Summary: the best!
Review: This is the most exciting, on-the-edge-of-your-seat movie I have ever seen. I had to close my eyes several times in the movie because I had unknowing waited too long to blink. If you want a good movie, this is awesome. Watch it in the theatre before it comes out. You will NOT regret it.

Summary: A Wonderful Movie!!!
Review: This is the movie for you if you like fantasy and the world of 'knights', wizards, elves etc... The setting, actors, technical parts were superb. The hobbits, are the main characters in this movie. Hobbits are peace-loving 'little' people. It starts in the Shire where Frodo, the main character who is a hobbit lives. Frodo's father, Bilbo, stole a magic ring from Gollum (a frog-like creature). Bilbo then goes on a trip and leaves the ring to Frodo. Gandalf the wizard comes to warn Frodo, that the ring's maker, the evil Sauron wants it back and Frodo is in great danger. From here the real action of the movie starts as we see Frodo and his friends trying to get to Mount Doom to destroy the ring. An exciting and intriguing movie to watch. Things will get even better with 'Two Towers,' the sequel to "Lord of the Rings."

Summary: 30 min. that add so much
Review: This is the movie that I wanted to see last december when it came out in theaters. I have to admit, being an avid fan of the series, I was terribly disapointed in the characeter development (or lack there of) in the theatrical release of this film. Tolkiens world was much deeper then just action and a story. It was about people and not only their struggle to accomplish their mission, but their inner struggles as well. The bonus footage on this film completes this film. For one, It gives a more in depth description of hobbit life which I think is essential in the movie since in reality, the movie is about them. Boromirs and Aaragons characters are also deeper then they were before. We also get to see the much missed gift giving scene. Over all I thought the movie flowed better then the original release. And, even though it is 30 min. longer it doesn't seem it. This edition is not just for tolkein fans, it is for everyone.

Summary: THE ADVENTURE BEGINS...
Review: This is the one that started it all in the LOTR trilogy. Peter Jackson directs, while other great stars such as Elijah Wood & Ian McKellen hit the big silver screen! The story begins in the small community of The Shire, home to small, three foot beings (or "half-lings") called Hobbits. When uncle Bilbo Baggins' eleventy-first Birthday comes, the old Hobbit mysteriously disappears into thin air, thanks to the help of a small, mysterious ring which is unknown even to him. The Wizard, Gandalf the Grey comes riding into town and warns Bilbo that terrible things will happen unless the ring is destroyed! Worried about this matter, Bilbo decides to give the ring to his nephew, Frodo Baggins, though he still urges for its great power. Frodo agrees, and heads off where he meets a human, Aragorn, an elf, Legolas, and a dwarf, Gimli. Eventually, Gandalf meets up with them all as they travel to many exotic locales of Middle Earth such as Rivendel and the Misty Mountains. Since the others do not accept one another to take the ring into Mordor and to the crater of Mt. Doom in order to destroy it, Frodo accepts this task and together with the rest of this Fellowship, they embark on an incredible journey with epic battles, incredible CGI effects, and an unforgettable music score! But is the Fellowship enough to stand up against the forces of evil? Though not as captivating and action-packed as its two follow-ups, 'Two Towers' & 'Return', 'Fellowship' packs quite the punch in the series and is an excellent beginning for those who are new to it! This Platinum Series Special Extended DVD Edition is also the best version of the film to get, considering that a lot of scenes were deleted out of the theatrical release. For those of you who want the best experience of the film, THIS IS IT!

Summary: Two words - Buy It.
Review: This is the only DVD release where I actually bought the two-disk version, then sold it and bought this 4-disk version. THe movie is amazing and the extra scenes being integrated directly into the DVD rather than being provided as extra material is FANTASTIC! I hope it starts a trend. As for the extras, there's enough material to spend an entire day wading through. The booklet does a nice job of providing navigation and location context for people without infinite free time. All in all, the best DVD set I've bought in a long long time. Highly recommended.

Summary: Only the best movie ever!
Review: This is the only movie I have ever seen where I concluded that the movie was better than the book. I started reading the Fellowship of the Ring last year, but I could't get into it. Around November, I realized the release of the movie was approaching, so I finished the book. Hey, my friends make fun of me for seeing it twice and talking about it a lot, but I still think it's the best movie ever!

Summary: Excellent "alternative" film
Review: This is the only movie I've gone to see twice in a theater and I plan to go at least two more times. My only complaint is the volume - my ears were ringing after each showing. But that's mainly the theater's fault because when I buy the movie I will be able to control the volume myself. Other than that, LOTR was one of the best book adaptations I've ever seen. "Gone With the Wind" and "The Princess Bride" are my other two favorite movies-from-books. What I loved about LOTR was that everything seemed just the way I had it pictured in my head, Gandalf, the Hobbits, etc. were perfect and I found the cinematography excellent. Those who complain about the movie's length or missing scenes need to remember that it is absolutely impossible to reproduce an author's words on the big screen. Artistic visions differ and liberties must be taken; only the important parts of the story need to be in the script. I thought the prologue in the beginning was very helpful to those who've never read the books, or maybe have forgotten the story.
Also I like the fact that this is a "grown-up" movie and not a water-downed family version from the Evil Empire. This is an excellent movie for those who like adult fantasy-adventure epics, and if you know you don't like that genre, don't see it and don't complain. This is a refreshing alternative to the mainstream Hollywood pestilence that plagues our theaters under the guise of "teen romance comedy", etc. LOTR is an example of what superior filmmaking can be. My only peeve is that is will be ignored by the Academy because of it's "fantasy" label. It would certainly win Best Picture in my book.

Summary: BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!!!!
Review: this is the second best movie you will ever see. (Aside from the movie Braveheart with Mel Gipson.) It's very simple, GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!! Unfortunly it cut out a few parts but it was only a few. This is an amazing movie. If there was an A+++++++ rating for a movie this would be one of the only two movies that would get that rating!!! As an amazing epic film it deserved the Best Picture Award. Definitly over that stupid A Beautiful Mind. THIS PEICE OF CIMINATOGRAPHY IS THE BEST PEICE OF CIMINATOGRAPHY EVER!!! GO SEE THE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: The included scenes explain the "Huh?
Review: This is the version of the movie that should have been released instead of the theatrical version. The gifts from Lothlorien, the ring falling from Isildur's hand the mithril coat are valuable setups to events in this movie. It also explains the scene from "The Two Towers" where the hobbits can hide under the cloak from Lothlorien.
