Matrix is... you have to see it for yourself.

Summary: The Matrix Has You!!!
Review: I have read a lot of reviews about this film when people say that this movie is pure rubbish. I am writing this to deny that.
I was a little skeptical about The Matrix before I saw it. I thought it was going to be extremely freaky or completely stupid. I was wrong on both counts.
This movie is not stupid or overly freaky. It is a little weird in the starting but don't fastforward it because you will miss important factors of the movie. The ending is probably my favorite part of the movie. From the lobby scene on, I could watch it over and over again. Very thrilling and actiony.
The story about the Matrix may not be true, but it makes one great movie!
Thomas 'Neo' Anderson(Keanu Reeves) is a computer hacker. He keeps hearing about 'the Matrix' and like anyone of us would, wants to know what it is. Then he is invited, by Morpheus, a man that Neo has been looking for for a long time, to come and find out about the Matrix. Curious, Neo accepts. What he doesn't know is, that once he finds out, his world will be turned upside down. Just wait till you find out! Talk about a mind-bender!
Contrary to what you may hear, The Matrix isn't really all that hard to follow. At least it wasn't for me. Just make sure you listen hard, so you don't miss anything. This is a good movie to be watched on a quiet night when you have nothing to do. And, yes, it does get easier to understand the more that you watch it.
With a great cast like Laurence Fishburne(Morpheus), Carrie-Anne Moss(Trinity) and of course Keanu Reeves(Neo), there is no end to the excitement and amazement. Mind-blowing special effects and fight scenes that keep you glued to the screen. Whoa! The Matrix is a movie that changed movie making and took it to a new level.
Even if action or sci-fi is not your 'thing', please just see it anyway. It is a great film and you can't afford not to see it! But be warned- it does have its share of language and, like I said, is a little freaky. But all in all I give it a 10 out of 10! It has a great plot, actors, and music that really gets you into the movie!
Like Morpheus said,"Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for youreself." YOU will have to see it for YOUrself!
"What is the Matrix?" Like Neo, you may ask. Well... watch this movie and you will find out!

Summary: EYE CANDY. PSEUDO-INTELLECTUALISM. Nothing more.
Review: I have read about half of the reviews for this movie and there seems to be an overwhelming consensus that this is the best science fiction movie ever made. I beg to differ. 2001: A Space Odyssey, Brazil, Gattaca, and Bladerunner are better contenders for that title. Most reviewers are quick to point out the innovative special effects and the "complicated" plot rewarded by multiple viewings. Well, I cannot argue about the effects, that's where all three stars come from. They are superb, if not a bit overdone. I can't help but think that this movie is nothing but a long music video. Maybe that's why it's such a crowd pleaser. I found the plot a bit irritating for my tastes. I suppose it is because I am somewhat familiar with science fiction motiffs that I cannot find this movie daringly original. Unlike most reviewers who had to watch the movie so many times to "get it," I already had the ending pegged halfway through. The plot is not complicated except to the lazy-minded with attention spans that approach infinitely close to zero. The script is a pile of not-so-subtle religious allegory heaped with a bit of watered-down Baudrillard, some pseudo-Eastern philosophy, and tons of science fiction cliche. What annoys me the most about this film (aside from the typical-love-conquers-all ending) is the way it pretends to make grandiose statements on such profound topics as the nature of reality, man vs. machine, and conformity, when all it really turns out to be is an action flick dressed up in pseudo-intellectual garb. The "ideas" in this movie are grossly underdeveloped and though new to most, are actually centuries-old concepts and questions. I would like to say that this movie might be an entry point into an engaging intellectual discourse, but I know that most viewers will not bother to look too far into the traces of philosophy and literature littered throughout this film. More likely, they will just watch it again and again for its special effects and remain content with the sketchy patchwork of ideas that are simply COOL, FAR-OUT, TRIPPY, or MIND-BLOWING. In this way, the film fails as a philosophical and/or allegorical investigation. The effects are so "COOL" that they overshadow the limited intellectual content of the movie. Most viewers would rather wait for that kick-a** sequel or a Matrix video game than actually pick up a book and read. The allegory and symbolism are applied so heavy-handedly that the viewer doesn't even have to think all that hard. All in all, we have a great action movie with some good effects, but little else to offer, especially in the thought department. ALL FORM, NO CONTENT.
