Summary: One of the best movies ever
Review: I am the type of person that when I see a movie in the theaterI see it once and only once. However, The Matrix impressed me so much, that I have seen it 4 times in the theater, and one time on a hotel pay-per-view. It is not just a movie packed with fancy special effects, but it has an excellent story, amazing action scenes and a phenominal collection of actors. I promised myself after the fifth viewing, it would be the first DVD that I would purchase. And it will be.

Summary: Another gothic sci fi...
Review: I am tired of sci fi that borrows heavily from Blade Runner (gothic sets), Men in Black (more dark glasses), and Superman (shiny leather-clad femme fatale).

I was disappointed. The biblical references are arrogant and obvious (trinity, zion, etc).

Summary: Buy This DVD, DAMMIT!
Review: I am urging you, even if you are not a fan of action movies. to buy this DVD. The principals (Keanu Reeves {"Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure", "Speed"}, Laurence Fishburne {"Othello", "Higher Learning"}, Carrie-Anne Moss {"Red Planet", TV's "Models, Inc."}, Joe Pantoliano {TV's "The Sopranos", "The Fugitive"} and Hugo Weaving {"Babe", "Babe: Pig In The City"-both voiceover work, "Bangkok Hilton"} ) all give stellar performances. The story is believable and moves well. The action sequences (are great)(my particular favorite is the lobby scene).

Summary: Thought provoking
Review: I am usually not a fan of sci-fi films, but I didn't stereotype this one and went to see it anyway. I tend to judge a movie on what it has to say, and not just the visual effects. While the effects were great I think what makes this movie stand out is the theme that it presents.

The entire premise of the movie is about belief. At the beginning when the Agents and Trinity jump between buldings and the cops say "That's impossible." Or when Neo and Morpheus are fighting and Morpheus asks "Why did I beat you? Do you really think being stronger or faster than you matters in this place?" You see there are certain things ingrained into human consciousness. If you asked a man two hundred years ago whether man could fly his answer would have been "That's impossible." You see there maybe certain rules within society, but eventually they are broken. Today people say that interplanetary travel is impossible. Sure maybe today, but what about in the future.

Belief is very important. We all have personal limits to overcome, but the human mind is a mystery in many ways and can accomplish a lot more than anyone can imagine. "I'm going to hang up this phone and then I'm going to show these people what you don't want them to see. I'm going to show them a world without you, a world without rules and controls, without borders or boundaries, a world where anything is possible..."

Summary: A triumph of style and content, what a rush!
Review: I avoided seeing any trailers for the film as trailers these days seem to give too much away, so when I saw the video it was with an open mind. The Matrix was filmed in a expertly slick style very reminiscent of Blade. There was a surprisingly good performance by the often lacklustre Keanu Reeves who plays Neo a young man unhappy with his life. Laurence Fishburne gives a stunningly cool performance as the 'prophet' figure Morpheus who is searching for 'the One' his 'messiah'. The supporting cast were also first rate.

By degrees Neo is made to realise that there is more going on in the world than dreamed of in his philosophy. What he finds out is that literally nothing is true, and his whole life has been a cunningly fashioned lie.

The main protagonists in the film are the inhuman and creepy agents. These beings seem much closer to the true definition of 'men in black' than any other cinema portrayal to date.

The Action sequences throughout are extremely well done and powerful. There are superb balletic fight scenes as Neo and Trinity take the action to the Agents lair.

When used, the computer generated special effects are of jaw dropping quality, the hideous octopid creatures were particularly impressive.

A major weakness in the plot was the premise that the machine intelligence was using humans as batteries. Machines as smart at these would be using nuclear fusion for power at the very least. A better motive would have been the use of humanity as an organic extension to the machines own intelligence, feeding off humanity's imagination to expand it's own knowledge and therefor power.

Those looking for emotional depth in a film should rent The Piano, those looking for excitement and action have come to the right place.

Summary: Simple minded
Review: I believe i figured out whysome people like this movie, and some people don't. I have it on DVD, and watch it often. I find that most of the people that don't like the movie can't comprehend the true plot of the movie. They aren't able to accept that, or simply don't understand that, something else could be behind the scenes and in control of our lives. If you don't like the movie, and think you understand it, don't adventure to the deep end of the pool while swimming.

Summary: GREAT!!!
Review: I believe someone else said that the movie was bad because of no content. That is so wrong to me, first of all because it was the most involving storyline and even though it was all futuristic looking; it seems that the story is almost real and when I left the theatre I began to question our enviroment.

Summary: A "MASTERPIECE" FOR OUR "TIME"
Review: I believe that a great movie is great because the creative forces that produce the movie somehow connect with an aspect of life or the "truth" that is currently not fully revealed in human consciousness, yet exists in the human sub-conscious. I further believe that "THE MATRIX" is a vehicle that has the power to awaken us to a new awareness of reality. I beleive that we are pure consciousness, perceiving our Self to be that which we perceive in a virtual world we created long ago. THE MATRIX gives us the rare opportunity to reach this awareness, to experience the "true human condition", and THEN, it further creates the possibility for "true FREEDOM". My opinion is THE MATRIX is a masterpiece, as a movie, as a science-fiction / special effects movie, and as a bridge to the awareness that is only now emerging in human consciousness. If you haven't seen THE MARTIX, don't miss it.

Summary: The Matrix
Review: I believe that this is a very good movie. Most of the special effects are great. But if you watch closely you can see some horrible effects. Such as when a fighter drops his gun the gun is made out of such poor rubber that it bends. That is the only downfall, but that is merely a detail. All in all The Matrix is an awsome movie and i recommend it to everyone

Summary: One of the best DVD's made.
Review: I believe this is one of the best dvd's ever made. The visual effects are stunning, and as a bonus, you get a movie with a good, original plot. I got this movie as my first dvd and it is still the best out of many others I have viewed.
