Summary: A very good movie
Review: I have never read an X-Men comic. Until I saw it the first time i had no clue what it was all about. But the movie took me through a thrilling ride. The cast is good; the effects are nice. The DVD is worth the purchase, be you an X-men fan or not.

Summary: Okay, Where's the sequel?
Review: Seriously, my husband and I had the exact same reaction to this film: as we walked out we were ready to walk right back in for the sequel! If a desire for more isn't one thing that marks great story telling, I don't know what is! The casting is nothing short of inspired. Everyone was perfect for their roll, with the possible exception of the actor playing Scott Sommers (Cyclops). No offense intended to the good gentleman, but my friends and I thought that the person portraying this role should have been more masculine/less boyish. (Perhaps he will grow with the role?) Now, I must say that there will be some disappointed purists out there who are annoyed because their favorite X-Man isn't in this film. The fact is no single film can contain ALL of the wonderful characters created for this stellar and long running comic book series. Any film must make careful selection about who to show and how much of each character to show. Personally, I think showcasing the two most tortured characters- Rogue and Wolverine- is inspired. It was a good introduction for those who have never read the comics and a great story for those who know them all well. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is that this film may be disappointing to those who have their heart set on something like the two different TV shows or something like the current comic book. Film is a separate media and must be handled differently but this can still be frustrating for some (and is also, unfortunatly, unavoidable.) I will definitely buy it on DVD when it comes out! One caveat: do not buy this film if you don't like action films. This film has action galore, very well handled and filmed, but it is extremely fast paced and this may be a problem for some who prefer a more gentle telling of a story.

Summary: A Die-Hard X-Men Comic Book Junkie Speaks
Review: My fascination with all things X-Men began as a child of ten, when my big brother gave me his copy of the Uncanny X-Men edition that turned out to be the first appearance of Binary. Remember that, fellow junkies? Anyway, over the past two decades (it has been at least that long) I have observed with enthusiasm the waxing and waning of the X-Men's popularity, compounded by the distribution of the different iterations, spin-offs and knock-offs of the original concept. Through it all the Uncanny X-Men has remained THE BEST.

I was fairly jumping out of my pants by the time the movie was revealed to the world. I'm happy to report I have not been disappointed. First, the heroes: The versatile Hugh Jackman (anyone who watched when Romance Classics aired his other movie shortly after the X-Men was released in the theaters knows what I'm talking about) did such an effective job of bringing to life the comic book X-Man Wolverine, I have to wonder now what more could Dougray Scott have possibly brought to the role. And Jimmy Marsden--rrrowrr! Cyclops couldn't look better if somebody drew him. Wait--yeah! Needless to say, Marsden earned his keep and then some. I could have done without an auburn-tressed Jean Grey substitute for the fiery-tressed beauty of the comics played by Famke Janssen, or the bargain-basement delivery of the comic-book Goddess Ororo by Halle Berry. Anna Paquin actually brought dimension to the comic-book X-Man Rogue (X-Man creators, take note). And there was no other on Earth to assume the role of the comic-book X-Man mentor Charles Xavier than the legendary Patrick Stewart. NO OTHER.

Now, the villians: Ian McKellan brought to the role of Magneto what Ian McKellan typically brings to a role, which has never been a bad thing. Rebecca Romijn-Stamos as the lovely villianess Mystique looked as if she was having way too much fun duking it out with Wolverine. Tyler Mane demonstrated in bringing to life the comic-book mutant SabreTooth the thin line separating the human species from animals. Ray Park is a toad. Enough said.

But I'm on a tangent here (sorry--I did say I was a junkie). You want action-on-action, cool special effects, beautiful and feisty heroines, tasty heroes, nefarious evildoers and a not-too-complicated plot that is a tribute to one of the greatest comic-book concepts of all time? ...

Summary: It ain't a summer blockbuster for nothin'
Review: One of this summer's most exciting films, "X-Men" weaves 38 years of comics into a smart, fast-paced, and visually stunning adventure. There are of course a few minor details changed and I was a little dissappointed that Gambit wasn't in it, but that only lasted through the credits. Some of the casting is perfect, seeing two masters of the stage and screen ( McClellen and Stewart ) fighting in a sci-fi is enough to see it alone. Australian actor Hugh Jackman, in a great performance as Wolverine is bound for fame. The plot pretty strong and is truly interesting, and you can see why Magneto feels the way he does about humanity in the beginning of the movie, and you don't quite hate him for why he thinks the way he does. We could have used a little more background on Prof. X, Storm, and Cyclops, but I guess we'll find out later...for those of you that don't read the comics or watch the tv show. Of course we're left hanging at the end, wondering what Logan will find about his past, so expect at least two more sequels. ( Which I wouldn't mind working on...this cast and crew was just packed with talent!)There is good attention to detail here, and even cameos from a few characters, including Jubilee. All in all, this was a vey enjoyable film, with a cool score and Ray Park's real voice! So moviegoers of all ages! Go see this film, cuz there's pretty much something in it for everyone! And don't take movies so seriously. All these people are here to do is entertain and maybe even educate ya a little, and they work harder than you could ever think. So get out there, and be entertained!

