Summary: This is the best of the Batman modern series!
Review: What's wrong with this movie? The plot is a little off, but that's nothing! It has great action and dramatic scenes that makes this so good. The story goes as the evil Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenneger, yes he is a goofy psycotic Batman baddie, every actor sees his or her day) wants to control the world and turn it into one big icebox so he may bring back his wife. He is aided by sexy toxic Poison Ivy. Batman and his newly found sidekick Robin set out to stop the plot. The gadgets and weapons are cool and George Clooney does a pretty good Batman. It is truly underrated. You just have to see it!

Summary: Not just a bad Batman movie -- one of the worst movies ever
Review: I cannot fathom what ANYBODY was thinking when this movie was made. First, they carried over the worst parts of "Batman Forever" (awful lighting, bat-nipples, a 30-year-old Robin in Chris O'Donnell). Then, to make matters worse, they made the colors even MORE garish, completely miscast Arnold Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze AND Alicia Silverstone as Batgirl. They twisted around Batgirl's storyline from being Commissioner Gordon's daughter to Alfred's niece in a pointless attempt to inject some semblance of "family" into the movie. They took one of the best Batman villains of recent years, Bane, and made him a monosyllabic goon without two brain cells to rattle against each other in his empty skull -- this is a character who was smart enough to deduce Batman's secret identity, for Heaven's sake.

The point of no return? The Bat-Credit Card.

Look, I'm not one of those rabid fans that complains when a movie takes liberties with a comic book to make it fit the big screen better. I was fine with the organic webshooters in "Spider-Man," I had no problem with the de-aging of Rogue and Iceman for the "X-Men" movies... but the changes made in this installment of the "Batman" franchise were not only arbitrary, but BAD, and I just can't forgive that. The nicest thing I can say about this movie is that, even though Clooney has publicly accepted responsibility for it, he was actually pretty good considering what he had to work with. Give us a decent director and a decent screenwriter next time out, Warner Bros, and maybe we'll stop harping on how lousy this one was.

Summary: Batman Lite
Review: This piece of excrement that calls itself a Batman film should have never seen the light of day. After "Forever" WB should have canned Joel Shumacher and got Tim Burton back. You could basicly see this coming by how campy "Forever" was. All of the characters were so poorly portrayed, it was like the Brady Bunch were wearing Batman, Robin, and Batgirl's costumes meaning these were not the same characters in the comics. They were different people. I don't blame the actors but the director and the writers. In my opinion, they should have hired Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, the geniouses behind the animated Batman. If you want a good Batman story that involves Batman, Robin, Batgirl, and Mr. Freeze, I recommend "SubZero". I also recommend "Mask of the Phantasm" which is the best of all the Batman films. If you haven't seen this movie, you are lucky and I envy you.

Summary: Beyond bad, one of the worst comic adaptations of all time
Review: After the so-so Batman Forever, director Joel Schumacher returned to helm this fourth installment in the Batman series. Val Kilmer was wise and chose not to play the caped crusader this time around, hence George Clooney now donning the cape and cowl. Chris O'Donnell returns as Robin, while Alicia Silverstone is introduced here as Batgirl. The three face off against Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman), and by the time the film gets that far at establishing all the players you'll be wanting to turn this movie off. The acting is hideously campy, the set designs are so overly lavish that they grate on the nerves, and the computer generated effects are beyond phony. Clooney is no Batman, plain and simple. Michael Keaton was the best Batman of the Batman feature film series, while Val Kilmer was half decent. Good 'ol Arnie is beyond wasted as Mr. Freeze; had another director, Tim Burton most likely, made the film, Arnie's acting talents would have been put to work correctly. While Batman & Robin does have a few good ideas here and there (the introduction of Bane, some nice costume designs), this is the absolute pinnacle of big budget studios milking a good thing dry.

Summary: Mr Freeze & Poison Ivy steal the show....
Review: This highly maligned film by Bat-geeks & film critics alike is not the bomb they would have you believe. For sure, the story would have been better had Mr Schumacher left some of it on the cutting room floor...like the entire Batgirl story line. Alica Silverstone was badly cast in this role. Also, George Clooney made for a terribly stiff Batman/Bruce Wayne. Chris O'Donnell did his best to hold up his end of the dynamic duo.

As far as the villians go, Arnold was great as Dr Victor Fries. Although his lines were over the top, you gotta love his style! Moving on to Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy, just her entrance at the Gotham City Ball is worth the price of admission. Hey, I even liked Bane.

All in all, this movie was nearly a rerun of Batman Forever. There are alot of similarities in pacing, story telling, etc. It's not a great film, but it's very entertaining. The effects are fun and Alfred lives to tell another tale!

It will be interesting to see how Chris Nolan's new Batman movie with Christian Bale as Batman is received. As of this writing, rumors abound that the new film could have at least two villians in it, Scarecrow and Ra's Al Ghul. If Ra's is there, can Talia be far behind? "Batman & Robin" suffered from too many characters, maybe Mr Nolan will handle multiple storylines better than Mr Schumacher did. The pressure is on Warner Brothers to re-ignite the Batman franchise. Time will tell the tale of the Dark Knight on film.

Summary: Plain Bad
Review: In short, this movie has a very bad script (if you can call it a script) and terrible acting. This is the worst Batman movie there is and one worse can never be made. If you buy the DVD, you will regret it.
