Summary: one of the best action movies and the best in the trilogy
Review: Die Hard is a great acion movie, packed with (you gessed it) action, witty humor, and unbeatable suspense. The movies starts when a NY cop (John McClane, played by Bruce Willis) arrives in Los Angelas to meet his wife at a Christmas Party. Soon after he arrives at the party (which is taking place in a 40 story building)terrorists (lead by Alan Rickman who plays Hans Gruber)break in so they can steal money. Apparently, there is 650 million dollars locked away in a vault. McClane (armed with only a pistol) becomes the only chance that the hostages have. And since his wife in among the hostages, it gets personal.Moving at an incredible pace, Die hard succesfully merges action, humor, suspense, and breathtaking thrills in to one tasty DVD. The action is well paced so that each few scenes lead up to a big action scene. For example, about a half and hour in to the movie, McClane gets in a fight with a terrorist, which leads up to a roof battle, which leads to a dangerous visit to the elevator shaft. (he he he) Once I saw the movie, I found that the only flaw was that it all ended too soon. All in all: SEE IT.

Review: This is one of those action films that actually deserved to be called a modern classic. In the film, Bruce Willis (currently the brooding lead of such films as "Unbreakable") is a smart-mouthed New York cop who visits Los Angeles to attend a Christmas party at a building where his wife is working. "Terrorists" arrive to spoil the preceedings, leaving Willis alone, exhausted, barefoot, and the only one who can stop them. Despite it's numerous and carbon-copy immitators, "Die Hard" is a great action epic, and it's displayed quite nicely in this new 5-star DVD release. First off, you get two audio commentaries: one with director John McTiernan and production designer Jackson DeGovia explaining the difficulties of starting a movie that DIDN'T have a ending set in stone and filming in a studio-owned building, and a second one with visual effects supervisor Richard Edlund explaining some technical aspects of the film and the secret behind Bruce Willis' "barefoot" performance. A text commentary (like the text commentary on "The Abyss" DVD) is also available where the film is analyzed through numerous interviews with the actors, producers, and film critics. On the second disc, there's a good amount of stuff to keep you busy. There's a deleted scene (also on the first disc) and some outtakes, trailers, TV ads, articles on the film, the script (NOT just in DVD-ROM form), and a slick little treat called "The Cutting Room". Here, you can see how elements work in some of the big scenes in this film by either changing takes or playing with the sound. Also, for you people confused with the difference between widescreen and fullscreen, you get a nice demonstration piece to show you the difference. All in all, if you like the film, this is a definite keeper for your DVD collection.

Summary: DIE HARD has no value of life...
Review: But that's not my complaint. John McTiernan's only film worth seeing is PREDATOR (1987). That Schwarzenegger film has action, suspense, humor, and intensity. Now why would I think that DIE HARD possesed the same qualities? Proves to be a major disappointment, and Willis should've used his sixth sense before signing on and reading the script. However, if you've never heard Reginald ("Family Matters")Vel Johnson curse, then you have got to see this [...]. Are there any good movies out there?

Summary: Die Hard Taken To The Extreme!
Review: Die Hard, in and of itself, is a true classic. It is a staple of the action genre, and is still a thrilling motion picture 13 years after its original release. However, when you add to that everything included on this 2-disc set, you'll wonder why they didn't release this set first instead of the first "bare-bones" DVD. Extended scenes, outtakes, articles, brand-new (anamorphic!) transfer in 2:35-1 widescreen, Surround Sound, screenplay, trailers and TV spots, and the mega-cool edit your own scenes feature. The only downside to it is that they only give you three scenes to choose from, but it is still a one-of-a-kind option. If you a die-hard (pun intended!) about this movie, get this 2-disc set as soon as possible!

