Summary: Not as bad as the critics say
Review: I looked in the newspapers when this came out and out of about ten reviews I saw, two gave it an average mark, one of those giving it a pretty good mark, four out of five stars. I think though the newspapers have got it all wrong, this movie is ok, there is a lot of action and the plot is fine, nothing special but far from bad. George Lucas made this movie so you would look at Darth Vader in the 'classic' trilogy and say 'he isn't really so bad after all.' He made this movie so you could see what Anakin was like before the Dark Side of the Force swallowed him. The movie achieves this and is a lot of fun to watch as well, so in my view this is a good film.

Summary: The Movie Rocked , Give Lucas a Break!
Review: Sorry, people but open your eyes, a lot of Non- "Star Wars" nerds loved this movie. As a teenage movie watcher and star wars FAN (not NERD), I can say that this movie appealed to lots and lots of teenagers, who in my opinion were the most important target audience of this movie becuase the Star Wars audience needs to be replenished with new fans to help make the next pre-quels successful.

The movie was awesome, Lucas continued to take his imagination to the limit by creating dazzeling CGI characters (Jar Jar too, hes not that annoying so quit talking about him and get used to him), once the next two movies are out and we are able to see the entire saga all the way thru in order, we will appreciate them more.

And whats all this moaning and complaining about how "Lucas ruined the Star Wars Movies","Lucas Wake Up! ( cause there is no DVD)" and so much other stuff that is so disrespectiful and ungrateful. Star Wars is property of George Lucas' Imagination, he can take the story where ever he wants it to go! Our only role in Star Wars is to sit back and enjoy the ride.

Lucas Spent YEARS, HOURS AND HOURS EVERY DAY to make these films for our enjoyment and what do you do? Say they are worth a cent and make it seem like he owes us something? NO,IF ANYTHING WE OWE HIM A LOT MORE THAN HE OWES US! (IF HE OWES US ANYTHING IN THE FIRST PLACE, I THINK HE DOESN'T, HES GIVEN US TOO MUCH)

Summary: STAR WARS NEEDS TO ENTER THE 21ST CENTURY
Review: I think the movie was good, I did notice the acting was bad in parts, and it was very slow for about the first hour. I was used to the old Star Wars where it was almost not stop action from the opening credits till the end of the movie. I will say this though. The first trilogy was filled with action because it was about the war between the empire and the rebbels, and now we are seeing the earlier story before the war had started. The special effects were outstanding I think George was snubed at the Oscars. But about the title of this post... I can't beleive that we will have to wait to see this on DVD. I think that for a Director like George Lucas who created THX and wants his movies to look the best that they can, would have released Star Wars on DVD sooner. But I guess it is all about money. I thought the video and audio quality on VHS was very poor.

Summary: A let down
Review: Liked it only because I took my seven year to see it, and he loved. No where nearly as endearing and heart warming as the originals. No character development, overly complex plot, many SFX looked they were made on a Video Toaster. Too much backgound action, all marching in unison. Like to put a bullet in Jar-Jar and that old Southern stereotype Negro/TV Asian dialect they made him use. Hopefully Episode 2 will improve.

Summary: just because you don't understand the work of the genius...
Review: Simply put Lucas is a genius. As great as the saga Starwars was the Empire Strikes Back was not only a better story and a better movie but enhanced Starwars itself. The first of three is brillant and opens the door for and amazing following. Enjoy the work of the genius they call Lucas!

Summary: You will notice...
Review: ...that the officer in charge (or whatever) of the enemy droid army sounds exactly like Sergeant Friday on Dragnet. I was waiting for him to meet Queen Amidala in person and say "Just the facts, ma'am". Seriously, note the number of stars I gave this movie above. It means it's worth watching, period. You have to hate sci-fi to disagree with that. It was overhyped. So what. Every naysayer this side of the Galaxy Far Away thinks it's an abomination. So freakin' what. Myself, I had this wierd solution to both dilemmas. I watched it and made my own decision.

Summary: Shame on you, Lucas
Review: No DVD version and I didn't even like the movie nearly as much as its sequels. It was too bland, the story was dumb. In 4-6 you at least had the impression that a great story was being told. This movie lacks the atmosphere and the feeling of the other three. And even the actors didn't seem to feel "at home" in this movie...

Summary: LBX (Widescreen) is a must!
Review: If you have a small screen TV (i.e. 20" or less) then don't purchase the widescreen...It's too small. Otherwise, get all of the Star Wars movies in LBX (Widescreen). From my experience, as an example: The Empire Strikes Back, in my opinion, was the least exciting visually. The movie seemed to crawl along, because so little was being done on screen. Hence, making it my least favorite of the 3.

I then purchased the LBX version of this movie. I forgot that there was more action going on. (I saw the movie in theaters the first time around). There is a lot more action happening on the sides, the ones that were cut in the "made for your TV", "pan-and-scan" version. This renewed action enhanced the movie visually, giving it more "spice". I liked the movie a lot better. I used to just skip ESB and go directly to RoTJ. Now I watch all 3. The dialog is great ESB, but visually lacking in the "pan-n-scan" release.

Now I can enjoy the movie as it was intended to be watched...just like I did in the theaters. Special Edition of ESB made it a sweet film.

Summary: Good movie... not great, but still good.
Review: I liked the movie. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge Star Wars fan... I seriously liked the movie. The only reason why so many people didn't like it was because everyone was expecting such a great movie and the movie just turned out to be good.

Oh, and another thing. Everyone is complaining about George Lucas not releasing it on DVD... Well he said in an interview that he was planning something special for DVD. So, wait a while and see what he has planned.
