Summary: ONE OF THE BEST DVDs EVER MADE!!
Review: I used to think that T2: The Ultimate Edition was a cool dvd, but now I have seen the special edition Star Wars: Episode I DVD. This DVD has over 6 hours of special features that include web documentaries that follow George Lucas around during the creation and filming of Phantom Menace (this is a real good special feature to watch if you have a lot of time to kill). Some people may have said that "Phantom Menace" was a dumb movie but those people should check out the fully-completed deleted scenes that are presented on this DVD. The deleted scenes (if you want to wait and see the deleted scenes for yourself scroll down and ignore what I'm saying) include an extended version of the pre-podrace action and more parts of lap two of the podrace, a waterfall sequence that shows Qui-Gonn Jinn, Obi-Wan and Jar-Jar (the most annoying character ever created) in the submarine trying to escape a very steep waterfall, More footage of Anakin leaving Tatooine, and plenty more. Other special features include: "The Beginning" a special 1-hour documentary created from over 600 hours (!!!!!!!!) of footage filmed during the making of the movie, Still galleries that include lots of photos and everything from behind-the-scenes, the original theatrical teaser and traile, TV Spots (including the original Tone Poems), "Duel of the Fates" music video that aired on TRL in May '99, a special documentary that answers the questions on why the new footage was deleted from the film (mostly running time isssues), and lots, lots more. The features for the film itself include: widescreen presentation, THX-Certified picture and sound, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX (this was the first movie to have the EX soundtrack in theaters), 2.0 Dolby Surround, and audio commentary with Lucas and the other production guys, and did I mention the great sound and picture quality that puts the VHS cassette to shame. I have eight words to those who have hesitated to buy this DVD: ARE YOU STUPID?! BUY THIS GREAT DVD NOW! and can you please press the little helpful button on the bottom please!

Summary: GEORGE LUCAS SHOULD NOT HAVE MADE THIS ONE!
Review: I VIEWED THIS DVD RECENTLY, AND WHILE THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE SPECTACULAR THIS JUST DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME APPEAL AS THE PREVIOUS STAR WARS MOVIES. I FOUND THAT I COULD NOT RELATE TO ANY OF THE CHARACTERS (PERHAPS BETTER CASTING COULD HAVE SOLVED THIS). THERE ARE (I'M QUITE SURE) CUTE CHILD ACTORS OUT THERE WHO CAN TRULY ACT. THE CHILD ACTOR IN THIS MOVIE DID NOT HAVE THAT KIND OF TALENT. MY FAMILY AND I FOUND THE ANIMATED CHARACTER JAR JAR BINKS SO ANOYING WE ALMOST STOPPED WATCHING HALF WAY THROUGH THE FILM. THIS CHARACTER WAS NOT CUTE OR FUNNY, HAD WAY TO MUCH SCREEN TIME, AND WE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND MOST OF HIS LINES. IF GEORGE LUCAS MAKES ANOTHER EPISODE WE WILL MAKE SURE NOT TO SEE IT. I GAVE IT ONE STAR DUE TO THE GREAT EFFECTS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, UNLESS YOU'RE A DIE HARD STAR WARS JUNKIE.

Summary: WHY WAS THIS MADE?
Review: I waisted 2 hours of my life on this movie simply by watching it. I feel bad for the people who waited in line for days to see it. There were a lot of good actors in this movie, but they were a waste. I think Ewan McGregor is a great actor, but for some reason or another, he was bad in this. Liam Neeson is also very talented, but it didn't show in this movie. Jake Loid couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag. The movie relied on the it's digital effects 100%. They were good, but not 2 hours. Hey, I'm not wasting extra time on this movie for my sake. I want to help you. I want to enlighten you. THIS IS BAD, DON'T BUY IT!

Summary: Excellent DVD production.......
Review: I wait for this DVD 2 years. The Spanish audio is excellent too.
The quality of the picture and sounds is very good. The second DVD from this package its a excellent complement for any collector that Love the Star Wars saga. Congratulations George Lucas. Better late than never, but this work is the best at this time. We wait for the other movies (episode 4 to 6)on DVD.

Summary: 2hr Toy Commercial
Review: I waited 16 years and got a toy commercial. Granted, the other three movies did't exactly have poetic dialog (especially Return of the Jedi), but each movie had character development. This movie gives you only some superficial knowledge of the main players before whisking you off on a thoughtless, flashy journey. Along the way you get some really bad acting, a limp story, and worst of all, Jar Jar.

Even the special effects were lacking. ILM's composeting looks rather thin, especially at the beginning and end when actors are inside metallic rooms. Another summer movie, the Matrix, had far better looking, sharper and more inventive special effects that put the Phantom Menace to shame.

George Lucas has once again shown that he can not direct actors, and his storytelling skills are very rusty. I hope someone else directs the next one. Leave your brain and wallet at the door for this flick.

Summary: HUGE dissapointment
Review: I waited literally forever for this and then got some kiddie flick. Hopefully the nest two movies will make up for this sorry excuse of a movie. I recommend "Logans Run" over this movie.

Summary: Just OK
Review: I waited so long for this movie, and was seriously disappointed. Being a true SciFi fan probably taints my opinion. Episodes 4-6 were excellent, especially 4 & 5. If you really liked Episode 1, and there are no other DVD's that you would rather spend your money on, this DVD has some nice extra's. (Got it as a gift.) I have seen it twice, which is more than enough times for me. My six year old nephew does not even like it. He would rather watch Spy Kids or see Harry Potter.

Summary: Lucas had all these years and he still got it wrong
Review: I waited years and years to see the prequel, and this movie sure isn't what I expected.

Get rid of Jar Jar and the Gungans, get rid of Watto, get rid of Anarkin, get rid of the pod race, and you have a decent 1 hour movie.

This book was such a disappointent I probably won't waste my money on the other episodes. ;-(

Review: I want the dvd, this is suck

Summary: May the farce be with you!
Review: I want those 2 1/2 hours of my life back, Lucas! The script was right out of an episode of that really bad Dungeons and Dragons cartoon in the mid-80s, the characters were as deep as a hole dug by Mr Burns using a toothpick and the story was as exciting as watching "Random Hearts" in slo-mo. Save yourselves 2 1/2 hours and stare at a wall instead-it will be as productive!