Review: When I bought the "Die Hard Ultimate Collection" set, I really didn't think they would be able to do much with the very first Die Hard. It's a pretty old movie. I really didn't know if they could do much to improve the picture and sound quality of the movie. Well, I thought wrong, for when I watched this movie, I was completely shocked and stunned. I said to myself, "I can't believe they made this movie better." This has to be one of the best transfers I have ever seen. The picture is ten times more crisper and sharper than the older DVD version. When the terrorists shoot out the glass windows to trap Willis, you can literally see every single piece of glass landing on the floor. Also, the sound is explosive and very impressive, especially if you can watch it in DTS. When I watched this new version of "Die Hard", it was like seeing it for the very first time. If you are not familiar with "Die Hard", here's the story: Bruce Willis is John McClane, a very short tempered New York cop. He goes to California, hoping to patch things up with his wife, who works at the Nakatomi Plaza. All of that changes when a group of terrorists, armed to the teeth with guns and explosives, decide to take over the building. Now, the only one who can stop them is McClane, and believe, he's not too thrilled with the idea, but he knows he's the only one who stands a chance against them. McClane goes on a one-man war, running around the plaza, taking out the bad guys, and trying his best to stay alive. As soon as he hears the first gun shot, McClane knows he's about to have a very bad day. This is a must have for anyone who loves "Die Hard". I know some might be hesitant since they already have the first box set, but believe me, it is worth it. Filled with non-stop action and thrills, "Die Hard" is a classic, and should be seen by all who loves action films. Again, I must say this is one of the best transfers I have ever seen. An easy five out of five, without question.

Review: This DVD is fun! If you loved Die Hard, you'll love this and all the dvd extras. John McTierman's director commentaries are enlightening.The only thing that would have made this better is if Bruce Willis had sat in, instead of the production designer and his gushing about how he picked the wall paper. The special feature where you can edit three scenes from the movie, demonstrate in a small way how many creative decision go into putting together a big Hollywood action flick. The short special effects documentary is good too. Richard Edlund talks about how a stunt man screwing up, made a certain cliffhanging sequence better. Yippie Kayaee!

Summary: Top notch action movie
Review: This was an excellent movie, really fun to watch. The plot was better than most action movies these days and it was the beginning of a great trilogy, and also launched Bruce Willis's great career. Alan Rickman is perfect as the German leader of the terrorists that take over the building. Anyway, if you like action movies or just want to kick back with something u wont have to think about too heavily give this movie a try. The DVD also has some great special features.

Review: Sporting one of the tightest action screenplays of all time, Bruce Willis portrays New York cop John McClaine who is thrust into extraordinary circumstances when he tries to make ammends with his estranged wife. Villainous Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman in a scene stealing tour de force) has other plans this holiday season and unfortunately, McClaine is going to get stuck in the middle of it. Great effects and characters under the precise direction of John McTiernan (Hunt for Red October) make for great entertainment. The new DVD is wonderful. Loaded with commentaries and little extras to keep you busy for awhile. Followed up by 2 passable sequels...

Summary: D'oh Hard
Review: You really have to watch this movie with the precept that the bad guys forgot just one little detail...Bruce Friggin' Willis! You can just hear them saying under their breath every time he does something to throw them off their task or screw up their plans...'d'oh!' with a German accent of course. And, thank God that, though it was cut from the movie, the DVD special feature's outakes introduces us to the love scene Bruce has with his own ego after the cast rap party. Really folks, it's entertaining, but good god, could the good guys and the bad guys be any less subltly defined? I was waiting for Hans, the head bad guy to put on his Snidley Whiplash hat, twist his pointy moustache and yell; '...nyah ah ah!' And what is it with the walkie-talkies? Are we to believe clever international criminals are stupid enough to use such easily-monitored devices? Apparently audiences are thought to be so dense the director thought they wouldn't 'get' all the action and plot line unless everyone was on the same page using a common communication device. When it's all said and done, this movie is the modern day equivalent to a Roy Rogers western...complete with the 'yippee-i-o-ky-yay!' and the obligatory ride into the sunset. Of course a sequel was inevitable...but the formula was the same...same plot, same protagonist, different venue. I can just see the director now...'yeah that's it...instead of a big building, we'll do it in an airport!' Oh it's a good movie, and it's okay to watch, but suspend disbelief and put your brain in the closet...you won't need it. For this one, the second one and the third.
