Summary: Don't buy this yet
Review: Ok, first off this is an ok movie. It doesn't live up to Superman or Spider-man but it's still good. But if you're thinking of buying this, wait untill next year when WB releases the SE DVD of this movie.

Summary: The original Dark Knight returns.
Review: Tim Burton's vision of Batman has to be the closest to the original comic-book creation. It's dark noirish look was put together by Burton and Stanley Kunbrick production designer Anton Furst (who mysteriously committed suicide during the making of 'Batman Returns'). Gotham city evolves like the inversion of Manhatten island. Instead of buildings arranged to let in light, Gotham's homages to Babylon are built to exclude light.

Jack Nicholson obviously steals the show. In fact Batman comic-book creator Bob Kane thought that Nichiolson's interpretation of the Joker was even better than the original characterisation in his comic strip! Michael Keaton was a surprise choice at the time, but the character of Batman is so aloof and distant (almost as stiff as his suit) that even Arnie could have played him. I suppose in choosing a lead actor, it has more to do with how he plays Bruce Wayne than how he plays the caped crusader.

Danny Elfman's score is reasonably dynamic, but despite popular opinion I think Prince's songs fit in very well with the Joker's more festive moments, i.e. the scene in the museum and the free-money parade. In fact, 'Batman' is a refreshing inversion of type, where most of the most light-hearted frivolous moments are brought to us by the villian while most of the darkly serious parts surround the hero.

Summary: The Dark Knight at his Best!
Review: In 1989 Tim Burton brought Batman back to the silver screen like never before seen. People were shocked to see that Michael Keaton was Batman and the Jack Nicholson as the Joker had to be seen to be believed. That summer Batman blew the competition away at the box office. Michael Keaton proved he deserved to wear the cape and cowl and Jack Nicholson stole the show with his performance. The cinematography in this film is beautiul, leaving you with a timeless, dark setting that looks like it could have taken place in the 40s, the 80s, or whenever your imagination chooses. I highly reccomend this DVD to anybody who has an imagination and ever wanted to see Batman shine in all of his glory!

Review: If you are a big batman fan I don't how you could miss this film. It is unbelievable. This and batman returns are the only good out of the four. Jack Nicholson is fantastic in this film. He is also hisarical. Michael Keaton is great as batman too. He's way better than George Clooney. What about Adam West, but anyways this movie is very dark like the way Tim Burton shoots his films. The art design in this film is amazing. They really did bring Gotham City to life. This movie attacks hard but don't get this because when "Batman part 5 comes out there's going to be a special edition DVD for all of them. But if you don't want to wait till 2005 you go ahead and buy this. In the Big Fish premiere Tim Burton said he was done with the commentary.

Summary: Shoot to kill!! Know WHAT I MEAN
Review: BATMAN is the best comic book movie ever. It is too bad the DVD has no special features at all. Michael Keaton gets into his super-hero role better than Christopher Reeve(Super-man) and Tobey(Spider-man). The movie begins with Batman saving a family who was about to get robbed at gunpoint just like Bruce Wayne and his family did that fateful night that Batman lost his parents and his normal life. Wayne commits himself to taking matters into his own hand and his sole purpose in life is to wipe the criminals and crooks of Gotham City out of the picture. When the police gets and inside tip about Axis chemicals, Jack Napier is dropped by Batman after getting his eye washed out with a toxic acid and then turns into the diabolical Joker. The movie has great Music, Acting, Directing, and especially Production Design. Another good comic book film with GREAT production design is the Crow. Batman and the Crow are great movies which are just as equally Dark, Morbid, and Enthralling.

Summary: Batman, This is FOREVER!
Review: This is undeniably the best in the whole Batman series. 1989 brang the dark knight to a whole new level. Batman was idolized by everyone now. Thye movie isnt quite dark, well nowhere as dark as the next film [Batman Returns] but it sure has its awkward moments. The Joker is by far the best of the film though Jack Nicholson is a bit annoying but his perfomance is outstanding. It is scary in the way Joker falls into acid, his girlfiends new face is very creepy, but this movie is the best in the whole series and it definitley deserved the MAJOR credit it got. This is one film that people MUST-SEE!!! The dark knight debut is amazingly well done by the awesome director Tim Burton. SEE THIS NOW! The DVD extras are OK , interesting but definitley should've had interviews, a documentary or anything like that I really dont consider "Production notes" to be a {SPECIAL} Feature!!.
BUT U JUST GOTTA SEE BATMAN 1 IT IS AWESOME!

Summary: Why would you want to miss this.
Review: This movie is beyond the best and no doubt one of my favorite movies. The scene of Gotham city will keep you watching it over and over again. Its one of those movies that will keep you waiting for the sequel.

Summary: Batman is Awesome
Review: Batman is plain and simple the greatest superhero of all time, although he gets a lot of flack for having powers, he is intelligent, has the best villains, and the best movie.

Of all the "comic book" movies, this one remains superior. It is dark, with an atmosphere that only Tim Burton could achieve (I imagine). Great performance from Nicholson, as the Joker, who's the coolest villain ever. They shouldn't have killed him though. Or, maybe he isn't dead...

Summary: You call this a movie????
Review: The first Batman movie has got to be one of the most cheesiest heroic movies of all times. I've watched this film over and over and over again, and it still doesn't get to me. It's full of too much romance and way too much violence. I wasn't too thrilled with the pick of characters for this film. Jack Nicholson did an okay job as "The Joker", but again here's another movie where Michael Keaton is playing himself. He never takes his Batman job seriously. And I can't stand Kim Basinger in this film! Her wardrobe is God-awful!! When you're on a date, at least comb your hair and put on a decent dress than something handed from a second-hand store. And I can't stand her screaming in about every other horror scene. This Batman movie was a joke to begin with. The other two Batman movies were okay, despite the last one was without Michael Keaton.
I was hoping for an action-packed movie when it first came out, unfortunately, I was very disappointed.
