Summary: Simply Beautiful
Review: The Lord of the Ring: The Fellowship of the Ring is a beautiful adaptation of Tolkien's book. The acting is superb, especially Ian McKellen as Gandalf. The special effects are great. The dialog rich and beautiful. I can't wait for the second part The Two Towers.

Summary: Great DVD - Tolkien fans will not be disapointed
Review: The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (Platinum Series Extended Edition) DVD is reason enough to own a DVD player. Besides all the extra footage from this Peter Jackson/Tolkien classic, there are an astounding number of features spread across 4 disks. I am not going to print off the feature list, but let me state that Tolkien fans, and of course fans of the film, should not miss this edition. If there is anything disappointing it is the lack of material from the first "regular" edition DVD release - you will have to pick up that version if you want to see all the theatrical trailers and the actual theatrical release because they are not included on the "extended" edition.

The extended edition is highly recommended, and in my opinion a better bargain than the "collectors" edition, which includes an extra National Geographic DVD about the life of J. R. R. Tolkien, and the two Argonath bookends. All in all, the extra 30 minutes of movie footage is worth the price of admission, and the format from menu, to presentation, to commentaries, to all the bonus features makes this DVD set one of the best DVDs ever released!

Summary: You need this DVD
Review: The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring is the best DVD to have in your collection. I must say that Peter Jackson and his team of filmmakers have surpassed my expectations with this DVD set. They conveyed the story beautifully in the theaters last December. The previous version of the DVD was great for those people who just wanted to see the movie again. THIS DVD set, however, is for the fan. It gives insight into the filmmaking process from the perspective of many of the people who were involved in the making of the film. From cast interviews, fantastic descriptions of the "bigatures" and honest commentaries, this DVD set gives the Lord of the Rings fan all they could ask for and more. This is a "MUST HAVE" addition to any DVD library.

Summary: A Great Movie
Review: The Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship of the Ring is a great movie. Even though I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and went to see the Harry Potter movie three times in theaters (and going to see it more!!) The Lord of the Rings movie was, to me, tied with Harry Potter as the best movies I saw in the year 2001. When I went to see the movie, I had not read any of the books, however, I did watch the animated version of The Hobbit many times when I was younger, so I knew a little of the story. I was given the complete Lord of the Rings set as a Christmas present, and after seeing this movie, I know I am going to have to read the book before the next two movies comes out.

Summary: Excitement At Its Height!
Review: The Lord of the Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring is SO FAR my favorite movie , as I have not seen the other two trilogy films yet , The Two Towers and The Return Of The King , which , in my opinion , will be AWSOME! The Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowsip Of The Ring has a lot of excitement and action. I have read The Lord Of The Rings books by J.R.R. Tolkien and thought that The Lord of the Rings was fantastic! But when I saw the movie "The Fellowship of the Ring" it sent me to Tolkiens Middle-Earth. The ringwraiths , the orcs , the cave troll , and the balrog in the movie looked very realistic and scary. The star actors did a very splendid job in the film. If I ever met them I'd shake there hands a thousand times and say thank you for making Middle-Earth come alive. This movie deserves more than 5 stars because it is magnificent and followed the book very well. So that is why you must own the DVD today. Peter Jackson has done a wonderful job on this film. So buy it for DVD. I can't wait till The Lord Of The Rings : The Two Towers and The Return Of The King comes out in theaters!

Summary: FANTASTIC!
Review: The Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring is THE BEST FILM EVER! The three Lord Of The Rings books I have read were marvelous , but now J.R.R. Tolkiens world of The Lord Of The Rings finally came to life on the big screen and now on DVD. I can't wait untill they relese the other two Lord Of The Rings trilogies , directed by Peter Jackson , in theaters. The Two Towers and The Return Of The King will be as fantastic as the first trilogy film , The Fellowship Of The Ring , was.

Summary: This Is The Best Movie Ever!!!
Review: The Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring is the best movie ever! The graphics in this brilliant movie are great , the acting is wonderful , and the ringraiths , orcs , the cave troll , and the balrog of Moria seemed very realistic. This film , The Fellowship Of The Ring , went along very well with the first Lord Of The Rings book which I have read. I can't wait until The next two trilogy movies of The Lord Of The Rings comes out! Peter Jackson is a fantasic director! This movie deserves five stars because it is indeed wonderful.

Summary: Astounding!!!
Review: The Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring is the best movie ever! The graphics were awsome , the story line was well done , and the director , and his co-workers , did a very good job at making the wonderful author J.R.R. Tolkiens Middle-earth come to life. The actors did a fantastic job in the movie. The ringraiths , the orcs , the cave troll , and the balrog looked awsome! This movie did a very good job at following J.R.R. Tolkiens first book of The Lord Of The Rings. I can't wait untill the other two movies come out in theaters. The Two Towers and The Return Of The King will be as wonderful as the first Lord Of The Rings movie - The Fellowship Of The Ring - and will follow J.R.R. Tolkiens Lord Of The Rings books in a very well manner. Peter Jackson is now probably the best director since The Lord Of The Rings : The Fellowship Of The Ring won thirteen academy awards across the globe. I bet the other two Lord Of The Rings movies will win as many academy awards as the first movie directed by Peter Jackson.

Summary: Interesting.
Review: THE LORD OF THE RINGS : The Fellowship Of The Rings is another one of those movies that when I saw it in the theatre I thought it was too long and unimpressive. Yes it looked great and had great wide angled shot, but it was so visual that it didn't work for me in the theatre. Now, on the DVD, it was like Harry Potter - it works much better for the small screen. No I did not believe it was a 'best picture' material, and yes, I did read the original novels and enjoyed them tremendously.

The story is relatively simple about a Hobbit who is given a ring to go on a quest to bring it where it belongs. The ring is evil and everyone is after it. Meeting, dwarfs, elves, humans and ogre alike they travel the grounds of Middle Earth in search for the goal.

Directed by Peter Jackson (The Frighteners, Braindead ) , the film definitely has a mystical quality about it, but he takes very long and very drawn out shots and has very little dialogue in any one place most of the time. ...

The DVD extras have some short snippets of the interviews with the cast as well as a lot of the production and production design of the movie. There is a DVD rom section that has some interesting insights to the production. Enya's music video is also included. And, a preview of the second movie. I like the DVD better then the feature in the theatre. You'll either love it or hate it. I really haven't spoken with anyone who said "so-so". Hopefully the next two will do better for me in the theatre. (9-15-02)
