Summary: Great for kids, lacking for adults
Review: For children, this movie is probably the best of the four. For adults, it's mostly a rehash of the other films and lacks the true spirit of Superman. The first film is a bit slow for kids; the second was a bit too violent for younger children, and the third one seems to be over many people's heads with a below average script. The fourth one lacks the grandness of what SUPERman needs to be. The acting is believeable (except NuclearMan. All he mostly says is, "AAAAHHHHHHRRRRR.") And I have to admit, the longer version on television is a bit better. It has potential to be a great movie, but settles for ho hum. It doesn't lack good ideas, it just doesn't follow through with them. (As usual, it's about money. Executives rather save money in the short run than to let full expressions of an artist show--which would probably make more money in the long run.) The audience isn't stupid. A great product makes money; a bad one leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Overall, I enjoyed the movie for what it is--as ho hum. Nowhere near the grandness of the first movie (or the second--though there's holes in that one too.) As a sequel, it's fair and gets two stars. For a movie for the kids, I give it five.

Summary: Superman 4 was not very good
Review: What in the world were they thinking when they wrote this script???I'm glad that Christopher Reeve came back as Superman and I'm glad that Gene Hackman returns as Lex Luthor but bassicaly they could have made this movie a bit more serious. For all you Superman fans out there this is definatley a movie that you'll have to laugh at because of its storyline.

Summary: this movie desrvses another chance
Review: I say Superman IV need another chance because most of the plot was cut from this movie. So give it another chance.

Summary: Pretty good for 'superman' fans
Review: Yes,you guessed it!I have this in my video collection too. Although it is pretty weak in its plot, this entry in the Reeve series has two good points. [1] "Superman's" mission to rid Earth of all nuclear weapons, and [2] Gene Hackman's return as "Lex Luthor"

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Nuclearman is better
Review: In this Superman film, Superman is a skiny little guy which would have never in real life been able to out fight Nuclearman because Nuclearman was twice as strong and much more toughier, but since Superman is the star he had to win, but I really like it when Nuclearman slammed Superman into the ground on the moon.

Summary: Not the worst Superman film, but not the best either.
Review: Thankfully the humour (if you can call it that) of Part 3 has been abandoned as Superman takes on Nuclearman, an embodiment of war and destruction. Christopher Reeve is on top form as both Superman and Kent and Gene Hackman returns as Lex Luthor at his villainous best.

A pity then that the film itself is so bad. It has its moments, but they don't hide the glaringly obvious fact that this film has jumped onto the bandwagon of 'save the world' merchandising, the theme quite obviously nothing but a gimmick used to help the movie sell, the messages about world peace coming across as cheesy and heavy-handed. Lex Luthor's nephew is just plain irritating and the scenes in which Superman flies with Lois are seen-it-all-before fare.

Worth seeing if you're a fan of these films, but just don't expect anything radically new or ground-breaking. Of course, it's certainly way above most of the rubbish which seems to pass for superhero films in the crowd-pleasing-dross era we're currently suffering.

Summary: Not as bad as they (who are they) say.
Review: I know most of you do not like this movie ,I can not change that,I just turned 10 I have watched this movie at least 4 times all my friends Zev, Andrew ,Vik , and Billy love this movie and is it not us the children, who this movie was made for ?Sure discount it for your so called "cheesy" special effects but the kids really do not care .This movie has a comic book storyline a good one to be exact, and Christopher Reeve , Margot Kidder, Mark Pillow, Jon Cryer and Gene Hackman are a great cast , although you may not think my opinion counts I hope it does to some of you...

Summary: Super-Disappointment
Review: Let's face it: while it was great seeing Chris Reeve as Superman, Margot Kidder as Lois Lane, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor, et. al. once again, nothing they did could save this movie from its awful production standards, crummy dialogue and disjointed plot. The subplot of Superman ridding the world of nuclear bombs was terrific, but it was downhill after that. Plus the movie isn't original: the sequences between Clark and Lois essentially are a repeat from "Superman I"; Luthor's super-villian is reminiscent of the Phantom Zone escapees from "Superman II". The definitely cheesy special effects make this a sad farewell to Chris Reeve as The Man of Steel. One thing, though: there is an incredible flying & landing sequence near the end, where Superman speaks to the Press near the U.N. This is one of the few special effects that make it look like Superman is really doing his thing!

Summary: I thought this was the second best Supe film. (Superman II)
Review: I don't know why everyone says that this movie sucked. Next to Superman II, this was the best Supe film. The special effects could've been better but, Chris Reeve and Gene Hackman were GREAT!!!
