Rating: Summary: The World is not Enough and niether is this! Review: There's more humour, more action and more women so why do I still feel let down? I'll tell you why! All the hype Robert Carlyle's character got as being bad and invincible amounts too nothing! He's meant to be this big terrorist but in the end it turns out that he's in love with a woman, which results in a very big letdown at the end of the movie. This is because the bad guys in Bond movies are bad, that's it. You can't start giving them a heart. There's no sense or feeling of satisfaction when Bond kills him. However, Brosnan is making the role his own. John Cleese is going to be a good replacement for Q and yes, the women are hot! Even though Denise Richards acting is dire but hey, that's not what she's there for is it! The action sequences are explosive and so are the stunts, which you'd expect as the budget for each movie gets bigger and bigger. There's more one-liners in this than any other Bond movie and the one at the end of this movie is a classic! This is a good all-round movie, it's just not a good Bond movie. However, I enjoyed this movie a lot and I know you will too! So I advise you to buy this, sit down and relax cos Bonds gonna take you on a roller coaster ride of entertainment!
Rating: Summary: similar standard to You only live twice Review: I enjoyed the movie immensely. The plot was good. I wish they had taken out the John Cleese stuff because it lowered the standard of the film. Let him be an idiot in idiot type films. Elektra King was stunning, but that American scientist piece was a typical bubble gum American who belonged in Scream 3. The action scenes were top notch. It would be nice to know where Mr Bond pays his taxes, or where his mother lived - just to show he is a human so I identify with him more when I'm driving my Z8 round Basel.
Rating: Summary: INCREDIBLY DULL BOND YARN Review: Probably the least exciting Bond movie evermade and that's including the Lazenby one. Nothing happens that is worth mentioning. There's a scene with a pipe or something that is good for about 2 seconds. Robert Carlyle is so unscary he belongs in Sesame Street. Denise Richards is a nuclear scientist (!) who wears tight fitting tops and hot pants instead of the white coat. Director Michael Apted seemed an odd choice to me and he has succeeded in making every single scene as dull and leaden and unimpressive as it is possible. Only buy this DVD if you are a Bond fan. If you watch them just like any other movie though...do NOT waste your cash. The DVD is in Dolby 5.1 and is anamorphically enhanced at 2.35:1.
Rating: Summary: You've seen one Bond you've seen 'em all Review: Don't get me wrong the movie is entertaining, but its not something i would watch over and over again, and to me thats one reason for buying DVD's, the replayability. The one reason i would buy this is to see Denise Richards. See is worth the price of admission :)
Rating: Summary: Bond is Back! Review: The nice thing about seeing a 007 movie is the comforting feeling of knowing what one will see, more or less. There's always the fast-paced introduction, the bizarre title sequence, and the great moment when our hero has to introduce himself as "Bond. James Bond." The nineteenth 007 movie, The World is Not Enough is no exception. It's a Bond movie through and through. After an oil magnate is assassinated in the offices of the British secret service, the heir to her family's dynasty, a beautiful young woman named Elektra (Sophie Marceau, Braveheart), finds herself in danger. As a favor to the family, M (Dame Judi Dench) asks everyone's favorite superspy, James Bond (Pierce Brosnan), to protect Elektra. Although the terrorist Renard (Robert Carlyle, The Full Monty) escaped his last encounter with the British secret service, he finds himself dying from a bullet that had lodged in his gray matter. Renard feels nothing, his sense of touch cut off by the bullet's path through his brain. He is impervious to pain. He's stronger and able to push himself harder than any man. Now he is after Elektra, and Bond has to stop him. As a Bond movie, The World is Not Enough excels. It has two great chase scenes early on, and makes good -- but sparing -- use of nifty gadgets. Most importantly, every Bond cliche is here, from the martini to the car with all the extras. There are two beautiful female leads in Marceau and Denise Richards (Wild Things). The latter plays a nuclear scientist, Dr. Christmas Jones. Although Marceau is perfect for her role, Richards doesn't come across as genuine. I couldn't believe her as a spaceship pilot in Starship Troopers, and I can't believe her as a nuclear scientist now. She just doesn't have the acting ability to pull it off. Favorite characters, such as M, Miss Moneypenny (Samantha Bond), and Q (Desmond Llewelyn, in his final role) return, bringing with them a wonderful sense of continuity. Even the untrustworthy Russian Zukovsky (Robbie Coltrane) makes his second appearance since Goldeneye. Introduced into the Bond folklore is R (British comedian John Cleese), who will replace the aging Q in further installments of the series. The politically correct adaptation of Bond that has plagued the last couple of movies seems to be gone. This Bond is steeped in innuendo and chauvinistic behavior. I for one am glad to see him back to his old self. There is plenty of sexual tension in this film, making up for his lukewarm encounters of the past few years. This a return to true character form. Love him or hate him, you know he's Bond.
Rating: Summary: It's not bad, but not great Review: Ok all you Bond fans. If you sat through MAN WITH A GOLDEN GUN or MOONRAKER, then you know what a band bond movie is. 'The World is not Enough' however is by far, not a bad bond movie. Their are some really slick chase scenes, and its a fun time. Its not fantastic, but its its worth checking out!
Rating: Summary: Roger Moore IS James Bond! Review: This movie is the most belivable of the Brosnan Bond films and much better than "Tomorrow Never Dies". However, I think Denise Richards was using this roll to audition for "Tomb Raider". She was a terrible choice. Still, as far as Bonds go "Nobody Does It Better" than Roger Moore. 'Nuff said!
Rating: Summary: There is still room for improvement Review: "The World is not enough" is a decent action movie and a worthy entry in the never ending James-Bond-franchise. Since I have a weakness for Bond movies I hoped this one would be even better than the first two Brosnan-starrers which were really not bad, but weren't among the best films of the franchise. In some respects, "The World is not enough" is better than its two predecessors, but in some others, it's worse. Let's start with the good news. I think that this film has more class than the last Bond film. It is less joyless and Brosnan shows a little bit more edge. Fortunately there is also less product placement in this picture than in the last one in which this was pushed to an intolerable degree. Another strength of the picture is its villain, one of the best in the series. What disappointed me was the lack of tension and the rather unexciting action scenes which were, for the most part, worse than in the last films. After the incredible pre-credit-sequence, the quality of the action goes steadily downward. The lame showdown is slightly better than the one in "Tommorow never dies", still you have to say that all Brosnan Bonds ended with the worst action scene of the entire movie, a big mistake since you should end the film with the BEST you have to offer. All in all, "The World is not enough" is a step in the right direction in terms of storyline and characterization. Now they should hire a director who is a wizard in action sequences (maybe John Woo should become a Briton). It is also the film that will always be remembered as the one with last appearance of "Q". Its place in the Bond-history-books is therefore secured.
Rating: Summary: Pierce Brosnan is definitly falling into the Bond Character Review: This is definitly the best of the new bond films. Pierce Brosnan is aproaching Connery like proportions with this film. If youre into bond films, heck, even if your'e not, this is a must see. Plus, the special features on the DVD are great.
Rating: Summary: The only thing worth seeing in this movie is... Review: Nope, not the acting. It's the car. This is by far the worst of the last three Bond films. The acting by all the main characters seems either flat or out of place. Especially Denise Richards. Horrible casting job there...As for the action sequences, they aren't unique or interesting enough to distance themselves from other Hollywood action flicks. Maybe it is just me, but I really think that the entire franchise needs to re-invent itself. Again, if you must watch the movie, look for the new BMW Z8. That thing is a work of beauty and easily steals all the scenes it is involved in...
