Summary: Light, enjoyable, scenic
Review: If you tend to compare Trek movies to one another, I suppose this one is rather fluffy compared to say, First Contact or Wrath of Khan. But by itself, it's enjoyable and lighthearted, and worth seeing even if you're NOT a die hard Trek fan. It has some nice romantic bits and scenery, and wonderful special effects.

Summary: Star Trek Filler
Review: The Star Trek franchise has been rather successful and Paramount has done a good job(overall)with the Next Generation films thus far. However, "Star Trek Insurrection"-DVD does not cut it.

1. The DVD format/screen layouts and features are boring and unimaginative.0 out of 1 star

2. The sound quality is average compared to other DVD's on the market. The DD format is fine ..but for a film like this -- DTS should have been used. The film transfer and visual quality top of the line 1 out of 2 stars

3. The story is a typical Trek film with some great scenes. I got the feeling this film was put out to make sure we held on for the next great Trek film after First Contact. Thank you world for DVD Rentals. 1 out of 2 Stars

Summary: Absolutley Stunning movie well deserves the DVD platform
Review: This film simply oozes effects, storyline, characters, humour and of course what Star Trek is all about. This is simply one of the best of them all and the most enjoyable. What can I say but go out and purchase it right away. It is a must for all DVD fans.

Summary: It's definitely not the best Star Trek
Review: As far as the Srar Trek goes, it is not the best. But it is definitely worth having on DVD. The sound and visual effects are very impressive. The battle scenes seemed to lack a climax, they leave you hanging. But I really enjoyed it non-the-less.

Summary: Not much point
Review: This movie really should have been an episode in a series rather than a full-length movie. The plot was ok I guess, but I expect Star Trek movies to be a bit more eventful. Who cares what happens to 600 people who have lived the perfect life for 300 years already? There's a war on! What is the flagship of the Federation doing futzing around with the beautiful people? The good Star Trek movies have involed monumental events such as wars with Klingons and the Borg, potential destruction of Earth by alien probes and the death/rebirth of a main character. The war with the Dominion gave the writers a perfect opportunity to continue this tradition, but instead all they could come up with was a lame attempt to milk just a few bucks more out of the die-hard fans ...

Sigh. I'm sure I'll buy it eventually anyway.

Summary: More like a TV script show...
Review: I called Star Trek Insurrection, the best of the of the odd numbered Trek films (this is number 9). The main weakness is the plot. Federation is fighting for survival against the Dominion and what is Picard doing with Starfleet's most powerful ship? None of the supporting cast such as Murphy or Abraham really stand out. Main weakness is that Picard himself violated the Prime Directive more times then you can count so his effort to pick and choose his motive is rather weak. While it is entertaining movie, I felt like I was watching an enlongated TV show. As Kirk would say, "Need of the many outweight the need of the few or the one". (or something like that)

Summary: it was well done
Review: I thought the movie was well done. It wasn't as dark as first contact. First contact was really good. but this one was better. It had more humor , romance, and so forth. I do have to admit thought the story needed a little bit more work to it. But I thought that the special effects were spectacular. And unlike most movies that have good special effects, it had a plot. imagine that.

Summary: Great for a date with a non-Trekker
Review: Insurrection was a great film for introducing your significant other to Star Trek. It included all of the on-going Trek plots, while adding a love story, which has never been "fully" explored. It also gave the viewer a glimpse behind the rigid exterior of Capt. Picard to see his more romantic side. This "lighter" plot gives the long devoted Trekkers the action and themes that they expect, while keeping away from having too many "inside jokes" which would prevent the casual viewer form enjoying the movie.

Summary: Quality transfer, forgetable movie
Review: Technically, this has one of the best DVD picture transfers I've yet to see, although the Dolby Surround soundtrack wasn't as punchy as it could have been.

The film is so dull. Even the battle sequence in the Briar Patch is dull (nothing compared to the excitement when the Enterprise crashed in Generations).

A better way to have ended the film would have been to have lots of federation ships fighting the Sona and to bring about what was hinted at - the fall of the Federation. That would have made a good ending.

What we're left with though, is the fall of Star Trek - the films just aren't daring and don't push any boundaries.
