Review: "If adventure has a name..... it must be Indiana Jones!" My favorite movies are finally on DVD!!!!! These have been restored to have a VERY GOOD picture. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK: This movie is probably my favorite of all three Indy films. In this one, Indy goes after the Ark of the Covenant in a race against the Nazis. In this one, my favorite scene is the Desert Chase. There was one little flaw, though.... I heard that when you touch the Ark, you instantly die... oh well.... INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM: The dark chapter of the Indiana Jones series, Indy goes after the mystical Sankara stones, and must save hundreds of children from the evil Thuggee cult. The "most crystallizing moment" is the Rope Bridge scene where Indy cuts the bridge. That's AWESOME! INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE: In this one, Indy's back against the Nazis, and going after the Holy Grail. But he's not alone, this time he gets his dad, played by Sean Connery. My favorite scene in this one is the Tank Duel. These are all great movies, and I highly recommend them.

Review: WOW! George and Steven are two film making powerhouses. When they merge, they bring together one phenomenal trilogy.
The first and best installment in the Indiana Jones series is Raiders of the Lost Arc. Ford really made an icon out of the action hero. The action was wonderful. The plot was very very good, and the acting was great. It is one of the greatest films of all time. A definate five star film
The second and probably least impressive of the three is the Temple of Doom. Too bad Marion, couldn't have been the Jones girl in this film, but Kate Capshaw played a really good role. The effects were not as impressive as the first, and the plot was a little harder to believe, but it ultimately wasn't dissappointing. 3 Stars.
The Last Crusade is the third installment into the trilogy. It was definately better than the sequel, but still didn't equal up to the first installment. Sean Connery was wonderful, who better play Ford's dad. The effects were better. And what better than to bring the Holy Grail into the trilogy. Four stars.

Review: The box set of this epic trilogy reveals all about this franchise and I must say it is very good. As with all true fans, The Temple of Doom is correctly treated as the first story, them Raiders and then The Last Crusade. the forth disc is full of information and with the Young Indie chronicals and the future 2006 movie, the adventures for Indiana Jones will thill.

Review: Saturday-morning serials were, on the whole, awful. Cheaply made, with numbingly unimaginative and repetitive plots, they were filler that encouraged weekly movie attendance. A 15-part "thriller" could be cranked out for $100K to $250K (the total running time was rarely more than 90 minutes), so it easily returned its investment. The worst thing about them was that, as "cliffhangers," very little actually hung over the cliff. The near-fatal situation the hero found himself in at the end of each episode was revealed at the beginning of the next to be not particularly threatening, as he (or she -- think of Pearl White) had gotten out of the way _before_ the explosion, gun shot, rock fall, car crash, etc, etc. In one Buster Crabbe serial there's no way he can _possibly_ escape death -- and, indeed, the opening of the next episode is a complete reshoot that allows him an escape! Yet the kids never seemed to learn, and came back week after week. The two Superman serials -- why hasn't Warners reissued them on DVD? -- are well-above-average in this respect, as Supes could save the victim from just about any danger. Not to mention getting into a few tight spots himself. "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was the Saturday-morning cliffhanger serial millions of kids deserved, but never got. It's the epitome of this genre, and is unlikely ever to be exceeded, let alone equalled. It delivers the real thrills those cheap serials didn't, and remains a hoot, especially when the Nazis get what they so richly deserve at the end. Opinions on the sequels vary. "Temple of Doom" is a terrific adventure film, but many viewers objected to its dark tone (which was Spielberg's and Lucas's intent -- they didn't want to repeat the first film). Its real problem isn't the violence (it's no more violent than "Raiders," which initially received an R rating for Belloc's head explosion), but its lack of any dramatic substance. It's 95% action -- there's little personal interaction or conflict. (Classic-serial fans will note that most of the "gags" are taken from a Republic serial, "Manhunt of Mystery Island." Which is one of the serials trashed in Firesign Theater's "Hot Shorts." It, too, deserves a DVD issue.) Anyone who doesn't enjoy "The Last Crusade" is nuts, because we have the great fun of seeing Sean Connery as Indy's father. Connery is that rare combination of a really good actor _and_ a legitimate "movie star," who steals every scene he's in. "Crusade" lacks the startling novelty of "Raiders," but it's the best-plotted of the three films, tightly connecting the Grail search with Indy's and his father's lives. The transfers are wonderful, especially "Raiders," which has never looked so vivid and rich. Spielberg and Lucas haven't altered the films, not even changing the title card of the first (which now "officially" has the "Indiana Jones and the..." prefix). Nor, alas, have the special effects been redone. You can still see the matte/Rotoscope lines, which are especially noticeable in the "supernatural" effects at the end of "Raiders." Considering the extensive (and sometimes unwelcome) changes Spielberg made to "E. T.", this is surprising. The Indiana Jones movies are three wonderful excuses for fattening yourself on popcorn. The real stuff, not microwave.

