Summary: Enjoyable sequel!
Review: A sequel to the instant 1989 classic masterpiece " Batman", Tim Burton and his team made this 1992 blockbuster sequel into a winner. Batman ( Michael Keaton) who had fought The Joker in the original has now two enemies this time, the sexy "Catwoman" ( Michelle Pfeifer) and the hideous " Penguin" ( Danny Devito) including corporate owner "Max Shreck" ( Christopher Walken). A well made sequel with action, suspense, atmosphere, good Danny Elfman score and Michelle Pfeifer is definitely a knockout as the black leather beauty in which Halle Berry will take over the role as the feline sexpot in this summer's "Catwoman".

Summary: Best of the Batman Film Series
Review: Let's face it, once Michael Keaton and Tim Burton parted the Batman films were horrible. Keaton may not have made the best superhero but he was better than Val Kilmer and George Clooney who both struggled to fill Keaton's shoes. Batman Returns is a very entertaining sequel. I bought the drinking cups, the poster, everything. It was a major event back in 1992. It is one film that will be around and one no one should miss whether they are a fan of Batman or not.

Summary: Gotham is darker than before.
Review: On seeing the second installment in the Batman trilogy, I immediately though it wasn't going to be that good. I think it is one of the best film sequels of all time. The main character didn't change, the characters were richer and more evil, and the acting got even better. Tim Burton really hyped up the gothic in this film. This film was more serious and hair raising. It lacked the exitement the first had, but it is still better than the third and fourth installments. I applaud Michelle P. for her portrayal of Selina Kyle (AKA Catwoman.) she couldn't have been better. Two thumbs up. See this film.

Review: If you like Batman then you must watch this.All of the characters are very interesting especially The Penguin.Of all the Tim Burton movies Ive seen this one remains my absolute favorite.Michelle Pfeiffer is the visually stunning Catwoman who has plenty of attitude and some severe emotional problems.Theres plenty of drama in this movie especially towards the end.The Penguin and Catwoman seem to get all the really good lines but I still love Christopher Walken as the delightfully creepy Max Shreck and also Michael Keaton as Batman.Out of all the Batman movies this one is the darkest and most dramatic and in my opinion the most entertaining even though the first was one of the best movies of the 80s.You should definitely see this.

Summary: Nearly as good as the original.
Review: Though not as successful as its 1989 predecessor, "Batman Returns" comes close. Even darker than the original, director Burton packs a more engaging storyline into this sequel. Abandonded at childbirth, the horribly-deformed Penguin (Danny DeVito) plots against Gotham City with crooked buinessman Max Shreck (Christopher Walken in a brilliant role). Batman (Michael Keaton) seems to have met his match, as he's also up against the vicious Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer).
Though Keaton's role was every bit as good as his first outing, the star of this film really is Danny DeVito. He plays the Penguin so well that the audience almost feels sorry for his character. Walken and Pfeiffer deliver excellent performances as well. Burton's flair for visual eye-candy is present here; he engages gloomy production design and jaw-dropping special effects.
As with the first film, the Batman character--and his entire world--is intelligently portrayed. The only reason "Batman Returns" isn't on par with the original is, well, it doesn't have Jack Nicholson.