Summary: X-Men 2000
Review: Hey! So anyway this movie is my fav movie in the world. I don't know why it appeals to me so much cuz' I've never read one of their comic books and I have never seen a cartoon. I dunno, but the effects are awsome, kinda like the matrix, except a lot less, well, wierd. I thought that Hugh Jackman and Holly Berry did a great job, I kinda forgot it was a movie when they were on screen. (I'm not sure of his name but the guy that played Sabertooth but he was cool too) I recomend this movie to anyone who wants to see a great movie cuz you don't need to be a comic book junkie to love this movie. The acting was great and the charactors were (I can't believe I am saying this about someone who can "control weather or "shoot lasors out of his eyes") believable. Again this is my number one fav. movie in the world. ...

Summary: This Movie Is AWESOME !
Review: I have just returned from the Movie Theater after seeing X-men. I came to this site with one thought in mind - Man; I got to tell the world how incredible this movie was. X-men is very unique film about superhero mutants that must save the world from their evil mutant brothers. As the story unfolds it introduces you to many exotic characters with each one having a unique ability.

In the future many mutations rapidly change people and create beings that have supernatural powers. Because of their dangerous powers mutants are feared and become outcasts in the society. However there is one place where they are welcome. This place is the school built by Professor Xavier, a powerful mutant capable of reading and controlling thoughts of other individuals. In his school many mutants are accepted into a friendly family which helps them to discover and develop their powers. In the movie we get aquatinted with the school primarily through the eyes of Wolverine, a tough mutant with "get out of my way or I'll kick your ... attitude". In my opinion, Wolverine is by far the coolest of all X-men. Among his unique characteristics are razor-sharp claws, extremely acute sense of smell, metal skeleton and ability to rapidly heal himself. As Wolverine said once, "I do not need medical attention." Ironically, the main villain of X-men, Magneto, could manipulate all metallic objects including Wolverine's skeleton. If it were not for other X-men Wolverine would certainly have a hard time fighting Magneto. It was good that Wolverine teamed up with other heroes. Together they showed just how dangerous a good teamwork can be.

On the whole X-men is not perfect and is hardly realistic but is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen. I am a big Sci-fi and action fan. I hate when movies have plot holes and many unrealistic events. For example, 99.9 % of all mutations are harmfull to an organism, most mutations produce organisms with diminished capacity. In other words mutations cannot produce individuals with such god-like powers.

I especially do not believe in movies that are based on comic books. But X-men is unlike any movie of its kind. It is very interesting, it has some great action sequences, it takes place in many beautiful locations and most importantly its characters are very cool. For such a great movie I can forgive all the little mistakes in science or realism. X-men has a lot to offer, it is a great entertainment. Without a doubt this is MUST SEE movie!

Summary: Spectacular!
Review: I thought this movie was great, the special effects were great, every thing was great! I had a little trouble getting oreinted in the beginning but it didn't ruin anything for me. I do not see how their mutant powers could be done any better. I really liked Storm's powers at the end of the movie (I if you want to see what I mean, see the movie. You won't be disappointed). Those of you who like special effects. This one's for you.

Summary: Disappointing...
Review: The X-Men movie had all the potential to be a good film, evenif you did have to use your imagination. But all the critics seemed to think this film was worth 4 stars, and so I began to wonder if this film was maybe different from all the other sci-fi bumf and went to see it. Wish I hadn't.

Prof. Xavier runs a school for 'gifted' children who have superhuman powers. For these reasons they are banished from society and are branded as 'dangerous' by the government. The evil Magneto doesn't think the human race will ever come to understand the feelings of these mutants and decides to lead his team on a mission to destroy mankind. So it's left up to Xavier's team consisting of Storm, Wolverine, Cyclops and Jean Gray to stop Magneto from wiping out the population of humans throughout the world.

Not even millions of dollars, jaw-dropping special effects or good performances by the leading actors can save this film. It's badly edited and the script isn't great either. The characters are never explored (except for maybe Anna Paquin's Rogue and Ian McKellan's Magneto) and the ending provides us with not-very-subtle clues hinting towards the making of a second film. Having said that, at 93 minutes the film is short enough for you not to get too bored and will no doubt rake in mountains of cash, so do you think it's creators are worried about anything else?
