Summary: Give Dalton a break
Review: "Licence to Kill" while not based on an actuall Ian Fleming book, is closer in spirit than any Bond movie in a long time. James Bond (Timothy Dalton) gose on a personal vendetta against a drug lord who nearly kills his buddy Felix Lighter. Bond acts more on emotion (specificly rage) and gose rouge away from MI6. His allies are a DEA agent (pre-'Law and Order' Corey Lowell) and the bad guys girl (Talisa Soto), and (a welcome addition) Q (Desmond Llewelyn). The bas guys include Robert Davi as a Noriaga like drug lord, one of the best villians in to this point in years, Binrico Del Toro (long before he got famous), and Wayne Newton (huh?). Timothy Dalton gets a lot of crap about being the worst Bond ever, I disagree; I think he did a good job. His Bond was younger, colder, and much more dangorous that Roger Moore ever was. I don't know what people's problem was with him. I wish he could have done more Bond movies. 'Licence' was much more violent and meaner in tone than other Bonds, and I liked that to, it is more in keeping with the books.

Summary: the REAL Bond to the rescue......woah!!!
Review: I finally am able to say that i have completed watching every James Bond 007 movie by watching this one the other week. Why did it took that long? ...well for some reason i thought T.Dalton did only one Bond movie when in fact, he did two. This is the 2nd one he did and i have only one word to express it after i seen it: ....woOoaahhhhhh!!!!!

That great white shark was scary eh? It doesn't look plastic like those allegators or snakes in the 'Live or Let Die' movie.
As far as the 007 character agent goes, if i had to pick one to do a 'real' spy job, it would be Timothy Dalton because he takes his job seriously with a no nonsense approach. Is he entertaining to watch compare to the other Bonds? NO WAY!!! Maybe movie viewers expect 007 to be entertaining but Roger Moore had gone overboard by making a mockery with the 007 character which is a disgrace...because he doesn't seem too bright with spy work and is more of a womanizer who looks forwards to making funny remarks as the situation presents itself.

Anyways, the script for this movie is very good and a joy to watch. I will not give the plot away so enjoy. For James Bond diehards, it definitely belong in your Bond's collection as a keeper.

Have a good Sunday!

Summary: License Suspended
Review: This has to be one of the worst, if not the worst, film in the bond series. Although Dalton never seemed to fit into the Bond role, the fault in this film is entirely with the script and the director. With this film it seems as if the Bond franchise finally ran out of stories to write. Although the story of revenge against a fellow agent's murderer is good, the antagonist being a drug lord just drags the movie down. Moore's "Live and Let Die" was a similar problem. The villains in those movies just don't seem to be on the level of SPECTER and Blofeld, a Stromberg, Goldfinger, or Drax; they are, after all, just drug dealers.

I saw this film only once and don't regret not having seen it again. An alltogether very forgettable movie that isn't even worth renting.

Summary: flawed, but at least dalton was original
Review: dalton came closer to fleming's bond than even connery did. the fleming bond was never extremely likeable and had little sense of humour.okay, brosnan does fill the shoes of the post connery bonds well enough. he's slick but unoriginal. he's a decent second take on connery and his bond is simply another variation on sean's. but, dalton did it differently and it took guts. his is a completely different bond and an interesting one. unfortuantely this film, which claimed to be a new cutting edge bond has three huge flaws.first; the rush through sloppy editing over the first fifteen minutes. second; if bond is going solo then why did q come in at all? this was a cop out. lastly; leiter is bit too ' way to go james. good luck on the next mission' for a guy who lost a leg to a shark and whose wife was raped and killed.
anyway, worth checking it out.

Summary: Poor Bond Character Sinks whole Film
Review: Timothy Dalton is one of those guys that plays a good Bond. Not as good as Connery and Pierce, but he does the best he can with scripts like this.
The whole beginning wasn't bad. I hated that Felix was the one being hurt. Then, 007 goes haywire. Let us remind the writers that Bond has some humor to it. I found maybe 1 or 2 punchlines, and Dalton wasn't allowed to deliver them like Bond.
Towards the middle, I was about to turn the set off. Bond is not a truely violent person. There was nothing original about Bond's character.
The end of the movie with the semi though did bring some interest back. But all in all, this Bond is a real flop.
John Glen made me think I was watching a different spy series. I was ashamed of 007 in this film. It just proves, that what Bond really was died when Roger Moore left. If Pierce Brosnan hadn't come along, 007 would be gone. If your going to make a Bond film, do it write! LET DALTON DO THE ACTING!!! This film was definatley the worst Bond I've seen yet. It's not Dalton's fault. Although, it is funny how he can go from reading Shakespeare, to carrying the Walther PPK with 007 to go with it. But, we'll never know if Dalton could've been the next Connery, because he was givin' this script and director.

Summary: You won't like him when he's angry
Review: One of the more darker Bond films, this one delivered many spills and thrills to me. The chemistry this film had enough to be number one, but it is highly underrated.
After saving the world from World War III in 1987's The Living Daylights, Bond needed a break. I don't blame him. After saving the world from global disaster in 1979's Moonraker, he needed his break in 1981's For Your Eyes Only.
In this alternate version of Scarface meets The Man with the Golden Gun, James Bond (Timothy Dalton) wages a one man war against a ruthless druglord, Franz Sanchez (Robert Davi). The girls are steaming hot, the action is a little bit less deadly from what we saw on The Living Daylights. Of course, the action in the finale is nowhere to be found anymore now Bronsan became Bond.
I personally consider Timothy Dalton to be the closest to recreating the Bond that Connery invented. Roger Moore was too happy-go-lucky, Pierce Bronsan is a mix between a happy Moore and a timid Connery. In this adventure, Dalton taps into his darker, grittier edge. I just wish Dalton would have continued being Bond. Dalton will remain my favorite James Bond after Sean Connery of course.

Summary: TIMOTHY DALTON IS NOT JAMES BOND!
Review: This guy just does not work for this part! He makes a movie that could be sort of good into a absolutely terrible film.I am glad he only lasted for 2 movies before the next bond came along.

Summary: Dalton is at his best and his worst!
Review: Licence to Kill is a great movie. Timothy Dalton did a superb job in his interpritation of bond. The action is good, the ladies are pretty good, just a few things hurt this movie. One, james bond has always been a fantasy movie with maniacs tryin to take over the world or something to that affect, but in this one he's wants revenge. Now thats all good, if only the people who he wanted revenge on were NOT drug dealers. That was kinnda stupied tryin to make it more real, but it did show how ruthless bond can be if you push him to it, and how horrible the drug kindpins were back then so well done. I think this is how Diamonds Are Forever should have been done in finding blofeld, rather then the way they did it in that film. Other than that great movie, and a must have.
