Summary: Great film. Only a few minor flaws
Review: Okay, great special effects. Great action. Great story. Decent acting. You can read all of this in the other reviews. It is a no brainer that if you like any of the above qualities, you will probably like this movie.I have a few minor complaints, though. First of all, Keanu didn't quite pull off the kung fu thing. Yes he tried hard, which is one of the things I like about Keanu: he always tries hard and often takes on roles that are a bit of a stretch for him (John Harker in Dracula, for instance). But he just wasn't convincing. He is a great action star (no one could have been better in Point Break), but casting him in a kung fu role is akin to casting Charles Bronson in a ballet role. My second complaint, and I have seen this reiterated in some of the other reviews, is that the movie tried to be philosophical, but it really wasn't. It had a few pithy quotes, but it only scratched the surface of what they could have done with a film like this. Perhaps they were afraid of alienating the action movie fans by making it too deep, but I say "go for the depth." Complaint three has to do with the agents. Here you have virtual beings that integrate perfectly with the Matrix. They could take over any person in the Matrix, they could perform amazing feats by bending the Matrix to their will, so why couldn't they shoot guns for beans? They couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from the inside with a shotgun!!! Someone needs to rewrite that program. Lastly, Joe Pantolino (sp?) was grossly miscast in this film. I have liked Joe as an actor every since he played Guido in Risky Business. He is a good and likeable supporting actor, but he just doesn't fit in the cyberpunk arena. The filmmakers could have done just as well putting Zsa Zsa Gabor in that role. Sorry, Joe. That wasn't a cut. You just don't fit in that picture. Bill Paxton would have been a good substitute. Other than those minor flaws, the movie was excellent and enjoyable. The special effects blew me away, especially after I learned that so many of them were relatively low-tech. The "Making of.." feature on this DVD is an enlightening ride, as is the commentary. If you haven't seen this film, but think it looks remotely interesting, get it. The good far outweighs the bad.

Summary: Ooh! Pretty pictures!
Review: Okay, this film's kinda fun if you don't think about it too hard, but when people characterize it as "thought-provoking" or similar, I have to assume that they, ahem, don't read much. I mean, really: The Matrix doesn't have an original thought in its head. The "robots controlling humans" business plays *exactly* like something from an old issue of Heavy Metal (now THERE'S a shining bastion of literary quality), and the "what is reality?" affair has been done with *much* more aplomb by such authors as Philip K. Dick, Samuel Delany, and Robert Anton Wilson. And as for the characters...crikey. What can you say? Here's a fun game: read Neuromancer, then watch The Matrix and shout out each character's name as he/she appears. You shouldn't have much trouble. All in all, a truly preposterous film, yet strangely enjoyable. Just phase out the bits where it tries and fails to be profound, enjoy the goofily mindless action sequences, and laugh at the numerous unintentionally funny segments, and you should spend an enjoyable couple hours.

Review: okay. here's the next geek's divine movie. first, it was star trek. now, years later, that franchise has petered out and the movies and last few series proved how awful it really was. next up; star wars. well, lucas himself (with his second trilogy) has proven how really bad a filmmaker he really is (like we didn't already know it when return of the jedi came out). 15 years from now this will be the one and eventually it will join the reputations of the aforementioned.
listen up geeks;if you really want to prove how cool and manly you are join the other 'boys' and start spinning your wheels in the parking lot.

Summary: This is not a Movie.
Review: Okay. I know this was suposed to be a story of man who uses a new technology and I guess is transported to some new alternate reality. But with all the effects and the really poor editing of this film. I really could not make heads or tails of this movie. I don't think movie is really the correct word to desribe this film....Try a cross between a video game and a poorly written comic book story.

Review: OMG, I saw this movie it was so awesome and it really made me think about our reality and could we really be controlled by machines. The special effects is awesome!!!!! I mean wow. It blew me away. I'm usually not a sci fi fan. But I was curious but now I am hooked. And I can see why Trinity fell for Neo! Neo or Keanu is hottt!!! I love the kung foo and the action scenes. Even though they r just alittle bit farfetched. But every guy I've talked to said it was awesome. You just have to pay close attention or else you will get lost but other than that is was awesome movie!!!!

Summary: AWESOME MOVIE!
Review: On many levels, this movie was a truly spiritual event. That, on top of great action, special F/X, & wonderful plot. It was a mind, body and soul trip! This movie left me with a feeling that maybe, in a way, I TOO can fly. Sure, it was pure special effects, Hollywood pat, been done before, etc., but you know there IS nothing new under the sun. So any movie that can make it fresh-like-new-never-seen-it-put-like-THAT-before! is pure delight for me. It's one of the few movies I can revisit with the fondness that is usually reserved for a favorite book. A book that doesn't need to be critically acclaimed, Pulitzer prize winning caliber, true to life, etc. but a book that touches me on a purely personal level -- one that never fails to give me something for my time when I'm done.

Summary: This movie breathes life into the Sci-Fi genre
Review: On top of being a solid action movie, this movie definately brings something new to the world of the sci-fi movie. After Lucas did it with Star Wars back in the late 70's, the Wachowski brothers do it in the late 90's. This movie breaks to mold as of late and uses special effects to tell the story and doesn't put them on center stage. The DVD is awesome, with plenty of extras. A super clean transfer, and great sound. This moive is a must see.

Review: Once again Keanu puts on another performance worthy of Bill and Ted's excellent adventure, and Point Break, but this film has some unbelievable effects and a story that keeps you semi alert. Worth taking a look at, if nothing else just for Keanu's crazy antics.

Summary: The 20th Century's Last Great Film
Review: Once having seen a great film, I will watch it again, to see what flaws I can spot in its casting, acting, script, direction, the believability and appropriateness of use of special effects, staging, coloring, costuming, ingenuity, reference to other cinematic works of art, etc. This movie not only has a plot that makes me wonder if we are not already in a Matrix by a different name, but it offers a rare cinematic sustenance last seen in the first and second Star Wars: philosophy and morality impelled forward by superhuman action and consequence. I have seen this film, in the theater, 10 times. It is pure genius, "virtually" flawless, and what "flaws" you find are the directors' intentional reminders of the importance of being human. "The Oracle" will back me up on this. :^) Bravissimo to the new W. Brothers! I can hardly wait for future product! George Lucas, it's time to wake up. The Matrix has you! Dan Jordan
