Summary: GREAT MOVIE
Review: I never went to see this movie at the theatre because I thought it was another stupid comedy. My friend bought it and we saw it at her house. I really enjoyed it, I went and bought my own. I love tommy Lee jones, he's always portraying the serious, macho type of character. Will Smith is an awesome young cop with tons of energy. The theme of the movie is good and the movie has enough action to keep you in front of the tube. Great family movie.

Summary: Monty Python meets X-Files
Review: Well at least it feels like that in this sci-fi comedy from director Barry Sonnenfeld, with Wil Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as special cops who look after "the alien scum of the universe." The jokes are so funny, you will laugh until tears come to our eyes.

Summary: so-so movie... great DVD
Review: My major gripe against this movie is the running time. I think we can all agree that one hour is not enough to really get into the movie, because so much information is comin at you. They have to cram everything together into those few 60 minutes. Exactly what Russel describes on his audio commentary on "Three Kings".

Anyway, it's still a stylistic and fun rollercoaster ride. Tommy Lee Jones made this role his own and played it to perfection. The jokes are still okay. It's mostly style what makes this one shine.

When getting it on DVD, it really doesn't matter much which version you get. I prefer this Limited Edition because of the much cooler looking box. But in overall the added extras don't add much to the original ones.

You decide what has a higher priority - a cool box or saving money.

Review: The extras in this two disk set are the icing on the cake. It's a must have for the sci-fi fan!

Summary: Will Smith's funniest movie so far
Review: I knew from the previews that "Men In Black" was gonna be a hilarious movie. It was even funnier than I thought it was gonna be once I saw it. Will Smith is a rookie agent whose objective is to help terminate some lofty aliens. He teams up with an experienced exterminator, Tommy Lee Jones. The movie is best as a comedy movie, but it's also a great sci-fi movie with good special effects. Some of the funniest parts are when Will Smith is given the tiny gun that he will use, he looks at it and doesn't think it can do any damage, but he soon finds out that it can almost blow a building up. Another good one is when nobody is paying attention to Will and you can see in the background that a baby alien has hatched and is swinging Will Smith against a car.

Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith are great together in this movie, and they would make a good duo for later comedy movies. If you like great comedy/sci-fi movies, I recommend getting "Men In Black," you shouldn't be disappointed with it.

Summary: Great fun...
Review: "Men In Black" proceeds from the familiar premise that humans are one of many intelligent species in the universe, but adds a coy corollary: we ain't that bright a species.

Nevertheless, in the universe of "Men In Black", Earth is a kind of DMZ for aliens looking for a trouble free existence, and the job of the Men In Black is to keep it trouble free. Tommy Lee Jones's character, Agent K, likens it to the exile world of "Casablanca", and it's a apt comparison. But the worst problem facing the poor exiles of "Casablanca" was Louis Renault's arbitrary gendarme; certainly, giant intergalactic bugs that suck the guts out of humans and wear their skins as a disguise never made an appearance at Rick's Cafe Americain.

And where is this sci-fi "Casablanca"? New York, of course.

"Men In Black" veers wildly from sly comedy to slapstick and fairly standard sci-fi action. There are the requisite sci-fi trappings, like ray guns, flying saucers, a fancy high-tech headquarters, and cool gadgets. But "Men In Black" takes these kinds of sci-fi conventions and turns them on their ear; Agent J (Will Smith) is issued his ray gun sidearm, it's a tiny affair called the "Noisy Cricket". But as it turns out, the Noisy Cricket is roughly as powerful as a rocket launcher. The Men In Black's requisite high tech headquarters doubles as a kind of intergalactic customs office where aliens man the communications console AND the coffee maker, and like to smoke Marlboros.

This sort of "anything goes" tone works well for "Men In Black", at least for its first half. Agent K even instructs J in the fine art of finding aliens. Does he use some kind of super-advanced technology to do it? Nope. He reads the National Enquirer.

Jones is all seriousness as Agent K, a man who's literally been there and done that, and listened to Elvis while it was happening; Smith is at his streetwise best as K's partner J, who has an affinity for chasing down aliens and smack talking 50-foot-high giant bugs that have 70 million children (as the bug stares J down, he crushes a cockroach and asks 'Was that your auntie?').

I won't even begin to describe the over-the-top plot, but suffice it to say that the film's villain (Vincent D'Onofrio) is an intergalactic bug who inhabits the skin of a redneck farmer (Vincent D'Onofrio) and isn't real fond of humans, especially ones that hurt bugs.

That kind of irreverent, 'anything goes' tone works well for "Men In Black", but unfortunately, the movie bogs down when it goes for standard summer action fare about halfway through. It's also a shame that director Barry Sonnenfeld couldn't find more for the excellent Linda Fiorentino to do in this film.

Still, even when "Men In Black" resorts to standard action-flick conventions (the street chase, for example), the tongue-in-cheek attitude remains, and that's the film's biggest strength.

It bears noting that the DVD has any number of excellent features that make it a nice buy.

Summary: Great features and funny commentary
Review: The "Men in Black" limited edition is one of the best DVDs available. It is loaded with entertaining features and has a very funny commentary with star Tommy Lee Jones.

The film itself is very funny and doesn't wear out it's welcome. It's a good purchase.

Summary: A Limited Edition DVD review
Review: A very good set of DVD's. I would have preferred a double-sided DVD instead of two. The audio commentary was okay, but I've heard better. I liked the Mystery Theater 3000 way they set up the audio commentary, where you can see an outline of the director and Jones as they point at the screen. They also have a graphic where they can write on the film much like Monday Night Football. The bonus features had some very interesting items that I never seen on any other DVD. Interactive items where you can re-edit 3 different scenes and another where you can breakdown the special effects to their various components, very unique and interesting. Another feature where the aliens morph from initial concept to final look was also very interesting. There were no deleted scenes although the director talks about some scenes that were changed to modify the plot. Some storyboards from never shot scenes are also included. Overall, I'd say if you like science fiction or this movie, this is a must have. Otherwise, I might pass it up.

Summary: What a DVD!
Review: This movie is everything a DVD was meant to be. When I first saw the pricetag on the limited edition of Men In Black, I was somewhat suprised at the cost. After all, it was a little steep. But having some extra cash, I decided to splurge. When I popped each dvd (There's Two) into my player, I quickly decided it was well worth the money. The sound and picture quality are superb, and the extras are mind boggling. The second disk, which is dedicated solely to extras, freatures several deleted scenes, a unique storyboard to movie comparison, a comprehensive look at the deconstruction of two key scenes in the movie, and so much more. And lets not forget about the free conceptual drawing and supplemental booklet, both included in the box set. As for the first disk, it includes the movie itself, along with a visual commentary by Tommy Lee Jones and director Barry Sonnenfeld. Trust me, if you have the cash, you wont regret adding this movie to your collection.

Summary: Good movie, Expecting More From DVD
Review: I was really excited about getting this DVD, but once I got it I wasn't AS much impressed. Don't get me wrong, its a great movie, but some of the features it promised really are not that great. The best part of the DVD besides the movie is being able to see Tommy and Barry MST3k style for visual commentary. Other interesting items is a video about Men in Black and some trailers. Great movie, but not quite too much stuff, even though it comes on 2 discs :).
