Summary: Awesome
Review: Great! I'm glad I bought it... but I personally prefer the theatrical release. It was a lot tighter in terms of the structure and if I could only own one version - I'd go for the theatrical release.

But I'm sure I'm in the minority. If you can afford both - get both versions.

Review: Great, terrific! The extra material provided with this DVD set gives lots of facinating information about the making of the three movies.

Summary: This movie is the centerpiece to anyone's fantasy collection
Review: Growing up reading The Lord of the Rings a dozen times over, I never would have thought someone would finally release a movie that would do it justice (I had settled for watching Ralph Bakshi's version thinking that's all there would ever be). Then this gem comes along, and it is exactly the way I always pictured it in my mind. I see now why it took so long--because the film-making technology to perfectly capture what all of us loyal readers kept in our hearts couldn't be displayed on the big screen until now. God bless you Peter Jackson!

Summary: What?
Review: Ha! Ha! I love films with Mother Nature but this is a ridicoulus sequel to "Jonny Chinese"!
WHo is Frodo?
Frodo should run for Minime
My favourite part was when Dr. Paul
This film includes some excellent cameos by Paul P. Borg(a Maltese Phyiscs teacher], David P. Farrugia( a Maltese Chesitry teacher) and Stephen Hawking(a person who is so lazy that he sits on his wheelchair all day and does not even move... not even to watch porne!). my favorit part was when frodo and gandalf got married and defeated Suraman with their brotherly love! (bluddy pervet) This film includes the very famous "Let's make love on the kitc hen table" scene!

Summary: Lord of the Rings best movie of the year.
Review: Hands down, this is the best movie I have seen all year( and, as a film fantatic, I have seen most movies that have come out this year.) I had already read the books about three times, so this review is coming from the point of view of a L.O.T.R. fan. However, even if you usually don't love really like fantasy, I think you will like this movie. The great thing about it, in my opinion, was the way the movie balanced the dark parts of the movie( like Moria and the Black Riders) with uplifting or humerous bits. This stopped the movie from being heavy handed and over the top. The sceanery is amazing and very true to the book( especially good was the Shire and Rivendell). And something unusual in a fantasy movie, the carachters were well acter( yeah Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and Sean Astin) and the script was well written. The only annoying part was the increased part of Liv Tyler, this was not needed and took away from the movie.

Summary: 'LORD OF THE RINGS' Rules them all!
Review: Has the cycle been broken? With the release of 'The Fellowship of the Rings' the first film in the 'Lord of the Rings' Trilogy, it looks like Hollywood may finally have gotten it right. More specifically, Peter Jackson and Co. have created, not only a faithful screen adaptation to the most beloved epic fantasy of all time, but a sure fire contender for the 2002 Oscars, and an instant film classic.

Provided you've read Tolkien's classic 'Rings' books, then there's much to love about this film. Jackson's first-rate direction, the scenic backdrops of New Zealand, an incredible ensembile cast, and very powerful perfomances from all facets of the production recreate Middle-Earth in sweeping camera shots and intricately designed sets. And of course, there's enough computer-generated effects to pacify just about anybody.

Aside from all the glitzy Hollywood effects, etc. 'Lord of the Rings' is the movie that audiences, even those with discerning tastes in film have been waiting a long time for. All the action, adventure, romance, all the emotional depth of character, plot, and script will sooth the most savage of movie buff's soul. 'Rings' will no doubt become a cinematic treasure.

I can't wait for next year when 'The Two Towers' will be released. 'Rings' raises the prospects and standards that Hollywood has been failing to reach by recent accounts. This film is truly something very special. Even if you have haven't read the books, (which I would encourage anyone to do) 'Rings' is an entertaining holiday treat, wrapped in a history-making bow that audiences will be in absolute awe while unwrapping.
And I'll be a hobbit's right foot if 'Fellowship' isn't atleast nominated or doesn't take 'Best Picture'.

What more critical jargon can I dish out? YOU MUST SEE THIS FILM!

Summary: And an oscar to ... the Milford Sound
Review: Hate to break with you lot, but here's a little rant:

Lord of the Rings is essentially Conan the Barbarians meets Monty Python and the Holy Grail, only it's not funny. Intentionally, leastways. (I mean, how can you say "one ring to bind them, one ring to rule over them etc etc etc" with a straight face? Answer - They didn't! It was in a voiceover!)

Yes, yes, yes - it's gorgeous to look at - take a bow, New Zealand's South Island - but other than that it's simply a (po-faced) chaser, isn't it? - Three hours of the little cuddly dudes onthe run from the standard-issue Peter Jackson Ugly Monster(s). Ian McKellen reprises Alec Guinness' Ben Kenobi role (only with silly hat and a better beard!), the Hobbits live in what looks suspiciously like the set from The Teletubbies, and they get chased episodically across Tubbyland, down under a mountain (with some REMARKABLY manky CGI - I thought they had spliced in a few scenes from the animated version at one stage!) and across hills and dales (though to his credit Jackson managed - for maybe the first time in his career - to resist staging any of the film in the Karori cemetary) until, after three hours and an unseemly amount of carnage ....... (wait for it) ... THEY GET TO THE BORDER OF THE COUNTRY WHICH THEY'RE GOING TO!!!

Strap yourselves in, lads there's another six hours to sit through before they even get to where they're going! Strewth and cor lumme! At least there was a climax in each of the Star Wars films! And what about a wisecracking cheeky character? Where was Han Solo in this?

And could all the villains shoot straight? No! Did it occur to them that they weren't obliged to attack the good guys in single file one at a time? No!

I blame Tolkein for all of this.