Summary: It Might Be Visually Stunning, But.....
Review: "Batman Returns" has plenty of atmosphere about it. There's no denying that. However, this sequel pales in comparison to its predecessor. The scenery is dark and moody, but the character of the "Penguin" is just atrocious. How did a rich, greedy, power-hungry villain in the comics become a mutated, flipper-handed freak? Keaton does a fine job as the "Dark Knight," but his performance isn't enough to save this divebomb. Michelle Pfeiffer is good as the "Catwoman," but her squabble with Max Shreck(Christopher Walken) was weightless in this movie. Her story seems too rushed in order to cram "Batman's" struggles with her and "Penguin" in an acceptable movie time length. The special effects are okay, but the heavily armed penguins are just silly looking. "Batman" has a couple of new toys, but his "Batboat," much like the "Batwing" in the first flick, makes a quick entrance and exit. It's obvious that Tim Burton was given a lot more creative freedom on this project. That's too bad, because he takes too many liberties with the characters involved on this project. The whole film has this "Edward Scissorhands" feel in it. I usually enjoy Burton's projects, but this one goes too far with its brooding yet goofy atmosphere. In this movie we are introduced to the idea that all of "Batman's" villains have to team up in order to beat him. This one has three: "Penguin," "Catwoman," and "Max Shreck." Although "Catwoman" is only "sort of" a villain, the flick still has to spend time describing her origin. Following sequels have "Riddler" and "Two-Face" teaming up and "Poison Ivy" and "Mr. Freeze"(and an underused "Bane"). The result is a story crammed with the origins of all the villains, the introduction and explanation of allies("Robin" and "Batgirl")and a twisting, turning plot that falls into quick boredom. Sure, all of these sequels may be visually satisfying, but the stories are clunkers. Perhaps the next movie(if there ever is one) will return to the original idea of having one meanie take on "Batman." Give these villains credit, they can give "Batman" a time on their own. In closing, this is an okay picture. It is very atmospheric, but atmosphere and a nickel won't even buy you a cup of coffee anymore. "Batman Forever" is a slightly better movie. The tone of the film leans more toward the silly antics of the old TV show, but the brighter colors and lighter humor are a welcome change from "Batman Returns." Don't get me wrong, it's nowhere near the original, but it is a decent vision of the "Batman" comics. The action is better than in "Batman Returns," and Val Kilmer does a fine job filling Michael Keaton's shoes. He keeps the integrity of the character alive despite a lightweight story. The "Riddler" is a good villain(though not "Joker"), but "Two-Face" just doesn't belong. Don't even bother with "Batman & Robin." It takes the cheese-factor to an all-time low.

Hingle(Commissioner Gordon)for their roles.The new cast,which features Danny Devito(The Penguin),Michelle Pfieffer(Catwoman),and Christopher Walken(Max Shreck),are all perfect for their roles.My only complaint is the size of Gotham City,which is much too small and bears little resemblence to the city in its predecessor.Most of the outdoor scenes are centered around "Gotham Plaza",a tiny Rocafeller Center rip-off.But,you can't let a small flaw like that discourage you.So,buy this DvD and enjoy the great story,the wonderful acting,and the fantastic ending(Catwoman lives!!),which leaves you wanting more.Its just a shame none of its sequels fully deliver.

Summary: A culmination of all things Burton...
Review: The words that came to mind while watching this movie actually were "it looks like Tim Burton vomited on celluloid," but that's unfair to him, since Batman Returns is not a bad movie at all. However, those who are familiar with Burton's work (and who isn't?) will find elements of every single film of his here, including those he hadn't even made before its 1992 release. For example, both the Penguin and the evil corporate magnate Shreck have parts of Beetlejuice in their appearances, and the Penguin looks a lot like the Mayor of Halloweentown from Nightmare Before Christmas. There are circus freaks, scary baby carriages, touching moments in the snow, and of course, Danny Elfman's music. Throw in Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci somewhere and it would be a perfect cross-section of everything he has ever done. Although most of the focus of the movie is on the Penguin, I found Catwoman the most interesting character by far. Michelle Pfeiffer, with her natural beauty and throaty voice, is both sexy and convincing in this role, and I'm surprised that Burton never put her in any more of his movies. Danny DeVito's Penguin, though, is far too over the top, and his campy villlainy is too much even by comic book standards. Christopher Walken is always excellent. Batman is almost a minor character here, but Michael Keaton is likeable, if subdued. Burton really went to extremes when it came to effects and visuals, though, which hurts the plot in the long run. And yet Batman Returns is a better movie than I think many people give it credit for, especially compared to the later Batman films.

Summary: Batman: Returns, Awesome but dosent match "Batman"
Review: 1992 saw the release of the much anticipating "Batman: Returns" and it really is a mixed feeling movie. Its enjoyable but in the way it dosent match its predessor "Batman" it is very cool how it is all dark and got a creepy vibe and its storyline is OK but it just dosent really meet perfection. Penguin is absolutely disgusting and i really hate him and Catwoman is cool but in other words they are cool villians. Same "SPECIAL" featues as #1. This film is good and I reccomend you to see it but if u have to choose 1 out of the 2 "Batman" is the way to go.