Review: Indiana Jones, (Harrison Ford), is one of the greatest charecters ever put on film. These movies rank as amoungst the very best action films ever. "Raiders of the lost ark", tells the story of an archeologist, Indiana Jones, who is given the task of finding the lost ark of the covenant. This biblical artifact, is said to contain great power so Hitler and his cohorts are keen on obtaining it. This movie hardly ever lets up as far as excitement and action go and the acting and story are first-rate. I wish I could say the same for the sequal, "Indiana Jones and the temple of doom", there is one main reason this film is much maligned: Kate Capshaw. Her performance in this film as the leading lady is appalling. Her constant high-pitched screaming and hysterics really do take the enjoyement out of it. The story itself is interesting, Indiana goes to India to discover the a lost sacred stone in order to save a local village. It's a noble and dangerous quest which takes him into the very heart of evil as he encounters a dangeous Kali worshipping cult. This film is not for children either as there are some disturbing scenes of human sacrifice. I only wish they put out a director's cut and took out Kate Capshaw! Finally, "Indiana Jones and the last crusade" is the last film in the trilogy and it's an action packed ride. In this one, Indiana is searching for the Holy Grail, the cup that Jesus of Nazereth used for the last supper. The cup is said to contain the secret of eternal life to whomever finds it. Once again, Indiana comes up against the Nazi's and the film goes alone at a breathtaking pace. The film also sees the welcome return of Marcus Brody, (Denholm Elliot) and John-Rys Davis, (Salah) and Sean Connery as Indiana's father provides a great deal of entertainment and amusement. The late River Phoenix also puts in a good performance as a young Indiana Jones, we also learn where he got his hat, chin scar and bull-whip!! All in all, a great box-set to own, the films have never looked or sounded better and really benefit from the dvd technology. I hope Spielberg and co. get a decent script together for the new Indiana Jones film before Harrison Ford gets too old! If not, Brandon Fraser could step in for him, "The Mummy", was a very Indiana Jones type film. Thanks for reading and enjoy these films.

Summary: I usually just RENT DVDs...
Review: Not in the case of this trilogy! I had to have the highly anticipated release of the Indiana Jones box set. Raiders of the Lost Ark is arguably the greatest action/adventure film ever made. The second film in the series (Temple of Doom) was extremely weak in my opinion, and didn't live up to it's groundbreaking original. However, the magic of the first film was recaptured for Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, which was almost as good as Raiders. As for the DVD box set, it features loads of extras on a 4th disk that boasts documentaries on the making of the trilogy, and the sound/stunts/magic behind the films. All in all, I am VERY happy with this box set given it's fairly cheap price. Not since the Alien and Godfather sets were released has there been such a feature packed product accompanied by 3 amazing films. If you are a fan of the series....you owe it to yourselves to add the Jones box set to your collection.

Review: What is this movie but a bunch of elves, dwarfs and fairys running around and killing each other over a wedding ring? It's all bad acting from the word go, and the music can't hype up what the story lacks. I have a theory on why people love these movies; they feel that because the directors and actors and writers try so hard to make an "Epic Saga of Biblical Proportions," that they (the movie-goers), must give the film makers positive reviews just for the effort. I am different. I will not give good reviews to a movie just because it's ten billion hours long. Good is good, fairyish is fairyish and my time is too important, as is yours, to be wasted on this midevil drivle. And now I will cast a spell. I call it the "I'm to influenced by movie advertising and special effects to think for myself spell." See, it's already working. Now go out and see the whole trilogy, fairy.

Summary: I love these movies!
Review: I can never say how grateful I am that Spielberg and Lucas have finally released their greatest movies in their careers onto DVD on one box set. These three movies are among my favorite movies of all time and that awful gritty VHS editions I've owned over the years were a real pain in the neck especially as the tapes would wreck easily. Even in more recent times, I've had to replace "Temple of Doom" with a new VHS copy because I've watched it countless times. Thankfully, those tape-replacing days are now over as these three movies are now on DVD and let me tell you, WOW!! The audio quality is amazing!! The movie pictures are a lot clearer and with these improvements, it now almost feels like one is back in the theatres with the 5.1 digital sound quality! Unlike a majority of audiences who disliked it unfairly, "The Temple Of Doom" is my favorite of the three. I don't understand the banter behind labeling it as racist and 'too dark'. Give me a break! This movie is a lot darker than "Raiders" is but it was a very smart move and the change in tone made for the greatest adventure I've ever seen in a movie. The bonus disc isn't a whole lot to write home about. I felt that it was relatively thrown together at the last minute and one particular scene from the beginning of the old VHS tape of "Last Crusade" was left out. For what the bonus disc is, it is really a great DVD but I expected more out of it. Despite the problems with the bonus disc, this is the greatest box set taht has ever been created and I highly recommend that you buy it as soon as possible! You will not be dissapointed. For someone who has waited for years for these movies to be released on DVD, this is a HUGE blessing in my part.

Review: . . .is in the widescreen format. The full screen just cuts out too much of the flavor of the films. Great set with beautiful versions of each film and good sound. The extra disks is terrific, too.

Summary: Indy is a Must Buy!
Review: The first time I saw an Indy movie was in 3rd grade. It was pajama day and one of the kids brought in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". I loved it, and realized my dad had bought it a while ago but never opened it. "Raiders" was truly a classic. A couple weeks ago, I saw "The Last Crusade" at the library. It had my favorite star, Sean Connery. I like him for his performance as 007. Mom begged me to buy the Bonus disc. So I said, "There's gonna be stuff on all three. So I'll need to see 'Temple of Doom'." She agreed. I watched "Crusade" first. I loved it. Then I watched "Temple" and loved it even more. I never bought "Temple" and "Crusade" but my birthday's coming up. Adiós!
