Summary: A great addition to the theatrical version
Review: I really enjoyed watching the extended version of the film because it really ties up all the loose ends that the theatrical version leaves blank. With over 40 minutes of extra footage there is plenty of material to mention. Although I am still disappointed by the major alterations Jackson made to Faramir's character and Frodo and Sam's quest, the extra scene showing the complex relationship between Boromir, Faramir, and Denethor is excellent and really sets a nice backdrop for the third installment. The extended version also contains one of my favorite scenes from the Tolkien trilogy where Merry and Pippin drink the water in Fangorn forest and grow taller. Another scene of interest is the one where Aragorn and Eowyn discuss Aragorn's true age and his association with the previous king of Rohan. The theatrical release of the Two Towers was truly epic, but the extended version builds upon the epic nature of the movie and also includes a lot of material that makes sense of the storyline for those who haven't read the trilogy.

Summary: How could you not love this?
Review: I bought this DVD after seeing The Two Towers in the theatre and thinking there was something missing. There was. It was added back in for the special extended edition. I love this movie. I love the books, too. I know that some of the things in the books were left out of the movie, but come on. Do you really expect people to sit in a movie theatre for seven hours at a time?
I would say that Peter Jackson did an excellent job with this movie. It beats the crap out of the animated version. Right?

Summary: Best Version of the Amazing Film
Review: I recieved this DVD for Christmas- what can I say? I LOVE IT! In most DVDs, deleted and extended scenes are not incorporated into the actual movie, but in this version, they are! The new scenes are hilarious, and this edition is perfect for anyone- Tolkien lover or not! It includes 4 disks- 2 are the movie and 2 are Appendices. Peter Jackson- great job!

Summary: The Dullest Three Hours Of My Life
Review: I'll admit that after watching the Fellowship (the first half hour of which I enjoyed, after that I was praying for Frodo to die so my suffering could end) I told myself, "Now I know how not to waste 6 hours in the future [by not watching the next two in the trilogy]." But after all the glowing reviews from critics and friends, I borrowed the DVD of the Two Towers to give the series another chance. Perhaps I was just in a bad mood the day I watched the Fellowship and had taken my irritability out on the film... Unfortunately, Two Towers was even more horribly tedious.
First, the good - the cinematography is great and the CGI animation is excellent.
Second, third, and last, the bad - the characters are not at all compelling, the plot is pointless, and the entire monstrosity of a movie is so mind-numbingly boring that I had to start doing finances for some variety to avoid watching it.
I am completely baffled as to why LotR is so popular.

Summary: Unreal - OMG! This is the best DVD so far...
Review: Peter Jackson has done more for the DVD medium with this release than anybody can comprehend without watching it. The extended version of the Two Towers just shows the full scope of the entire movie making process. The extra scenes will blow your mind. It was like watching a totally different movie. I sat down and just experienced a NEW Twin Towers and it had all the joys and novelty of sitting through the first cinematic version of the Twin Towers.SIMPLY THE BEST DVD RELEASE TO DATE - EVER!

Review: Just a clarification, I thought I made it clear that the problem with the statement about C.S. Lewis' atheism in the DVD was that it was unexplained and taken out of context. I stated in the review that "Tolkein was instumental in Lewis' conversion back to Christianity". Clearly, to convert back to something, one has to be away from it previously. Anyway, the DVD does not put Mr. Duriez' statement in context and it leaves the impression that Lewis was simply an atheist. That statement, though gramatically correct, still imparts a false understanding of C.S. Lewis' beliefs.

Summary: Fantastic!
Review: After buying, and watching over and over again the Fellowship of the ring extended i had high expectations from this one. one word can describe this dvd, FANTASTIC! wow, this movie is a wonderful piece of art and deserves the respect that a couple of the other reviewers did not give it. this is a true classic. The extended version is a lot better than the regular because it goes deeper into the great story. It grabs your attention and won't let go. Kudos to Peter Jackson!!

Summary: Geoege Lucas gets schooled
Review: LOTR: The Two Towers is simply a masterpiece in every sense of the word. And Gollum is a crowning accomplishment for actor AND director. Just compare Gollum to some of the steaming piles of crap served up by Lucas in the last 2 Star Wars films. The actor- Andy Serwin- deserves a best actor nod as much as any actor out there. It is truly a revolutionary piece of work. This film is the best of the trilogy in my opinion. The battle of Helms Deep was amazing- but even more amazing was how Jackson worked up a palpable sense of despair before the battle Even though we all knew they would win, watching that movie put you in doubt! Watching Aragorn comforting a young boy readying for battle - "this is a good sword" - as you can see his face breaking because he knew it was a piece of crap and this boy had no chance- was a capper. Sure, Jackson took liberties with the plot, with Faramir, but so what? I'll leave it to Tolkein purists to complain. I've read those books over and over since I was 10 and the films are good enough for me! PS- The extended flashback scene with Faramir, Boromir and Denethor is worth the price of the DVD alone...

Review: I really don't understand why people like these movies...its just a bunch of stupid midgets running around fighting trees.. and wizards...I mean Common!!! How Am I supposed to relate to this garbage!!! These movies are for nerdy fantasy people who wish they were wizards...But i gotta news flash for you fantasy nerds out there....wizards and unicorns don't exist....sorry.
